Dating Rules

Rate this book
Losing control is not an option for Izzy Shaw, something past experience has taught her. When you’re not in control, bad things happen. So when Parker Cole comes bustling into her life with his carefree manner, no full time job and his terrible Hawaiian shirts, she knows she should stay away.

For Parker, seeing Izzy at Penelope’s wedding stirred something in him. Izzy intrigues him. She’s attracted to him but she holds back and she doesn’t realise he sees this as a challenge. Usually when he wants something, he goes for it.

For Izzy, being attracted to a man and allowing herself to act upon it is defined by her rules. She lives by her rules, they protect her...

Parker is a rule breaker.

Over the course of 10 dates Parker has to persuade Izzy that he’s worth the risk, he has to persuade her that sometimes life doesn’t have to be all about rules, sometimes you have to walk on the edge to really appreciate living...
He will prove this to her, one date at a time.

Izzy is a different women to love. She doesn’t trust men but Parker is determined to make her fall for him. He won’t have an easy ride but he’s willing to pull out all the stops.

He’s more than a perfect date. He’s willing to do the grafting and he isn’t taking no for an answer.

This is intended for an adult audience. It has sexual content and adult language. It’s part of a series however can easily be read as a standalone alone. 3.5 stars out of 5.

I had seen a few posts about this book on Instagram, and the blurb really intrigued me. From the very first page, i knew i was going to really enjoy it. DATING RULES starts with a bang!!! (Quite literally!)
It is a perfect, light-hearted rom-com and i loved that its set in England. Parker is LUSH, and i thought he was so sweet in his pursuit of Izzy. One minute i was swooning over him, and then next i was laughing my head off. The writing is just brilliant.
Keeley Holmes was, up until recently, an author i had never read before, but i will most certainly be reading more of her books in the future.

I apologise now if this review is all over the place but I am trying to compose my thoughts and I can't, I am too giddy about it!

Ok, a breath first.... ahem...

I am going to start the post with I love Parker! I mean seriously I LOVE PARKER. There I said it, now we can move on. Parker is the type of guy every girl wants to meet in their life, he pushes you out of your comfort zone and challenges everything. The story isn't completely about him though, it's about Izzy.

Izzy has dating rules, she has had her heart broken and a rough upbringing, so she protects herself with her rules. To the outside world, she has a carefree attitude and does not care that her friends think she is a bit of a floozy. She is a beautiful redhead with long legs and loves her life the way she lives it. Then Parker comes along and literally blows everything out the window. The opening scenes were a raunchy affair in a Porsche, following a wedding that had occurred in Book 1 (DO NOT WORRY, you do not have to read the first book to read this) between Izzy and Parker and she feels alive with him!

Izzy does not do dating! She refuses! I mean why bother! The rules are in place to protect her heart. As much as I loved her, there were a couple of times where I thought you dick, sorry but true. I understand why she was protecting herself, some of her actions though to get a reaction were harsh. I also loved that Parker made her step out of her comfort zone and that is what scared her and to resist him.

Parker does not care for her rules and is just as stubborn as Izzy! He sees Izzy as a challenge, one he is going to win. The dates he takes her on and the way he sets them up was fabulous (her own friends betraying her to help Parker was hilarious), you really do want your own Parker! The dates were so different and fun! I loved that on the first date, he handcuffed Izzy to him so she could not get away! They a group date which was funny and sounded like great fun (until the pub incident IZZY!!), I mean paintballing in the boob ouch!! There was part of a date where there is a Frozen drinking game, which I may at some point try because it sounded hilarious and like a very drunken affair! Epic!

I loved that Parker pushed the boundaries with Izzy, he saw something special in Izzy, something we all could see but she couldn't, she was too far broken. But she finally caught up, in the end, learning that she could give in to her fears and learn to love again. He is her knight in shining armour with his own insecurities, both living with a loss and both scared of where their adventure will take them.

You do not need to read the first book, as some of it is explained in this book. This book starts with a continuation of book 1, which was fine but apparently, we have more Parker so I am going to go back and read it!

