What is a Flirt? The Love in Bloom big-family romance world has become so widely enjoyed, I have been asked by thousands of readers to write the stories of our beloved side characters. While I couldn’t possibly fit in writing full-length novels for each of them while maintaining my normal publication schedule, I’ve created flirts. Flirts cover twenty-four to forty-eight hours of two side characters’ lives on their path to their happily ever after, while also updating readers about their favorite main characters. Flirts vary in length and heat levels. I hope you love these quick, fun, sexy stories as much as I enjoy writing them.
If this is your first Love in Bloom story, then you have a whole series of loyal, sexy, and wickedly naughty heroes and smart, sassy heroines to catch up with. The characters from each family series within the Love in Bloom world cross into other family series and make appearances in future books so you never miss an engagement, wedding, or birth. LOVE AT LAST by Melissa Foster is book 6.5 in the The Bradens at Peaceful Harbor, MD Series. This is the story of Cal Hayden and Rachel Gray. I have read the previous book but feel you can make this a standalone book. Cal has always loved Rachel but due to family issues he hasn't made a move toward her. Now with his family settled down and moving forward after their tragedy, Cal decides to do the same. Rachel too has always had feeling for Cal but thinking he never felt the same way. Loved reading this short, hot and overall great story.
I really enjoyed the chemistry between Rachel and Cal and while it may seam that it was instalove it really wasn't because these two did have time to become friends first and had been around one another for years. If you are looking for a great quick read I would recommend you giving this flirt a try, I can bet once you finish it you'll be wanting to get to know all the Bradens. Happy Reading!
This is a novella in a very expansive series. It’s meant to be able to be read as a standalone and while the main characters’ story made sense out of context of the series, I struggled with the huge number of supporting characters I didn’t know and would have gotten more out of it had I been more familiar with the series.
Love at Last is a very short (I read it in a couple of sittings, but it overall took less than an hour) and sweet romance of two friends finally managing to be in the right place emotionally to take the plunge and be together. Having not read other books in this particular series before, I was definitely a bit lost when it came to the vast number of supporting characters mentioned, but the story of Cal and Rachel was incredibly sweet and charming. Being so short, the story could have felt like instalove, but even without reading them as supporting characters in other books, Foster does an excellent job of setting up the story and explaining that this was really a long time coming for both characters. All in all, it was a quick easy read and intrigued me to consider checking out some of the other books in this particular series.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is a very sweet and sexy read - and gives fans of the main series a wonderful catch up of how everyone Braden is getting along in Trusty, Colorado.
Cal and Rachel were fated to be together, but Cal has been too busy with work and family to give her the attention he wanted to, so she has been thinking maybe he didn't really care at all. Surrounded by mutual friends who are just waiting for it to happen, we soon understand that Cal is about to make a move.
Once they do finally talk to each other seriously, it is from 0 - 60 in no time at all, but one could hardly see it as being too fast, given the foundations built over many years. I love that they can be so open and direct with each other at last - it is refreshing and utterly enchanting, as well as hot as sin!
I love Ms Foster's writing style, so getting a short treat in between longer novels is a great way of getting a Foster fix!
Rachel Gray is getting frustrated. Cal Hayden may be too late. This may be a sweet romance but that doesn’t mean you won’t need to keep your fan handy. I felt like a Southern woman back in the day that would fan herself and say “Lordy!” – possible film reference here. I also felt like I needed to buy or make a pie – that’s all I’m going to say on that subject. You’ll just have to read the book for yourself.
I knew this was going to be short going in but I was still left with my mouth hanging open – now what! Then I turn the page and go “aw!” I have yet to read all the Bradens of Peaceful Harbor so I will have to see which book or books coincide with the secondary characters here so I know which one(s) to read next. Our author is always finding new ways to entertain us and I can’t wait to see where she’s going to take us next.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
I have been waiting for Cal's book since he was introduced in Slope of Love, one of my favourite books!!!
Cal and Rachel have been dancing around each other for so long that Rachel starts to wonder if they will ever get together, so much so she starts to pull away. This then gives Cal the much needed push to make his move.
There are so many sweet and adorable moments in this book that had me melting and to catch up with past characters was a fabulous bonus.
An absolute delight to read and read and read and read.... you get the picture.
Rachel Gray has been yearning for the hot sexy cowboy Cal Hayden since the first time she laid eyes on him. Cal has been hot for Rachel for a long time but he needed to have his life in order before he felt ready to go beyond the flirting stage to claiming the beautiful Rachel as his own. When the two finally come together it’s like they were always meant to be together and they feel like they have already been a couple for years; it’s simple and they are like to piece of a puzzle finally fitting in together. This is the first “Branden Flirt” short story and I loved it! It’s a light, quick read but still filled with Melissa Foster’s passion for her characters and tons of emotions. I was thrilled to get a peek into the Braden’s world and see how their lives are evolving! Novels, Novellas and now Flirt’s (short stories); Melissa nailed it!!!
