He knew he wasn’t looking for anything pure or righteous. He’d never known tenderness, nor did he want to know. It didn’t fit with being Bratva. But when he met her, this tiny bundle of woman he almost wished he were different. There was something about her that appealed to something deep inside him. Something he never realized was even there. She had reached down deep into his soul and taken a piece of himself he didn’t know was even there. For her, he almost wished he was different. Because now that he had tasted her he wouldn’t let her go.
Raven She knew who he was and what he was but she never expected to be drawn to him. She had nothing to offer a man like him. He was one man she never should have met, let alone been allowed to taste. He was everything she’d ever dreamed of and so much more. She knew she should have walked away from him for her own sake. But if she did she’d be nothing more than a shattered soul....
I live in a small town in Wisconsin. From my deck, I can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. I live with my husband Dave and dog Buddy. My two children are grown and I have two grandchildren. I love to watch people and that has helped me with my writing. I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.
I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories, I could write I found I like mystery/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.
I liked this book, I really did. There’s some great characters and a lot going on but...
It was incredibly repetitive to the extent where I started to get frustrated having read some things several times.
For example:
Nikoli meets Carlos for the first time.
The door opened and Stephanou ushered Carlos into the room. Carlos looked around, first at Yuri then to Nikoli and finally he noticed Raven. He curled his lip at Raven but turned to address Yuri and Nikoli, “Gentlemen, my name is Carlos Lopez...”
Then just a day later.
“I think it is time to meet this Carlos character. And also this Andria,” Sergi suggested... I’ll take you to where they are being held,” Yuri offered. “I would also like to meet this man.” Nikoli sneered. “I have heard of him for years but never had the pleasure.....”
The first time Yuri and Raven have sex.
“Is it like that every time?” she wanted to know. “I mean I know you’ve had other women before but last night was my first time. I didn’t know it could be that way. It was incredible.” Yuri shook his head. “I’ve never felt quite like that before last night. Sex is mostly pretty good but last night, as you said, was pretty incredible.”
The next day.... Is she going to ask the same question every time they have sex?
“Wow,” she murmured. “That was amazing.” She turned her head and stared at him. “Is sex like that all the time?” Yuri shook his head. “Only with you. It’s never been like that with anyone else.” “Really?” “Yeah, really.”
Despite all the repetitions and mistakes this is still an enjoyable read although I have to say I never really felt any chemistry or connection between Yuri and Raven but I’m moving onto the next book with my fingers firmly crossed.
#### Well I did intend to move straight onto the next book but I can only find it in paperback.

this was an amazing read!!! Loads of action, sweet emotion, tons of family feeling, just enough steam to keep it interesting. a great plot, well rounded characters! Yuri and his Brothers are russian mafia, Raven and her brother Nikki are just street rats on the run from a small time thug who is trying to break into the new orleans mafia scene, Raven works at the hotel that Yuri owns, but when Nikki lifts his wallet by mistake things get complicated.. and everything the brother and sister thought about their lives are not as they were.... i received an arc of this story that i happily reviewed
Loved this book I can’t wait for the rest of them..I was hooked bright from the first sentence to the last word. Yuri and Raven have a love hate relationship. Raven is trying to keep herself and her brother Niki save and alive.. Niki isn’t helping by going to his old ways, even if it is just to keep his skills up to date, he steals Yuri wallet and Raven puts it back. Yuri is instantly in sex with her. Later on he comes to totally love her. They find out that Niki is the bosses long lost son and that Raven is the kingpins daughter and granddaughter, who was taken from her mother when she was born. Yuri claims her and protects her from danger. Finally Raven falls for him and the story continues.
ARE YOU READY??? Talk about getting caught with your pants! This is a fast paced, easy to follow read with twists and turns that will keep you frozen to your seat and your eyes glued to the pages until the very last word. A full range of emotions that lead to an undeniable chemistry that will rock your world. Scenes so real you can reach out and touch them. K. did an incredible job bringing this read to life. I'd recommend this tale to anyone who loves mafia bad boy romances.
Good entry start to this Russian mob series....reminds me of another series that got me hooked on the Russian mob and still waiting for next book in that series in what seems like freaking forever.Loved this couple!
YURI, oh Yuri .. Can I keep you? Forever?? Just forget about Raven and marry me!
I loved Yuri's relationship with Raven. I loved how stubborn, sassy, and independent Raven was. I loved her relationship with Nicky. The amount of twists in this book was entertaining and enjoyable. I love the whole mafia aspect and how so much was figured out in this story.
I can't wait to read the other books from this series.
