Firefly meets Terminator The war between the humans and the aliens is over. The humans lost. Gunner Jisse captains the Star Swallow, a ship that takes whatever job it can, from running guns for the Resistance to smuggling food to hidden human outposts. If the aliens discover what he’s doing, he and his crew are dead. Eve Harlowe sees visions. She’s always known her future is to be the mother of a champion, who will finally defeat the aliens and set humans free. The first step toward her fate is setting foot on Gunner’s ship. He’s destined to be the father of this champion. Gunner’s not interested in any of that. He thinks seeing the future is hogwash until Eve sees an attack that comes to bloody fruition. If it weren’t for annoyances like busted rescav thrusters and firefights in space, he’d have gotten Eve off his ship already. Because the aliens have visions as well, and they’ve identified Eve as a threat. The aliens will chase her to the dark corners of the galaxy with one goal. Destroy.
Plot was interesting but I didn’t appreciate the graphic sex scenes or coarse language. Totally unnecessary. A number of spelling and grammar mistakes as well.
Heavy on the romance and light on the 'science' fiction, Pursuit is clearly from the mind of a Firefly fan, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but everything from the characters, settings and plot points were lifted from Serenity. A broken veteran takes on the chosen one as cargo on his privateer ship along with his crew member Saffron, but she's being hunted by an alien race who chase them all over (let me know if this sounds familiar), but the aliens only come one-at-a-time for some reason in pretty much the same method. ...Then the last third of the book is more graphic sex than anything else. If that's your thing, have at it but I think it detracts from the rest of the story. Firefly certainly had its romantic suggestions but was intriguing enough to not need everything so explicit.

Good space opera. The war is over and humans lost to the aliens. But there are the visions. And they foretell a champion for the human race being born to a specific woman, and with a specific father. Now's the time. Only problem: future Mom and future Dad hate each other. Meanwhile, the aliens are hunting down humans throughout the galaxy. This is a fun book, even sexy at times, with lots and lots of good action, mostly planet-side, but occasionally in space as well. Val St. Crowe (V.J. Chambers) is an excellent writer and I look forward to the next book in this series.
I enjoyed the characters in this story and sure hope there is a second book to this. I wasn't totally left hanging (that's why I only gave 4 stars). A lot of the story could be considered 'finished'. As long as you forget the total vision lol waiting for the sequel.....
Here is a short story that was turned into a novel by page filler. Uninteresting tangents that lead nowhere. Take out the sex and reference to the female period and a 4th grader might be interested.
