“There they are.” Chase’s voice rolled up the slope. Even hollering his voice sounded flat and lifeless like someone had drilled a hole in his body, and his soul had leaked out.

Drugs infiltrate Tyler Higgins’ middle school turning ordinary kids into brain dead druggies. When his friend is infected, Tyler decides to cut the small town drug flow by ratting out the dealer before it’s too late.

Shadowing drug runners is risky business. A bowhunter has already disappeared, and Tyler’s true adversary remains veiled. After his first spying mission misfires, Audrey, his classmate, volunteers to help, but Tyler can’t imagine where this mission will lead. Everything goes sideways, but he doggedly follows the twisting trails, risking his friendships and his own neck. In the end, he isn’t sure who he can trust or if he can rescue anyone—including himself.

Book 3 in the Intense Series, Chase continues the adventures of Tyler Higgins.

This was the most intense of the three books. Tyler has noticed a change in some of his friends. He is sure there is a drug problem in his school. His plan is to find out who is dealing the drugs. The problem is that they need to find the person at the top of the chain. Tyler and some of his friends come up with a plan. They are going to track these drug dealers to get to the bottom of the problem. But the woods are full of problems. Sometimes the ones you think you can trust are the ones you need to avoid. Will this adventure cost Tyler and his friends their lives? These books are so good that I read one a day. I stayed up to finish them each night. I look forward to reading many more books by this author.

Glenn Haggerty doe it again. He packs more action, more suspense, more adventure, more drama and more insight into a single story than seems possible. Tyler Higgins is struggling with the issues of being a middle schooler trying to figure out life when one of his best friends gets involved with drugs. Since the problem is growing in their town, and the police don't seem to be very effective at stopping it, Tyler decides he must take action to save his friend. But that decision leads him into close encounters with the kids pushing drugs and the dealers behind them. In spite of the danger, his commitment only intensifies when he suspects that his brother might be getting pulled into the drug world. The tension, suspense, action and adventure build until it looks like Tyler is trapped with no possible way out. Mr. Haggerty is a gifted writer who manages to capture the essence of early adolescence, the angst and optimism of that age, and the issues kids face today. Woven throughout the story are spiritual truths and a little romance. This is another brilliant effort by an author who's books I always look forward to reading. I've never been disappointed yet. You won't be either.

I requested an advance copy of this book so that I could give it an honest review because Mr. Haggerty's two previous books were so outstanding.

Chase finds Tyler Higgins again trying to navigate friendships and stop bad guys, this time in a crime that has implications not only for Tyler and his family but the entire town.

Since the last book, Run, Tyler has sorted out the bullies from the potential friends- mostly. But he's added another complication: friendship with the girls at his lunch table, particularly Audrey. Audrey's attention has Tyler second guessing both her feelings and his at every turn.

As Tyler's friend Jake develops an increasingly dangerous meth habit, Tyler, Audrey et al are drawn into trying to track the drugs back to the meth brewer before Tyler's little brother gets caught in Jake's web.

There are some twists and turns along the way as characters' allegiances are questionable. Are they good guys or bad guys?

Glenn Haggerty has created a relatable character in Tyler Higgins, one that will especially appeal to young teen or tween boys. The power of prayer and God's hand in our lives comes through without being intrusive. Chase is an engaging story that kept me interested and invested through to the end!

Glenn Haggerty captured my attention the moment I read the first line of his action adventure Chase. The novel tackles the world of drugs in a middle school setting. He well demonstrates the devastating impact of drug use on the lives of young people and the ruthless tactics drug dealers use to promote their product.

The book keeps the reader engaged with its fast action and insight into the motivations of the characters. Tyler Higgins stands above the crowd with his desire to rescue his friends from the grip of addiction, even at the risk of grave personal danger. When he fears his brother may fall prey to the use of drugs, he is even more determined to see the drug dealers’ operation brought to a halt.
Haggerty captures the thoughts and feelings of teenagers as he creates realistic scenes that reflect the humiliation of being bullied, the shaky ground of teen romance, and the strong bonds that develop between friends.