I normally try to look for some positive, but I don't have much to work with here. There is a lot of backstory needed to understand the characters...unfortunately, Dahlen gives it all to us in a couple of paragraphs, rather than letting it unfold naturally. The narrator is a strong, invasive presence that distracts from the story. The characters themselves fluctuate drastically even in the first third of the book, and just when I've gotten a mental picture, both/either of the main characters will do or say something off the wall. Their tension is contrived and awkward. I can overlook the random misspelling or grammatical error, but I have to question whether this author is a native speaker---the errors made are reminiscent of one who has recently begun writing in English. Overall, the story doesn't hold together and is incoherent.
Wow plot twist much? Lots of OMG moments. There is a tad of instant love on Yuri’s part. The back story of the guys was interesting. Made you want to read the series. There is a pretty big age gap between Yuri and Raven.
What was not good was all the small errors that drive you nuts. Spelling people’s names wrong on the same page. I think her age of the characters kept changing too. Little thinks like that are more annoying then grammar errors. You almost want to ask if the writer knows her own characters.
If you like to read the same lines over and over, this book is definitely for you. When it came to the sex scenes, they were short and unimaginative, I would have liked to hear more about Ravens skills, given everything she went through.
4 Stars Blood Brothers Prequel – Bratva Blood Brothers Series by KJ Dahlen This prequel is the introduction to how the 5 blood brothers found one another at a young age. How they became a true family for one another and make decisions together. Yuri was the oldest and seemed to become their leader and yet he was their equal. They all looked out for one another and protected each other. As the story progresses we watch the five young boys grow to lean, strong teenagers. They show respect for their elders and fellow community. They earn themselves a reputation and along with it some enemies. They also find a father figure who teaches them to grow and become men. When an incident takes place they vow to get revenge. When the Bratva notices them, their lives take a different turn. The Bratva needs them as much as they need the Bratva. This is the beginning of a new journey for the young men. Can they stay committed to one another? Have they made the right decision? Overall this was a fantastic start for a new series. I was in awe of Roman. He was a good boy right from the word go; he stood his ground, but was fair in his execution. The first book is due to release soon and will be Yuri story.
Yuri – Bratva Blood Brothers Book One Yuri is part of the Bratva i(Russian Mob) n America. He has made a name for himself and has become wealthy in his own right. He is still feared by those who dare to cross him and his brothers. Raven has not had an easy life, but her one true love, is her brother Nicky. From an early age they were taught to steal and to not get caught. At the same time the monster who taught her, is the very same monster she has been hiding from for years. She has worked hard at making a better life for Nicky and herself, keeping them on the right path. She has blended in and works for Yuri’s restaurant, at one of his Hotels. Unfortunately, Nicky went against the path and pick pocketed a wallet from Yuri. When Raven finds out she decides to break into Yuri’s apartment and return the wallet. Yuri is made aware of the thief’s identity. When Raven is brought to him, more secrets are revealed and a whole web of lies and deceit are uncovered. At the same time Yuri, cannot help his attraction to this spitfire of a woman, who seems to hate him as much as he wants to devour her. Overall I really enjoyed this book. The author has thrown so many plot twist that all inter-link at the end of book one. The story is thick with deception and lies and uncovering the truths. So for the plot it really deserves 5 out of 5. However I did have few issues especially where parts of the story were repeated. I also did not feel the connection between Yuri and Raven. However I still really enjoyed this story and would recommend you to read it. If you can read the Prequel it will make it easier to understand all the characters in the book. Hot books and Sassy Girls
Don't get it wrong, I liked the story. There was just too much going on for me and the book ended abruptly. I looked at my kindle and it was at 26% so I'm confused on the page count. The men talked to much about their dealings. I felt as though nothing was a secret. Raven gave them a run for their money as she barely told anything until she was absolutely sure it needed to be told. Also, it was so repetitive. The author did a good job of setting up their back story. I just didn't love it. I would read the other books to see where it goes but I'm in no rush.
Editing issues and very repetitive for Bratva men. Lots of talking- not a lot of action. Also, the Bratva men and the bad men were quick to share info when I felt that they should have been more guarded or to draw out the story. Heck, Raven even holds her secrets better than the scary men. One more thing- I never felt a connection or love interest or any kind of chemistry between Raven or Yuri.
I did like the group of Bratva men, though, as they were good friends, and had each other’s backs. I liked the prequel that was at the start of Yuri’s book. I had hoped for a wonderful story based off of it.
I waffled in what to rate this... on the one hand, I did read the entire book (Yuri not all the other styff after) because I needed to know what would happen... but on the other hand... I probably should have just quit. The idea had promise, but the execution fell a little too flat. There were many editing errors that got to be annoying and the dialogue was a little too explanatory at parts. Like, over explaining when short and sweet would have sufficed. But I did feel the need to see it through to the end so... 2.5 stars
I tried. I really did. But the more I read, the more I wanted to gauge my eyes out.
