I read the sample first and hoped there wouldn't be unwanted twists and turns. I didn't like Dutch in the previous story and Melody came off as a doormat. I could relate to this part, "My twenties passed with laughter, tears, good times, great sex, and a lot of disappointment." But she was in a toxic relationship and some of it was her doing. "He'd lie about whatever caused our last disagreement, make more promises, and screw up all over again. I knew that, and at some point, I was addicted to the drama."Their relationship wasn't perfect, far from it, but Melody made her own decisions when it came to Dutch. Her love interest, Bruce, stole my heart early on. I loved his reactions to Melody in the diner and at the party. I won't spoil it, but there were sexy heartfelt moments. Later on, something happened that led to a misunderstanding. Bruce apologized!!!
Dutch wasn't sincere at all. I agree with the other reviewer's comment. He should definitely avoid parking lots in the future. It was good to read about Ryan and Fancy, and the characters from the other story. Connections with family and friends tied in nicely. I want to read more about Cody too! My heart went out to him after some petty bullshit happened. I really want Cody to meet someone that will love him, unconditionally, so fingers crossed that the author has it in the works.
HFN, no cliffhanger. five stars.
