Valentine’s Day used to hold magic for Colton. A struggling romance writer, he found his perfect prince in police officer Mike. Mike loved Valentine's Day and did everything he could to make the day magical. Until the day that the man who promised Colton forever never came home. For the last seven years, Colton has refused to move past the grief of losing Mike in the line of duty. He spends his nights at a local bar, pouring out his heart to bartender Lane, never noticing that Lane was falling in love with him. Then one Valentine’s Day, Colton walks into his house to find the ghost of Mike standing in his living room. He's come back to show Colton what happened the night he sacrificed his life, and to tell him that if he doesn't come to terms with his grief, his own life, and the love of Lane, will have heartbreaking consequences.
Born and raised in the middle of the bible belt Rider has always used books to take her to places she never believed she would see and to help her live a life that she could only imagine. Her first taste of city life was when she moved to Las Vegas Nevada after high school and experienced a whole world that small town country life hadn't prepared her for. For the next ten years she experienced a world of new things before returning to the small town life in Kansas and starting to write. Her stories sat on her computer for a while until a friend suggested submitting them to a couple of m/m publishers. The result was a contract for the book she co wrote with her friend Angel called Faelon. Her first solo project is Legion. Just recently she was offered a contract for her second solo project called Forgotten. Rider would love to here from her fans so feel free to drop her a line or ask how you can become a member of her street team.
In a creative variation on Charles Dickens’ ‘Christmas Carol’, the ghost of Valentine’s past, present, and future haunts these pages – and what an interesting ghost he turns out to be. Mike is Colton’s deceased lover, who loved Valentine’s, and he will not rest until Colton gets the message: Valentine’s Day is there to be celebrated, for love to be shared, and just because Colton lost Mike on that day seven years ago is no reason for him to continue to shut himself off. There is a man in the land of the living who might just be waiting for the right opportunity, and Mike is ghost-ly determined to make Colton see reason since there is a lot at stake.
This a Valentines take on "A Christmas Carol". Colt loses the love of his spouse, Mike, on Valentines day and for 7 years he's basically in mourning for him. Blinding himself to the fact that a new love is possible and even possible and possibly right in front of his face in the form of bartender Lane. He is taken to Valentines past, present, and future in hopes that he will see the error of his ways.
This was the first male/male romance I've ever read, and I found it to be sweet and endearing, and well written. I enjoyed it! This is not erotica just a short swert love story.
Well, this is one of those cheesy, heartwarming ghost of past love story. Pretty predictable and rushed up ending too. But, I guess I'm just in a good mood reading this! ;-)