I felt like I was reading the transcript of really bad telenovela. Stilted and awkward writing. Contrived dialogue. At least two male characters (including the hero) hit/backhand the heroine in the face because she won't give up her brother, and she just takes it. Then gives the hero her v-card because of course.
Russian Mafia🔪🔫 Novel with Adult Romantic💕 Elements
Raven💋💃 has led a twisted up deprived life since she was born. She lost her mother and was forced to live with Andria, a woman who didn't want her. When Andria brought a baby, Nicky , home she finally had someone to love, a brother. Andria went into hiding then, because the baby was the son of Nikoli🐺🔪🔫, the head of the Russian mob in the U.S.. Andria was a scorned mistress, so she got revenge by stabbing Nikoli's pregnant wife, and stealing the baby while his mother lay dying in the hospital.
Years Later...... Raven💃💋 and her brother Nicky, are hiding in plain sight from Carlos Lopez👹🔪🔫, a local mobster who trained them to steal for him. He will kill them both if he finds them. Raven💃💋 has something she stole from Carlos👹🔫🔪 that he desperately wants back. Desperately enough to torture and kill her.
Raven💋💃 and Nicky are now living in N.O. and she works at a Hotel restaurant owned by Yuri Anatoly🐺🔪🔫, the head of the Bratva in the U.S. When her brother steals Yuri's wallet in a bump and grab at the hotel, she is mortified. Both she and Nicky lived for years by petty thievery and burglaries. She is an accomplished thief. Dressed all in black, she sneaks into Yuri's penthouse and returns the wallet, almost getting caught. Yuri🐺🔪🔫 knows something is up, because the cameras capture moving shadows in his Penthouse. He has other cameras all over the hotel, and one of them has captured the moment of the theft of his wallet, and the thief, Nicky. Nicky is ID by his Restaurant manager, and that leads to Raven💋💃. Raven💋💃 is a tiny woman, only about five foot tall. Yuri🐺🍆🌋🔪🔫 towers over her at 6'6" and a bulky 350 lbs. He tries to intimidate her without success. Then he finds himself drawn to her sexually and mentally. Raven💋💃 is tough and resourceful, Yuri🐺🍆🌋🔪🔫 admires her stubbornness in protecting herself and Nicky. Nikoli🐺🔪🔫, the boss, wants Andria's head on a pole. He loved his wife and wants to catch Andria. He thinks Raven💃💋 can help him.
I liked the book📑, but most of the conversations used stilted language. I can see The Russian men talking English in a stilted way, but the author has Raven💋💃 talking that way too. We don't know if Raven💃💋 speaks Russian and can understand when the men speak it among themselves. . The book📑 is quite involved in the plot to figure out what happened to Nikoli's son and to find Andria. The xxx scenes are few, but intense. The ending was abrupt.
I had a small problem with the weight of the men, Yuri🐺🔪🔫 and Nikoli🐺🔪🔫. Unless they were both heavy duty body builders, they would have been way overweight. A good weight for Nikoli, a fit 6'4" man, is between 225 and 250. For Yuri at 6'6" , he should have weighed between 240 and 275. The Author has him at 350, way overweight, and it gave me the mental picture of a big guy with a huge belly. I am sure the author didn't intend for that to happen.
ARC Received for a Voluntary and Honest Review. I also bought the book through Kindle Unlimited.
The only reason that this book even got three stars was because the ending was pretty bad ass. So you have Rebel/Raven and Nicky who have pretty much grown up on the run from some dude named Carlos who trained them to be thieves. Raven decides that she and her brother will not be thieves and be sold into the skin trade so she and Nicky break out. Carl hunts them for there whole lives but eventually Nicky and Raven are able to settle down. All is well until Nicky sees one pocket that is to tempting not to pick. This target is Yuri and he is part of the Bravata family. Rebel knows this and does everything she can to make sure that Nicky doesn't get caught including breaking back into the mans penthouse to leave the wallet, using get this.... the freaking airvents! The girl is tiny and flexible. So When Yuri does catch up with her he basically strong arms her into telling him who stole his wallet in the first place. turns out Nicky is the son of Nickoli and Raven is the daughter of Misha and granddaughter of Sergi, the Head of the Bravata family. The plot would have been great but there was too much caveman she is mine, and back and forth you cant leave, I will leave, no you cant, yes I can... Like Dude really!

Edited to say this is a stuffed book on Kindle Unlimited and contains 4-5 of her MC books after the original book.
2.5 Stars
Mafia is one of my favorite genres so I am always looking for something new. I am very conflicted about this book; the premise is great and the storyline interesting the execution is another story. The editing is poor at best; misuse of pronouns, he versus him, verb, flatten vs flattened, and extra words that are not needed.
