Dragon Fixation

Rate this book
Pretend to be the mate to a hunk who thinks he’s a dragon shifter? It’s not exactly what Corporal Carla Giannone signed up for when she joined the military, hoping to help protect those who didn’t have a voice. But his muscles and charm say yes, as does the forty-eight hours of leave that she just started. What could go wrong?

Awoken from his slumber and told that he’s to be used as a weapon by the human military, Thorne is growing angry. He should be asked, not told; his power as a dragon must be respected and feared. With his own interests in mind he convinces a gorgeous woman to help him trick those in charge to sending him on his way. Only he never expected it to be more than just a joke…

Ripped away from the unit that had become her family and stuffed into a downtown apartment suite with the so-called dragon shifter, Carla doesn’t know how to act. Especially when he comes to her and says that it wasn’t a joke after all. She really is his mate. Caught between her desire to return to the military and her burgeoning feelings for the dragon, Carla knows there must be a way she can have both. But will she find the answer in time?

For a short time, enjoy several bonus books included as well!

Amelia Jade loves to write the stories of tall, growly shifter men and the women who come to love them. Living out in the back-country near the mountains, she keeps her own alpha male close by, to keep the bears away and keep her warm. In her down time (which is rare), she loves to read science-fiction with a dash of fantasy. You can often find her curled up in front of the real wood-burning fireplace, her nose firmly buried in a book or her favorite ereader. The cold can't bother her there!

For adult readers due to sexual content.
Thorne the Dragon man and Carla are made for each other, they are both broken, damaged in their own way. Their "mating" starts off as a joke so they both get what they want for a few days. Will it always be a joke or did fate play a joke on them.
I like having the Dragon awoken to fight alien. I like that finding a mate gives the men an added boost. This is a great story with an interesting plot and it's well written.
This can be read as a stand alone, but I am glad I start at the beginning with Crimson Dragon book 1. Starting at the beginning let's the reader know the characters better and fully understand what's happening with the Outsiders.

Not for me

This book just wasn’t for me. What I read was well written but I disliked the characters. I feel like it was more just a personal thing as I dislike most military personalities. I don’t want this review to deter others. If you like arguing and lovers who can’t stand each other for beginning of the book then this is for you. I will say it was strange that the male lead was woken up with modern lingo down instead of speaking like someone who was around 200 years ago.

Thorne is a newly awakened Dragon, one of the fierce acid dripping Onyx dragons. He was awoken from a long sleep to be a weapon against alien Outsiders threatening Earth. What does he have to fight for? He has no stake in this war, just let him go and he can go back to sleep. He is ordered to find his mate. Where to start?
Corporal Carla Giannone has the military for her family. She likes the structure and reliability. She likes belonging to her unit the Silver Scythes.
Thorne and Carla meet at a bar and proceed to get drunk, they hatch a half-formed prank to pretend to be mates. There, Thorne’s problem is solved, after a short time they will tell everyone that is was a joke, a simple prank. They must move in together and learn to work together.
It becomes much more than a prank. Each fiercely independent they become to care and respect each other. Then the very real threat of the Outsiders threatens his pretend/real mate. Thorne is made for war and tried to protect Carla. Carla wants to participate, she is a woman of action.
This was a page turner, I enjoyed it. Good and fun characters and a new world threat.

Dragons are real and Carla must face it.

Dragons going into the long sleep where they will eventually turn to stone. Many years later after people have forgotten they where once real , the only Dragon who didn't go into it works with a human and learns how they can wake the dragons up one by one. They have three red and now have woken Thorne a black dragon, who doesn't want to be put back to sleep but also doesn't know if he wants to fight in their war with the outsiders from another world ( which the humans alone can not win but they have found that mates dragons become stronger and protected when fighting the outsiders even able to destroy them.In a get drunk rage he meets Corporal Carla a trained soldier who fights in a body armour group. Now a Coronal Mara catches them and they say that by accident they have found out they are mates. It was a joke to account for their over drinking and for personal reasons to get some time to decide what to do. But is it really a joke or are they fooling themselves. They have a lot of changes to deal with because they joke backfires big time. They think of a way for everyone to get what they want it they can get the military to agree. This is a real good story and I just found out there a many series by this author that I want to read.

Extremely likeable dragon hero and strong heroine.
Loved Thorne and Carla together. Found them both very likeable and quite entertaining together, maybe due to the strange way they met and became a pair.
Carla is no ones pushover and is more than capable of looking out for herself and others. Her strength of character and commitment was lovely.
Thorne was just a sweetie. Giving Carla the time to decide if she wanted to be his mate was great and strengthened their relationship.
His looking after her and supporting her was sweet and coming up with the Dragon Riders was good. Not owned by anyone but themselves.
Thornes powers were different and I loved that he did what he did against the Outsider, without being fully mated to Carla. Felt sorry for him when his past came out after his fight with Corde.
I really enjoyed this book more than I did the Crimson Dragons series. It may be that I am now immune to how horrible the government and army can be to these shifters.
This is my honest review of this book.

