It was supposed to be a fun weekend. Filled with booze, laughs, and sexual hijinks...
But there's an evil lurking in the old Phillips house. It's lain dormant for nearly forty years.
It's slimy. It's hairy. And it's hungry.
LYCANIMATOR is the adaptation of the Sebastien Godin film of the same name, produced by Melting Man Films in association with C-Word Productions. Starring Cayt Feinics, Joel D. Wynkoop, Briana Wyman, Kii Hornick, introducing Jonathan E. Smith as 'Jeff', with Dustin Hubbard, Karina Nieves, Alberto Giovannelli, Cathy Wynkoop, B.A. Johnston, with a special appearance by Jeff Strand.
Indy McDaniel does the weird stuff. From the Globally Acknowledged squishy horror of Black Melt to the bone-crunchingly fierce action of the Nadya’s Nights series, there’s no shortage of bizarre nonsense he won’t do. He’s got body horror, he’s got werewolves with tentacles, he’s got killer space fungus, and he’s got some books about those things, too. Commonly described as ‘that weird guy over there’, he’s all too eager to share his assortment of dark silliness with whoever’s interested.
May and her boyfriend, Jeff are spending the weekend at a rental house with their three friends. On the way there, they meet a man who tells them he was the previous caretaker of the Phillips's house - the one they are staying at. He tells them Dr. Phillips created something very dangerous in that house and they need to stay out of the basement no matter what. Of course they brush him off as a crazy drunkard - especially after he tells them Dr. Phillips turned himself in a werewolf... That night when they run out of beer, Jeff is pushed into the basement to go search for more alcohol. While down there, he comes across lab notes and drawings scattered all over, plus Dr. Phillips's diary - all of which seem to corroborate what the old caretaker told them earlier. Then Jeff finds a test tube of glowing green liquid, just as the others come down to check on him. Brian, a member of their group, grabs the tube from Jeff, uncorks it, then forces the liquid down Jeff's throat. After letting Brian know what she thinks of him, May takes Jeff to bed - and it's not long after he starts feeling sick, sweating green liquid and growing very overheated. Before May knows it, he turns into a grotesque half-man, half-wolf abomination - and he's very hungry... Will anyone be able to survive the lycanimator and make it out of the Phillips's house alive? ---------------------------- So I definitely have to see this movie now; I'm excited for that. I liked the book, it was a very quick and easy read. The #1 thing that irked me was when Jeff was force fed the liquid, May just... put him to bed instead of immediately calling poison control or an ambulance and #2 the basement still had all this junk in it even though it was being rented out? 😑 Whatever, anyways it was still good.
HOLY SHIT! This was a fun time all around. It had interesting characters that were larger than life at certain points and a plot that was just a bunch of 80's horror campiness. I found myself unable to put down the book and needed to keep going. I recommend this and am excited to see the movie that it is based on.