I would recommend this book to young people facing teen issues and parents/grandparents who wish to gain insight into the challenges confronting today’s teens.

Tyler Higgins is still the new kid in town who finds it hard to make friends among the clique-ish academy where he attends school. It gets worse when his friend turns to drugs. Tyler determines to help stop the increasing attraction to meth by finding the meth supplier and turning him in to police. But each step gets him deeper in trouble with the dealers until he lands himself and two close friends in the clutches of evil with no apparent way out.
The results of meth use are portrayed well in this story, as well as the ups and downs of middle-grade friendships. Boys especially will enjoy the action and suspense, which had my heart pounding and left me as breathless as the characters at the climax.
Another well-done novel from Glenn Haggerty.

I received an ARC of this book from the author. This is my honest review.

For Tyler Higgins, the drug trafficking in his community and school has become personal. It's destroying his best friend and now threatens more people he loves. The problem is that the police don't care about juvenile users; they're only interested in the source. Tyler resolves to find the dealer but doesn't realize the drama and danger his spying operation is going to cause him.

Haggerty writes high-stakes suspense and an unrelenting plot that kept me riveted to the story. His teenage characters are complex, believable, and take responsibility for their problems. He has mastered the teenage point-of-view character, and I think his voice will strongly resonate with teens, especially young men.

Note: I received an advanced copy of this book but was not required to provide a positive review.

Glenn Haggerty's Intense series is a great one for your tween or teen, especially for a boy who enjoys a lot of action and suspense and doesn't mind some violence. All three books kept this *older* girl interested. I advise starting with RUN or with ESCAPE (and moving on to RUN) before reading CHASE, book three. I think the reader will want to understand the characters and their backgrounds before reading CHASE. If more background on the characters had been worked in gently, CHASE could've been a read-alone.

Haggerty is once again good at clever descriptions in this novel. The pace is fast, and the story intense (no surprise). I would've preferred the entire story be told from the POV of the young characters instead of several scenes from the POV of the adult criminals. But I am by nature a one-or-two POV reader.

I received an ARC of this novel, and this is my honest review.

Chase is an action-packed story about Tyler, a middle school boy who wants to stop his best friend from using drugs. When the friend refuses help, Tyler and kids from his church’s youth group plan to find the source of the drugs and shut it down. But evil forces conspire against them, leaving Tyler questioning who is friend and who is foe.

Chase broaches middle school issues including friendship, peer pressure, addiction, dating, responding to authority figures, and more. Discussion questions in the back of the book further explore those topics, which make it a great resource for not only middle school students but their parents and teachers as well.

Totally awesome.....the action and excitement continues to escalate becoming more ‘INTENSE’ as the saga of Tyler and ‘Little Bro’ Dylan continues. Haggerty’s storytelling has a foundation built upon positive moral and spiritual values that young and old readers alike can greatly benefit from.

My girls and I just finished reading Glenn Haggerty's books, Escape, Run, and Chase. If your kids are looking for an exciting, thrilling adventure, we recommend them. The third one is especially intense. I'm currently suspicious of certain vehicles now because of it.

CHASE is a hard-hitting novel about the impact and dangers of drug abuse at Tyler Higgin’s middle school and in his community. Alarmed to find his best friend hooked on meth, he is on a rescue mission. Only now, he is catapulted into another kind of danger when he meets face-to-face with the dealer.

Haggerty has a knack of showing all sides of an issue from the point-of-view of teens, parents, school authorities, law enforcement, and drug dealers. He depicts their roles with tact and sensitivity, yet without sacrificing the truth of sin and its negative consequences. This book is a fast-paced read that will spike your pulse from start to finish, but will leave you thinking about the story and how it applies to your own community.

A former middle-school teacher, I know how peer pressure can entice students and this story illustrates how it can happen. For this reason, I recommend this book to teens as well as teachers, youth workers, and parents who want to prevent drug abuse. CHASE contains some violence.

An ARC was provided from the author for my honest review.
