This chronicle revolves around a bitter ex-assassin who is unwillingly drawn into the crisis and the attempt to stop the re-awakening. What's NICE about this story is that it has a deep, and intricate world, not of Magic, but of Men, Politics and Ambition. This is NOT a Coming of Age tale. The story is multi-layered with emotions and motives that are less heraldric and more Murder/Detective. And woven throughout this well crafted political thriller are the deft touches of an eldritch world that Used to be, before Men gained ascendancy.

A very welcome book in the genre. I loved every page of it.
Where can one start from? A backdrop of clean fantasy land, phrases to be drilled out of their holders, an assassin, a mage.
The descriptions were fitting and I never wanted to put it down. Many years later, it still leaves an impression.