We get a few chapters at the beginning to introduce us to all the players and set up the series.
Editing 1.0
Character Descriptions 2.5 I had a hard time with most of the guys being close to 300 pounds in the descriptions; heights were no problem but even if your 6’6” 300 # is a lot.
Hero 3.5 Typical male Bratva attitude with the usual loyalty and style. Although he is a subordinate to Nikolai he is very much his own man.
Heroine 3 She is strong, brave and loving. She sacrificed quite a bit for her brother and instilled in him a code she insisted they live by.
Timeline 2 Meetings that are mentioned as important and never mentioned again even in passing and a day passing at light speed.
Storyline 3 I actually enjoyed the storyline and other than the annoying editing it had potential. Lots of twists and would have preferred a bit more to the resolution it was a little anticlimactic.
I had avoided writing a review about this book but I feel it wasn't fair. I 've buried other books for less.
First of all, this writer has no idea what the bratva is or does. I don't claim to be an expert, no siree, but one of the primary income sources of bratva is trafficking and prostitution rings. They most certainly hurt women. And bratva's members most certainly aren't chivalrous men with a code.
Then, there is a character named Igor Gustave. GUSTAVE. And he's supposed to be Russian. Do you know how many Gustaves Russia has? ZERO. Literally, zero. I checked. Do you want to know why? Because it's a French name and surname, that's why. At least his first name wasn't Claude or Jacques, that's gotta count for something, right?
Moving on, the main female character is like a 28-29 year old virgin who never had sex because she took care of her brother. HER VERY ADULT BROTHER who in the book's present is 20 years old or something. I mean, come the f**k on. Zero sense. Worst excuse ever.
All sex is vanilla. The most watered down vanilla sex there is.
The main male character is just a ridiculous caricature of a man. He is so jealous that the descriptions surpass by far the possessive boyfriend kink and float somewhere between a psychopath and a fully delusional paranoid dude who gets jealous when the main female character speaks WITH HER BROTHER. I can only think that a boomer would find this bit interesting and no one younger.
The story makes zero sense, the characters have no evolution whatsoever and the plot holes cover about 70% of the story.
Finally, the author seems to think, as she repeats it a few times, that it's only pedophilia if the child is male. FANTASTIC. This is a segment from the book:
2 Star Kindle Unlimited Read It was an okay start for a series. I was told that this is a translation from another language to English. Which could explain some confusion I had with the wording. I just wasn't in love with the whole insta love, especially as Yuri never took anytime getting to know her before claiming her as his woman.
That aside, I loved the little mystery tucked between the pages and how everyone was linked together.
I'll continue with the series, although I would love the opportunity to correct some of the words due to the assumed informed language barrier.
copy received for honest review 3.5 stars This is a good story with a lot of twist and turns. Quick paced with good action and a sexy hero. Yuri is older and the head the Russian Mafia in New Orleans. Raven is a young woman who has been on the run with her brother for most of their young lives. She has made sacrifices and protected him since day one. Both Yuri and Raven have secrets and when things are revealed they must make life altering decisions. good story with interesting characters
OMG! This wasn’t something I thought would happen. And will the story continue..... Loved the reaction from Yuri to be so protective of her. Glad Raven and Nicky have family now but I want more.... What happens with them, where is the revenge. I guess I expected more violence and retribution for what happened. Will it continue in Mikel ? Do Yuri and Raven stay together? Just wanted more....
“We are brothers by choice. Blood has brought us together and will forever hold us strong. Brothers we are and brothers we will always be.” -Bratva Blood Brothers
"Yuri (Bratva Blood Brothers, #1)" was an exciting suspenseful romance! Heroine, Raven Casseni's brother Nicki had just stolen the wallet from the hero, Yuri Anatoly leader of the New Orleans Bratva boss and hotel/restaurant owner. Raven is greatly concerned of his action and tell Nicki whose wallet he has swipe! He is sorry for what he has done but it is Raven who takes the wallet back to Yuri penthouse while almost getting caught! The next day Yuri get a picture of the young man who picked his pocket and discovered his sister works for him in his hotel/restaurant.
This story was an exciting suspenseful read. When I thought I had the story figured out, in comes another piece of the puzzle to introduce more danger, more deception, more lies and a very hot and smexy romance with Yuri and elfin like, Raven aka Rebel! From murder, missing child, fake notes, greed, etc.
Really pleased with book one... next Mikial!
4.5 amazing stars
Merged review:
This book gave the origins of how five dominant young boys met and created their own blood brotherhood to protect the ones who could not protect themselves.
This book has so many twists and turns it definitely keeps you on your toes. What do you do when you find out you are not who you thought you were. Raven his skills and her ability to get in and out of right places lead her straight to Yuri. Good book and storyline!