Love at Last (The Bradens at Peaceful Harbor, MD #6.5) by Melissa Foster 3.5 stars M/F Romance I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
This is a sweet, short story about two people who are dancing around their attraction and finally are able to see that they belong together. It is a cute story where you get to see the culmination of their flirting and attraction.
Cal and Rachel's interactions have been flirtatious for months. Rachel believes that they could be happy, but because Cal has never made his move, Rachel has decided that she needs to move on.
When Cal sees a new resolve in Rachel, he knows that he needs to make his move or lose her forever.
Seeing these two come together and how much their friends love them is sweet. It's a quick read for anyone wanting to see a HEA.
LOVED IT! This was a super sweet and sexy little story. Even with it only taking place in just a couple of days, it was a complete story. Nothing was missed. Cal and Rachel were just meant to be and you can read that in the pages so it isn’t necessary for them to have a full length novel. This was absolutely perfect for them! You will smile and swoon thru the entire story. #TRUST
I love these FLIRTS from Melissa Foster. What's a flirt you ask? Well its all the yummy goodness of Melissa's world but with some of the secondary characters we meet along the way and want to know more about!
Cal and Rachel's story was the perfect little instalove story that gives you a taste of the fun inside a Love in Bloom novel.
Love at Last was A Braden Flirt as part of the Love in Bloom series by Melissa Foster.
Rachel Gray and Cal Hayden had been crushing on each other ever since they met two years ago; however, Cal wasn’t in a position to act upon it until now.
Foster brought us a sweet story that hinted to the yearning of the past few years but was culminated in one event at the town festival. It was well written and a fun, quick read while catching up with all the Trusty, CO Bradens. There was no drama just a sexy, sweet HEA.
"She wanted to memorize this moment. To remember the way her heart pounded so hard she knew it wanted to beat right beside his, and how he'd erase any doubts she had."
"Do you feel it Rachel? Has our time come, or did this cowboy lose his shot with the only woman he wants?"
If you're looking for a quick and sexy read, then look no further, Love At Last is the novella for you. Love At Last hits the ground running and pulls you in instantly. From the moment we meet Cal and Rachel, sparks are flying all over the place. Their chemistry is undeniable and it was fun watching these two flirt and dance around their connection. You just knew these two were destined for one another and watching them fall was soooo much fun!
Love At Last hit all the marks for me when it comes to novellas. It was quick. It was sexy. It was drama free and just a straight up love story. It is definitely the kind of read you can curl up with and devour in just a few short hours. One of the things I love about Melissa Foster's books is that they all can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone novels. The stories are real. They are sweet and swoon-worthy with just the right amount of steam and sexy good times. It's the kind of story you can just jump right in to and fall helplessly in love with. I know I did! Love At Last was just the read I was looking for and has me wanting to go back and read the previous books in this series that I have yet to discover.
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
Für diesen Flirt kehrt man für eine kurze Zeit nach Trusty, Colorado zurück, wo ein Teil der riesigen Braden-Familie Zuhause ist. Dort trifft man auf alte Bekannte, u.a.
