The biography of a well-known doctor in Burma, Narga Thein Hlaing. The doctor was graduated from Yangon Medical College and while he was working in Mandalay hospital, a miracle happened and his life started to change. He was sent to Khamti town in Narga mountains, Chin state, which was the total outskirt of Burma. This book portrayed all the experiences, hardships, joy, friendship and memories he made with honest and pure Narga people on the mountains.
I'm not much a great fan of Burmese fictional biography.I think some events and facts in the book were being potrayed exaggeratedly and these had been conduited a way to personality cult or worshipping.I admire Dr Thein Hlaing for not being an excellent surgeon but for a lone survivor among corrupted bureaucrats in his contemporary.I've read the book while it was gaining popularity around 2018 but never got a chance to finish it.But Nyi Pu Lay's unexpected passed away urged me to try it again.Anyway it aslo includes in the list of "a book must read if you are a doctor in Myanmar".I want to suggest you to read along with "Surgery on Conscious Patients: Ambulatory Surgery in the Bumese Naga Lands. Spoken by Dr Naga Thein Hlaing, written by Gregory Kleiman, edited: Heiko Rudolph" from research gate which is more like a documentary. In loving memory to both of you
