New York Times and USA Today bestselling author A.C. James writes paranormal romance and erotica, including Eternal Ever After (rebranded as Eternal Lover), featured in the bestselling Spice Box anthology. Her Ever Dark Immortals Series, which begins with Eternal Lover, has been described as “brimming with sensuality” and “romantic and sizzling hot.” The Isle of the Horse Shifters series starts with Ride: Awakening and is “lighthearted,” which is a “joy ride from beginning to end.”
She resides in the Philadelphia suburbs with her adoring husband Ron (aka Mr. A.C. James), who loves her imaginative yarns and punny sense of humor. She’s also a domestic violence advocate and discusses intimate partner violence and addiction to raise awareness on social media and through her writing. Many of her books include themes like alcoholism or addiction. If you love books that feature underdogs and redemption, her stories will capture your heart.
She spends most of her time drinking large vats of coffee while wrangling kids by day and writing by night. Recovering video game beta tester and tech geek who grew up going to cons and watching SmackDown. There’s probably some cosplay pictures around somewhere of her dressed up as Bloodberry from Saber Marionette J. Just don’t tell anyone.
>Book Review – Ride >I am an independent reviewer. This book contains the complete box set of the Ride series (books 1 through 12) and ends with an HEA. The story deals with Puca, which are shape shifting horses in ancient Ireland. Humans do not know Puca are real anymore. Puca are an Irish legend now. Later in the box set, an evil human, Nathan, writes a book exposing Puca to the world. Seems like humans are fairly accepting, but hate groups appear, as is usual for humans. >Felicity, Cynthia and Sage are all humans and their stories deal with their mating to the Puca, Niall, Fallon and Maeliosa. The descriptions of the ancient land all of the Puca live in are lush and inviting. The story line with Sage showing his Navy SEAL skills tries to tie the ancient realm to the present with satisfying success. >This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the book 4 stars. The book had a few major editing errors. In one scene Fallon is nude, but in the next sentence, he is removing his pants. In another scene the incorrect character is named, Victor, not Vincent. These types of errors take the reader out of the story.
Ride was a new type of shifter for me and I’m really liking it. It’s a series not to be missed. I loved the introduction of Felicity as a shy but strong paranormal journalist. She grabs her girlfriend Cyn for a work assignment/holiday and off they go. Cyn is a firecracker. While Felicity is investigating, she runs into Niall. I could just feel the tension between her and Niall. I liked that this book didn’t drag out the secrets. I was hooting and high fiving for Felicity when she was strong and stood up to Niall.
There is the mystery of why the Puca have been called forward and all who is involved. Felicity is still investigating even if she in more danger than she realizes as she gets further involved. I loved how she kicked butt and wasn’t afraid to fight.
Niall risks losing both his mate and his sister. Niall and Felicity need to survive and make their relationship work. -- Cyn, Felicity's best friend, tagged along to celebrate her birthday. Cyn who doesn’t quite believe the truth. Combine lots of drinking with a sexy guy leading you off to meet a friend and suddenly Cyn’s not in Kansas anymore! Or anywhere else with appropriate cell phone service.
I really like Cyn and can relate. Cyn and Fallon are such a match! They both can’t vocalize what they want and don’t want to impose on the other. I love Cyn but at the same time want shake her and make Cyn see what she really wants. Oh No! Just when I thought the pieces were falling into place for Cyn, the author goes and pulls the rug out on me!
WOW, Cyn's story has been a journey! I have been on edge during the story. While waiting to see if Cyn gets her happy ending, finding out about Felicity, and being really ticked off with Nathan. It seemed like there would not be a resolution of everything in time. There was a nice amount of the story focusing on Felicity and Niall. In true fashion for the rest of the story, Cyn might have found her way home, but not everything is over. The delicious epilogue has me tuned in for the third set. --
Yeah! A new phase to the Ride Series starts with Sage. He has come to the Isle looking for help and Maeliosa is willing to give him a chance. Maeliosa was so different than the previous times we've seen her. It was good to see Maeliosa happy and not cynical anymore. Sage was a strong addition to the story. He has a lot to be revealed. I loved him as a match for Maeliosa. Maeliosa makes her leap of faith for Sage and they are quick to establish their bond.