Love at Last (Love in Bloom Book #30.5) by Melissa Foster. The Love in Bloom series proved to be a heartwarming journey through love, family, and personal growth. Spanning multiple interconnected series/stories, it offers a wonderful blend of romance, humor, and emotional depth that kept me reading the whole way through. Ms. Foster crafted fully developed, relatable, and multidimensional characters who added an extra element of emotion and interest to my overall reading experience. The heroes are fiercely loyal and endearing, while the heroines are smart, empowered, and refreshingly ‘real’. Each character feels like someone you could know in real life, making their struggles and triumphs, high and lows, all the more impactful. The stories have a perfect balance of steamy romance mixed with heartfelt moments. But that doesn’t mean that Ms. Foster shies away from exploring deeper themes like forgiveness, self-discovery, and the complexities of relationships – adding dynamic layers to the storyline/s. But, despite the emotional depth, the series still maintains more of a lighthearted charm, sprinkled with humor and tender family connections. While each novel can be read as a standalone, there is an interconnectedness with the recurring characters and overlapping storylines - which help create a sense of community that feels warm and inviting. It’s like being welcomed into a big, loving family where everyone has a worthwhile story to tell. ‘Within the Love in Bloom big-family romance collection you'll find fiercely loyal heroes and smart, empowered women on their search for true love. They're flawed, funny, and easy to relate to. Characters from each series appear in future Love in Bloom books…’ If you are a fan of contemporary romance or simply looking for a feel-good series to escape into, this series is a worthwhile binge read… Love in Bloom is made up of the following series: - Snow Sisters - The Bradens (Weston, CO) - The Remingtons - The Bradens (Trusty, CO) - The Bradens Novellas Collection - The Bradens (Peaceful Harbor, MD) - Seaside Summers - Bayside Summers - The Ryders - The Steeles at Silver Island - The Silvers at Silver Island - Wild Boys After Dark - Bad Boys After Dark - The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor - The Bradens & Montgomerys, Pleasant Hill – Oak Falls - The Bradens at Ridgeport - The Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside - The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Redemption Ranch - Romantic Comedy Series Collection - Sugar Lake - Harmony Pointe - Harborside Nights - Nice Girls After Dark - The Steeles - The Stones - Blazing Summer - The Brays
If you’ve never “been stopped cold at the sight of the most perfect Levi’s-clad butt” you’ve ever seen, then you need to stop what you’re doing right now and get started on the newest “Flirt” story from Melissa Foster!
According to Melissa, “Flirts” vary in length, and cover twenty-four to forty-eight hours of two side characters’ lives (out of many included in her multitude of wonderful stories) on their path to happily-ever-after. Melissa also updates us on a few of our favorite main characters along the way.
Cal Hayden has had a lot of heartache over the past few years after losing his father. Because of this, he has focused his life on training horses and nothing else. It seemed the best way to deal with his grief was to forget the outside world and the people in it.
Rachel Gray could have any cowboy she wanted but she has always wanted the one guy in town who didn’t seem to notice her: Cal. Lately, the flirting seemed to be hotter than usual, but was she reading more into it than it really was?
It takes one small misunderstanding at the Trusty Spring Festival for things to change forever with them.
Don’t miss this sizzling love story and a chance to visit old friends Jake and Fiona, Callie and Wes, Emily and Dae, and Daisy and Luke, and more as you take a trip to Trusty, Colorado for this adventure!
Note: This ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review, the entirety of which can be read on Dog-Eared Daydreams.
Because I've never read any of the other books where Cal Hayden and Rachel Gray were part of as supporting characters, I have no idea how much of their back story was mentioned before. I'm also unfamiliar with the handful of other characters that are part of this novella, and I confess that I did feel a wee bit lost because there wasn't just one or two of them interacting with Cal and Rachel. This isn't something new with as far as books in the Love in Bloom umbrella series is concerned, but Foster provides enough to keep it all interesting.
This was a quick read, but it's also one that's perfect for those short bursts of time that I have in the middle of the day where I want to squeeze in an hour of reading to satisfy the romance reader in me. I liked the chemistry between Cal and Rachel, and while there were quite a few other secondary characters milling about, the spotlight really was on the two of them, allowing me to focus fully on their story and become invested in them. I'm curious to see who the next Braden Flirt will be about, but I hope it'll be as good as Love at Last. Four stars. ♥
Love at Last features Cal Hayden and Rachel Gray. It’s a fast -paced friends to lovers novella set in Trusty, Colorado. The sexual tension between Cal and Rachel sizzles from the first page of the novella. Cal flirts out outrageously with Rachel and it’s apparent that he is very interested in her. Rachel flirts back but wonders why Cal hasn’t asked her out. Loved the smart, sexy dialogue between Cal and Rachel when they were selecting the scents for their candles. Cal was determined to make his move and it was so much fun reading how he captured Rachel’s attention and her heart! “Everything about you matters, darlin’, and your big heart is only one of the reasons you’ve captured mine.” Melissa Foster delivers a fabulous character driven romance in Love at Last. Enjoyed the couple’s connection, passion and the romance. Loved the scene where the couple danced to Brett Young’s “In Case You Didn’t Know”: it was perfect, sexy and oh so romantic! The novella is a standalone read. I have not read any of the full length novels in the Trusty series and connected to this couple immediately. The shorter length format worked for me because I could read the novella in one afternoon and meet some of the characters in the Trusty, Colorado series. Looking for a beach read---pick up Love at Last! Rachel and Cal’s passionate story will touch your heart!