I am so happy to learn that there is another book coming out in August 2018 (Whoop whoop!), and this is based on Lacey! I can't wait to find out more! Plus Book one is going on my TBR list so that I can catch up with Hope and Daniel, and how they met as it was teased in this book.

We learned that when it comes to love and heartbreak all the rules just go out the (Porsche) window!!

Dating Rules was just fun, funny, laughing often. This was most certainly a sexy rom-com with words that could make you just feel real good. It was a light-hearted romance that gave you much to smile about. I enjoyed it a great deal. It was a simple, yet captivating read that helped the afternoon pass by just smoothly.

Izzy and Parker find that they are attracted to each other. There was one thing that prevented action being taken. Izzy was not going to allow herself to just follow blindly into unknown waters. Izzy had rules to dating and she was not going to deviate from them. Parker on the other hand was a man that when he wanted something or someone he went for it all in. Over the course of some dates they both learn something new about themselves and each other. This was full of fun.

The writing was fun, light, and done well. The characters were not overly complicated or hard to get to know. Both Izzy and Parker had something that just lulled you in to a sense of security in them being a friend you were watching fall in love. This one may have been my first read from Keeley Holmes, but I certainly hope that I get the chance to read more from her.

If you are looking for a fun, flirty and sexy whirl-wind romance, then this book is for you! This is the 2nd book in the Serendipity Series by new British author Keeley Holmes. You do not have to read the series in any order.

I absolutely adore the characters in this series. This book is about Parker - the wealthy, confident, gorgeous singer, and his pursuit of Izzy - a stylish, stubborn, and independent girl who has so many rules about dating that Parker is determined to break them all.

Parker is relentless in going after what he wants, and what he does to win over Izzy is both endearing and hilarious. He is a charmer - sexy and swoon-worthy in every sense. I loved the dates he came up with - you will feel like you are taking a tour of Leeds right along with them! Parker & Izzy's close group of friends provide laughs and just the right amount of compassion and tough-love that they both need. You will fall in love with these characters and want to know what crazy adventures they are going on next!

Although Izzy's character frustrated me at times, once her walls come down you can't help but cheer for her and want to be one of her besties to share wine and cake with. This book will make you want to find your own sexy singer who will pull out all the stops to win over your heart. Well done Keeley Holmes! I'm looking forward to the next book!

I did enjoy this amusing romance story, it is the second book in the series but it's the first one I have read. It was very easy to read and didn't take long to get a feel for the characters and get into the story.

Izzy is a feisty character, I do like her but there were times where her stubbornness to stick by her rules really irritated me. I wanted to give her a shake and tell her to forget her stupid rules and open her eyes! They weren't stupid to Izzy though they protected her or so she thought.

I love Parker he is great very patient but also stubborn and determined to break Izzy's rules. He has ten dates to see if he can break them. It's not an easy task for him she makes sure of that, but aren't rules meant to be broken? The banter between them is great and quite amusing occasionally.

I did enjoy this book and will definitely recommend it to my book friends. I might just have to read book one now!

I loved Izzy and Parkers story. I loved how Parker wouldn't take no for an answer. How fistey Izzy is. However, I loved seeing the insecurities and weaknesses in them both. The chemistry between them is so electric. The sex was so HOT...

The story was well balanced and well written. I loved catching up with the other charchters from the forst book and lookong forward to reading Lucy and Malcoms story next.

Another fab book from Keeley. I devoured this one in a matter of hours. Parker is everything a book boyfriend should be and although the story mimicked that of Daniel and Hope it was still a lovely story to read and one I got drawn in to and wanted to be part of! Looking forward to reading Cupcakes and Chaos, these characters have become so loveable and I want to know how things progress for them all! Big thumbs up for Keeley again 😀

A great sequel

This is a fab continuation from book one.
I loved Izzys sass and felt all her heartache with the amazing words written.
I want a Parker in my life and love how he pushed and pushed at Izzys walls that she has been built.