At the same time Cyn finds out the danger she is in from Nathan and his new friends. Nate is still a loopy mess. The suspense and danger is heightened as we have to wait with Fallon and feel his anger and fear. Cyn is strong but she's only human. The emotions were quite worked up in this story.
Fallon is headstrong and stubborn in wanting to save Cyn and keep everyone else safe. It is a fast paced venture into the city with a lot of high stress emotions.. on the part of me as the reader! This was one bang of an ending to a series. I kept waiting for things to fall apart. All of the action to save Cyn. And Maeliosa being strong for both of them. Sage working with Fallon. It was like an orchestrated ballet but with a lot more anxiety and worry. Making sure that the good guys win and that everyone is safe. The ending was sweet and endearing. Best of all the ending left it so that there was room for more should A.C. James decide to revisit this series. Love this series and how beautifully it's woven.
The first thing that I disliked about this book was that the first time a female turned into a mare the author described her as a stallion! The second thing was that the characters kept changing! Cyn is described as being a plus size model at 5' 10". Felicity said of herself that she was shorter than Cyn and round. A little later she was a foot (!?) taller than another female character! Maeliona also changed in description from one book to another! The third thing is that I absolutely detest serials! If it hadn't been available in the full version I wouldn't have bothered. Fourthly - Nathan's volte face was too extreme and the plots were very thin and weak, especially in the third book. The villains were laughable. Fifth - the attempts at accents was atrocious. So, was there anything that I liked? Well the basic idea was good if poorly executed. Overall I have to admit that I can't recommend this unless you are really not fussy about the points I raised. You might love it!
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this collection. It helped to keep me focused having all of the stories together at one time. I loved the main characters, and the way they worked through their personal issues to recognize the love that was truly important. I especially like the melding of the human characters with the shifters. Would definitely like to see and read more of this series and would recommend it to shifter-loving readers.
This series did not make a lot of sense to me. I don’t understand how the book’s characters seemed not to be built very sturdy. The books seemed like a big rush of scenes which stopped the story from flowing seamlessly. I got lost and kept having to reread the figure out what was happening. Not a feeling I wanna revisit in a series.
Yup you read it here, Pucas are real! The shifters are stallions that love hard and family is everything. This story takes you a never ending ride, plots, thrills, adventure, mystery....all in the realm of the Puca. I love this bundle! So much easier to read in the collection then 1 book at a time...I think I found my newest author hee hee hee.
Three couples, three babies, and three love stories. This series was an excellent read and did not give over to boredom. Damsels in distress Knights in plain clothes Heroes and heroines. This Series has it all.
I am so glad I got the entire box set. I really enjoyed this series. Humor, suspense, romance and paranormal all wrapped up in 12 episodes that flow so well you wish you could step right into that world and become family.
This box set is an awesome read. I had such a hard time putting it down. I mean who needs sleep when you’ve got this many books to read together...not me. I loved each one. Each couple that mated together had a great story. Perfection.
I read the series one book at a time. What a deal to have them all together. This is the series that introduced me to the author and I am now a fan for all time. Horse shifters? I was kinda a wolf, bear, dragon, cat---or darn, I'm really getting into most any shifter. This was my first intro to a horse shifter. I loved the historical fable aspect and all the characters. Strong, feisty women, alpha men who sometimes just need the kind of woman they aren't used to. The evil guys get worse as the series goes on. This is just a teaser and a recommend. Read the blurb and I dare any shifter romance fan to pass this up.
The Author has a good style and an interesting twist on shifters. I was captivated from start to finish and was left wanting more when the stories ended. I was unable to put the book down one I started it and the author sure knows how to tell a story and leave you hanging. The author was able to grab my interest from the start and I couldn’t put the book down once I started it.
