Book 2 in the post-apocalyptic After The Vendetta Trilogy. ___________________________________________ TRAVEL THE POST-PURGE ROADS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Despite the odds being stacked against her, Ana has saved her little sister, and now all that remains is to return home. Except she can’t do that just yet, because Wash—the man who helped her every step of the way—is still out there, chasing a grudge that will likely end with him dead. With her sister safe, Ana goes in search of Wash, determined to help him whether he wants it or not. But the road to Wash is filled with clear and hidden dangers, where good and bad guys aren’t so easy to tell apart. A post-Purge world is no place for a man to travel alone, much less a woman. It’s a good thing that Ana is used to being underestimated. But even she will find her resolve tested—and her survival instincts stretched to the max.

Fantastically stress-inducing! What a ride! I swear if I had taken my blood pressure during a couple scenes in this book it would have been through the roof. I'm still a little wound up even now. Tokens was terrific. I wasn't sure what to expect, switching over to Ana's point of view, but I didn't need to worry, she was awesome- so tough and strong. Although there was a time or two when I was questioning her choices, but she was too so there's that. Man, this was so stress-inducing. Just when I thought there might be some smooth sailing coming Ana's way, that she'd finally be on the road again to find Wash, bam, something else happened to ramp the ol' anxiety up. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have the finale, Remains, queued up to start on my drive to work tomorrow.
Amber Lee Connors narration was fantastic! Definitely glad I listened to the book instead of reading- it brought this story to a whole other level! I really enjoyed her perfomance of Ana, as well as the side characters. I see she's not doing the narration for the last book, I wonder why? I hope the female narrator for Remains is up to the challenge, she's got some big shoes to fill! I'm going to have to look into other books she's narrated.
Without a doubt, Sam Sisavath is one of the BEST post-apocalypse writers around. I don't care which series of his I'm reading, they all have one thing in common: strong, interesting characters and good old-fashioned storytelling. This is only the second book in this new series, but I hope there are many, many more. I'm now going to check to see if there is a book #3 out yet and, if so, I'm going to buy it!
I debated giving this 3 stars, because of a continuity error between the first book and second. Plus, it was hard to suspend disbelief in the ending, but I decided not to because the story is fun, exciting and just a little mysterious. I do wish there'd been a better explanation for the Raggedy Men, but there are vampires/ghouls in the story (I knew that going in), so something else creeping out of the darkness (metaphorically) shouldn't be a huge surprise and I like that Sisavath is willing to open up further horrifying possibilities in the storyline. I'm glad I read it, but I'm glad I read it in KU. I will be reading the next book in the series, because I can't wait for Ana's (probably really angry) reunion with Wash.
Couldn’t put this one down. Love the main character,Ana! She’s smart and a badass! But she does put herself right in the middle of trouble every time. There are new monsters in this book. A little diff than the ghouls but just as horrifying! Can’t wait for the next one .
I have devoured the entire Purge and post Purge series in about a month, thanks to having knee surgery. I love the characters and the unpredictability of the story. It's action packed from start to finish. Looking forward to the next book, and surely hope there will be more of the original characters.
Like all the preceding books I again enjoyed this addition to the story. But it did feel a bit like filler. Perhaps it's just me. The writing and the ghouls and the action and the characters are still the top notch, it just was a story that really didn't feel like it belonged. Regardless, I gave it a 5 out of 5 stars. If you're a fan of the Purge storyline, you must read this book too.
I have read Sam since the start. He is by far the best author around today!! Bar none. If you have not read all of the Purge stories you are missing a reader's delight.
It's about time there was a character as daring as Keo in this Purge saga. Kudos that is warrior princess, Ana. Sisavath captures action as good or better than most. I am sad there is only one book left. I will take what I can get.
Really have loved this new character Ana, although I was hoping for an appearance of Washington, there is a book three so still have some hope of seeing him again
I like that this new book has a gal as the lead character. Ana is a cool cucumber. Who are the new guys?! What is going on? Can't wait to read the next book.
I've been following this series from the very beginning and this book was my favorite so far. Ana is badass. I can't express how much I have enjoyed every book.
This series just keeps improving and the characters becoming more and more real! their hopes, fears, and dreams have become reality to me... A "must have " in everyway!
Riding a big Tennessee Walker, Ana is looking to find Wash (short for Washington). She knows he is going to Texas but not where in Texas. But she'll find him. Somehow. Meanwhile, a girl alone, on the road to Texas, trying to avoid trouble, she manages to find trouble anyway, wherever she goes. Or trouble just finds her. But she'll take care of herself. She's good at that.
The storyline and characters are brilliant! Colorful and deeply drawn, as only Sam Sisavath can build them, they flow off the page becoming your best friends and your worst nightmares. The plot thickens! And stretches, and twists like the taffy at a carnival sideshow with the cotton candy in the next booth over. I've fallen in love with Ana, even if she is out of her mind chasing after Wash (the asshat!) All the way to Texas (a big state!). She'll find him though. She has to, even though he left her behind (the asshat!). She'll chase him to the ends of the Earth, and she'll find him. Because she owes him. Because he's her friend. Because he needs her. Even though he left her behind (the asshat!). Because that's what friends do!
After the Walkout, the world has a lot less ghouls, but a lot more trouble of the two legged, non-charcoal lookin' kind. But Ana finds trouble (and friends) everywhere she roams. I think you're going to absolutely love these characters and this storyline as much as I do. In fact, I'm betting on it! Take a squat and read for a while, you'll see. This is a great read!
I have been a fan since The Purge of Babylon and this book didn't disappoint. The story grabbed my attention with the first line and held it to the end. I like Ana and I respect the journey she's on; but oh my goodness does this woman get herself in tight spots! Very good read. Looking forward to the next book.
I was totally enthralled bh the story and the characters that played such an important part of the story. Keep up the great work.im waiting patiently for the next sequel.