"Endlich Liebe - Ein Braden Flirt ( Die Bradens at Peaceful Harbor 7 )" von Melissa Foster
Cal and Rachel are characters in previous stories from Melissa who have been eyeing each other for some time and needed to have their HEA. But Cal needed to get his head on straight and his life in order before he'd make a move. Super lucky he didn't wait a minute longer because Rach was just about done with the waiting. I loved catching up with everyone and finally seeing them FINALLY get together. Yeah, the "I Love Yous" feel like it happens fast, BUT, if you remember from past books, they've been tip toeing around each other for a while, so it's really not as fast as it seems. And when you know you know, right?
Just because it's a short story doesn't mean it's lacking in the flirty, sexy hotness. I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of novellas and short stories because either the story ends in a massive cliffhanger, there isn't any character depth, or it's just missing key elements. Rest assured, this story is a perfect Melissa-style story, only on a smaller scale. A Flirt. (Cute description, btw!)
Love at Last is a quick read and is meant to be read in addition to Melissa's Trusty, Weston, and Peaceful Harbor Bradens. If you're caught up with the Bradens you'll be a happy fan when you meet back up with them, their families, and their friends.
It's always a blast to go back to and visit with the Colorado Bradens! And I love, LOVE, LOVED getting to meet Rachel and get to know Cal better.
This was a much shorter book than your standard LIB novel from Melissa Foster. But there is a whole lotta awesome packed in the story.
The Braden families are growing and it is always such a treat to see what some of our favorites have been up to (Ross and Elisabeth have some fun news!) and what would a Braden update be without a new baby or two (I mean, I couldn't keep my hands off of a Braden if I had him so lots of babies should be expected, right?).
As far as Cal and Rachel go, there was enough of a backstory for the two of them build in that the whirlwind start of their relationship makes total sense. And I have a feeling this isn't the last time we see these two characters show up in a Melissa Foster story either!
This Flirt was a fun and easy read. Be aware it is shorter than a standard LIB book, but it's also priced lower too!
Take a quick trip back to CO and catch up with characters you love and meet a few news ones too!
I really like the idea behind this series. I've read several books with side characters that I wanted to hear more about and who unfortunately didn't get the attention that I felt they deserved.
This series takes side characters from previous Melissa Foster books and gives them their own happy ending. This book features the characters of Rachel and Cal who were previously featured in Crushing on Love and a few other books.
It's a cute, sweet (but steamy) little novella that takes place in the span of 48 hours. I can relate to Rachel a lot. Seriously, if the guy I had a crush on for years suddenly started flirting with me, I'd be confused too.
While this book can be read as a standalone, there are some cameo appearances by other characters from the Braden series. And while it can be a little overwhelming for a new reader to try and keep track of all the marriages and babies, luckily, the Bradens only appear in a few parts. Seriously, you could skim over their parts and still be able to follow the story. Once Cal and Rachel get together, it's them and only them, which I really appreciated.
I'm very curious about which characters will be the focus of the next book.
Overall 5 out of 5 stars Performance 5 out of 5 stars Story 5 out of 5 stars The Book Junkie Reads . . . 01-01-22
new couple short... Cal and Rachel have been somewhat dancing around each other for far too long. This short brings it all in to focus for them both. We are back in Trusty, CO. We get updates on the Braden family. We get to see a new romance long in the making. Cal and Rachel have been making eyes at each other for far too long. the time has now come for them to have a little piece of happiness in the is Braden Flirt.
There just something about secondary characters that make an impact that requires them to have their own story. Cal Hayden was one of them. He had been in love with Rachel Gray for eternity. She too had been longing so for him. Things just did not seem like they would go their way until that moment. Melissa Foster knows just how to give it that little something extra that had me falling in love again with a character that I was already for.
Lance and Ava bring all the characters to life new and old. All with a sense of familiarity and home.
It’s amazing what can happen in the world of romance in less than 24 hours.
Cal had been in love with Rachel from the first moment he saw her. Rachel had been crushing on him for a very long time. She couldn’t understand why he had started flirting with her so much. That was so unlike him because she knew he was a gentleman. She was frustrated with the fact that he never asked her out and decided that she wasn't going to let him "get under her skin" anymore.
For Cal, declaring his feelings had to wait until the right time. He was dealing with the loss of his father, and he also had to get his mother settled afterward. He wanted to make sure he was ready for a relationship rather than jump into something with her hastily.
When these two finally come together you can feel the pure magic of their newly declared love.
As a total lover of the Bradens, it was also fun to catch up with some of them as Cal and Rachel's story unfolds.
I loved this “flirt” selection. It was a quick, fun read.