Amelia Jade is the Queen of Series and she has started a great new one with Dragon Fixation. The Onyx Dragons series continues where the Crimson Dragons left off, and you can read it without being familiar with the other series, though it would definitely add to your reading enjoyment if you were. Thorne and Carla are a great team and match perfectly on every level. What starts out as a joke rapidly becomes their reality as they realize the bond that fuses them together. Faced with a challenge to their continued happiness, they come up with a brilliant plan that saves the day and will lead to many more great stories.
Once again, Ms. Jade is developing a great shifter world with more engaging characters and edge of your seat thrills. Don’t miss this one. The bonus scenes are the icing on the cake, too!
I received a complimentary copy from the author.

Love the dragons!

There isn't a better subject. When I was little all I wanted was a psychedelic stuffed dragon. My parents searched for months but I got one. These stories are so engrossing and inspiring we all have battles and obstacles we are trying to overcome. Here we can take voyage to another world and get a vicarious thrill through our favorite character's. How very inexpensive these mini vacations are. Except my husband sometimes claims I like my fictional heroes more than him. This is one awesome author. And versatile all these different species and each one written so well as to the different strengths and weaknesses. I am thrilled with the stories. They buoy my spirit and encourage me. I LOVE HEA why read anything else! Thoroughly enjoyed these and am oon to read the next ad infinitum....lol

More of the Outsiders world....

This the first book in the new sub-series of the Outsiders world. In this story Conner and his mate Maddy meet and, after a bit of a rocky start, they fall in luv. But the world doesn't make it easy for them. The Agency is hot in the trail of the shifters of King City, and they must go on the run. There's a mole in the Underground who is making it dangerous to everyone. Who is it? No one knows but when the mole is unmasked will it destroy the only hope of all the innocent shifters of King City? The writing is, as always, excellent, characters fully developed ad very sympathetic and the ongoing storyline picks up where the previous book left off. If you're as fascinated by the addicting series of the Outsiders world, as I am, you don't want to miss this one. Highly recommended

DRAGON FIXATION

Another great start a new series, I loved this book. A captivating storyline, that’s filled with action, intrigue, fun and romance. I loved both characters,Thorne and Carla. They are perfectly matched but each has their own problems to work through. It makes a nice change to have the tables turned slightly, the dragon been the fun, loving one and and the girl the serious one. I love dragon shifters, and this author does a great job writing about them and never lets me down with her storytelling. Another awesome read. Loved the bonus scene. A copy was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book with my honest opinion.

This series is starting off really well. I really enjoyed it. Carla and Thorne just fit together. They were so much alike. Both having a troubled past. Their relationship starts out as just pretending to be together. But then Commander Mara calls their bluff and makes them live together to get to know each other. The military is desperate for the dragons to find their mates so they can be stronger to fight the Outsiders. Carla just wants to be in the forefront of the fight with her team. Thorne just wants to make his mate happy and her to realize they are truly mates.
I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.

In Dragon Fixation we have a newly awakened Dragon who sets out to pretend he has found his mate and is shocked to learn that his fake mate turns out to be his real mate. Now all Thorne has to do is convince Carla that he's serious and to give them a chance. Through a relationship of ups and downs and a battle with an Outsider Carla opens up and lets in Thorne's love. This was a great story and I am looking forward to reading more of this series. I read and reviewed this book as a voluntary ARC.

Awesome book. He is an awakened dragon who they want to fight and he does not want to. He meets his fated mate in a bar and he asks her to pretend to be his mate. Little did they know she really is. They both have baggage to work through. All through trouble coming and intense relations. It is exciting, suspenseful , fun, hot and so much more. Love those dragons. This author's books are always good. I recommend it. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

This was a really good start to a new series. Carla was a strong, fun female lead, and there were a lot of things about Thorne that I liked. Both of them grew on me very quickly, and I really enjoyed watching the two of them interact. The plot was fast paced and kept me hooked until I finished it. I was gifted a copy.

Another one bites the dust. Love these dragons and how Ms. Amelia writes about strong women who are there mates. Definitely a page turner.
⚡Corporal Carla Giannone is human, her unit is the Steel Scythes she been in the military for a long time and loves it. Thorne is a Grumpy Black Dragon who is mad that his long slumber is interrupted so he can fight for the military. Carla goes to a bar and meets Thorne (she knows immediately he's a shifter). Thorne and Carla get smashing drunk and cook up a scheme for her to pretend to be his mate, which back fires on them. Nevertheless everything changes in order to protect his mate, he will kill anyone, especially an Outsider. Don't mess with my Mate.

Working Together

Carla and Thorne are not your typical fated mates. Faking it till they had a plan did not work the way they thought it would.

This was a pleasant surprise due to the direction the author took with the characters lives. Using pain and issues of their past to build up this story made it a much more interesting read

This series is ingenious! The Onyx Dragons continue where the Crimson Dragons ended, melding perfectly. Ms Amelia has perfected the "spin-off" scenario into more of a collection of stories without any issues! Great series!