Love at Last is a flirt by Melissa Foster. It is the story of Rachel and Cal, friends of the Colorado Bradens. Rachel and Cal have been flirting with each other for months, but at the Trusty Spring Festival they take the next step to forever love. I am not a fan of reviews that give the story away – but I will share that I loved this story and read it from cover to cover in one sitting. This book is a wonderful stand alone story and if you are new to the Love at Bloom family a great introduction. If you are already a fan – then this is a delightful way to catch up with many of the Bradens and their families. It is amazing that Melissa Foster is able to weave such an vibrant, true to life stories and keep all the characters straight in her head. I truly feel like I could meet any of this characters on the street.
Here are a few little teasers “I’ll take one hot cowboy with a side of baby.” “Darlin’, a love like ours comes only once in a lifetime, and it’s too big to go unnoticed.”
This is the first “flirt” from the Bradens of Peaceful Harbour. What is a flirt you ask? It’s a short story covering about 24 to 48 hours of a couple of the side characters in the full books and as a bonus we also get to spend time with our other main characters too. This books follows the story of hot, sexy and brooding Cowboy Cal Hayden and Rachel Gray. Cal has literally been in love with Rachel from the first time he saw her – think Love at First Sight and you’ll be right. Cal’s had a tough life and he’s a very careful and responsible guy and doesn’t feel that he can start a relationship with Rachel or any other girl before he get’s his life in total order. After his father dies from a terminal illness and now his mother is all settled he decides it’s time to finally make his move on Rachel, but has he waited too long??? What will happen when he does???? We also get to catch up with some of our other favourite friends. I loved this quick read and look forward to spending some more time with my other friend at Peaceful Harbour
Sexy, short, friends to lovers romance that is perfect for a quick read but without feeling you are missing the story
Love at Last is a sexy, short, friends to lovers romance that is perfect for a quick read but without feeling like you are missing out on the rest of the story. It can also be read as a standalone; I personally haven’t read the book(s) where Cal and Rachel were introduced and was easily drawn into their story.
Told from dual perspective, we get just enough of a glimpse into the long-term feelings of Cal and Rachel considering the book literally plays out over a couple days. There is heart and heat between the two main characters and just a general heartwarming bunch of other characters that made this a fun and enjoyable book that can easily be read in one sitting.
Looking for a short romance with a solid plot? Definitely grab this book - I loved it.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
LOVE AT LAST by Melissa Foster. This is a fun and fast story that entails romance, love and even a touch of heartache. I say that because my heart did hurt for all that Cal went through and for Rachel, having to wait for him. However, their love story is one to enjoy and cherish. Cal is delectable - he's is such a good guy, my heart melted at his words and actions. Rachel is one patient gal and my heart actually hurt a bit for her at times. Seeing the two maneuver through their journey was a joy to read and was uplifting too. Throughout the book, there are many references to characters from previous tales. While I enjoyed catching up with some, at times, I felt there were, maybe, a bit too many. Even having read most of the books of this series, it did get a bit overwhelming for me. However, Rachel and Cal's story still warmed my heart and made me cheer them on to reach their HEA. I enjoyed this "flirt" by Ms. Foster, and look forward to future "flirts" to see where some of her other "minor" characters journey to. (received ARC for honest review)
Love at last was exactly the book I needed. It was short which is the perfect length for me at the moment, it was sweet and it had the high quality I was expecting from a book written by Melissa Foster. It's a stand-alone novella that belongs in the Bradens at Peaceful Harbor series, so those who have read these books will see some familiar faces in this short story and catch up on them. Those who haven't won't have a problem getting into the story. For me, this book doesn't have insta lust/love. It 's the story of two people who have wanted each other for some time and they finally get to express their feelings and there is nothing wrong with that. I was very satisfied with the story and the characters. I didn't find a big flaw in the story and it was a good companion on a Friday night. I would recommend the book and I wonder when the next Flirt story will be released.
P.S. When I try to describe this book I think of those tiny sweets, you could eat with only one bite. Don't ask me why.
A short, sexy and fun read! With a quick dip into the Braden world in Trusty, Colorado, Melissa Foster brings us some updates on some of our favorite previous characters as well as a short glance into the start of Cal and Rachel's love story. Obviously with this short of a story, we don't get a huge amount of underlying conflict or resolution, but we get a sweet and steamy dalliance with a new couple!
Horse trainer Cal Hayden has been falling for the prettiest girl in town for awhile now, but he's had too much going on in his life to give her his all, so he's been standing back and admiring from afar. Now that he's finally settled enough to shower her with attention, he notices she isn't acting like she's all that into him anymore ... did he wait too long?
Hairstylist Rachel Gray has been crushing on Cal for what seems like forever, and she was hoping for something to come out of it, but she's getting mighty tired of the hot and cold he seems to throw her way on a regular basis. It might just be time for her to turn her sights on a more interested cowboy!
