Knight in shining armor? More like alpha-hole of the century.
ISABEL
He's dark, rude, brooding and mean - and he's my new bodyguard. My father Oz is the president of the Death Devils MC. He wants me safe, and out of the way. And unfortunately, Thorn is the man he's chosen for the job.
I don't need a babysitter. I've been taking care of myself for a damn long time now. I don't think sexy, alpha Thorn is too excited about it either. But I'll be damned if I'll make his life any easier. I hate him for abducting me. I hate my father even more for thinking I'm some fragile flower. But what I hate most of all is the way Thorn makes me feel when he says dirty, filthy things to me.
I want to fight him. I need to resist. But the harder I try, the more I realize I can't keep fighting forever.
THORN
She thinks I'm a f*cking asshole. She's not wrong.
Protecting the rival MC president's daughter is definitely not on my g*dd*mn bucket list. When I get stuck with Isabel, I know from the beginning it's going to be a sh*t show. Her own father is keeping her in the dark about how much danger she's in. All she knows is I'm holding her prisoner against her will.
I don't expect Isabel to understand. But my prez makes it crystal clear: I can't mess this up. If anything happens to her - anything at all -- the shaky alliance between our two clubs will fall like a house of cards. It'll be all out war. And it all hangs on me.
Even though I'd f*ck her in a heartbeat, I know I shouldn't. Shouldn't touch her. Shouldn't taste her. Shouldn't bring her to my bed and make her scream out my name until her throat is raw.
But I've never been a man who lives by what I shouldn't do. And it's only a matter of time before I've crossed that line. I'll mark her as mine. I'll protect her -- no matter what. But if I f*ck this up, at least one of us won't make it out alive.
THORN is a full-length, stand-alone novel. It is also the fifth book in the Lords of Carnage MC series. This steamy-as-hell, alpha male romance between a bad boy and the feisty, fiery woman he can't resist ends with a guaranteed HEA, has no cheating and absolutely no cliffhanger.
USA Today bestselling author of alpha males, feisty females, and smoking hot romance.
Small town girl in the big city. Incurable romantic. Hopeless optimist in a realist's body.
Owned by two cats.
A sucker for a bad boy with a soft center.

Thorn was the fifth book of the Lords of Carnage MC series by Daphne Loveling.
Thorn O’Malley was a big Irish brooding member of the MC. He was tasked with playing bodyguard to a rival MC President’s daughter in a safe house. His sole task was to keep Isabele alive. We learn quickly that he was haunted with demons from his childhood in Ireland that impacted him daily, but we didn’t know what the demons were until much later.
Isabelle Mandias was the beautiful, strong, smart and snarky daughter to the Death Devil’s ruthless MC President. She hated being in the dark and wasn’t afraid to take care of herself.
The sparks flew immediately between the two dominant personalities. The relationship building was the typical push and pull dynamic. I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing their progression; however, my favorite part of the storyline was the suspenseful plot. It added dimension to the saga.
I loved the characters and the storyline so I flew through the pages. I would be remiss however, if I didn’t add that I didn’t love the editing errors. There are way too many here, as well as the entire series. If not for that, it would have received a 5 star rating.
In the end, it was a quick and enjoyable read. The series remains as one of my favorites. We still don’t have Angel’s story yet, so hopefully he’s next! Regardless the direction, I’m all in and I can’t wait!
Dear God. Why do I persist in hoping there is ANYTHING redeemable in an MC ”romance”? They are just horrifically awful. Women read these books? Women WRITE these books? *Urs shakes head in disbelief and moves on to a book worth reading.
It was an okay read, I didn't find it too original so I couldn't give it more than 3 stars.. I have never been kidnapped so I don't know what someone in that type of situation does but it seemed to all fall quickly into place. The hero (already forgotten his name) was a wishy washy type of brute who had a humango chip on his shoulder. The heroine, a MC princess just 21 years old hasn't even lived her live yet.. but anyhoo the thing that bugged the shit out of me was that he goes in unprotected, NOONE mentiones birthcontrol the first time around, but then the second she is all like "nut in me, i'm on the pill".
BITCHHHHH you've been kidnapped, the pill has to be taken daily to prevent pregnancy - not when you're released or before you were kidnapped you DING-DONG!
But even after all the unprotected sex, with no PILLS taken, no pregnancy happened.. His swimmers must be old..
If you read my review of Book 4 in this series, you'll know I was less than impressed with the book and very disappointed in the way the author writes women. I persevered for this book as the main female role (Isabel) is the daughter of a rival biker gang and falls for one of the Lords of Carnage members. Finally we should get a true tough-as-nails heroine who doesn't take less than what she is worth from men! Spoiler alert - we don't.
Admittedly, we do get much closer to a strong female lead in this book so I'm grateful for that. Isabel has grown up unafraid of the men in her father's motorcycle club and we see a bit of this showing through in the first few chapters, but similar to previous heroines she defaults to damsel in distress as soon as the male lead is around. I feel like the author had the chance here to write a strong female lead who could really go toe-to-toe with the men - e.g. a heroine vying for the chance to join her father's club, or one who struck out on her own after seeing the misogynistic club her father ran, or even just being physically strong and unafraid of a fight. There were so many strong characterisations to choose from and instead we get the same heroine as the previous books.
The romantic relationship in this book also could have been better. Isabel and Thorn are together in isolation for about a month so we had the means to see their relationship grow, but instead the author has Thorn give Isabel the silent treatment for most of the time they are together. They do have a couple of in-depth conversations which is good, but other than that they just have sex and are moody with each other. I also feel like Thorn was a shell of who he should have been. We've caught glimpses of him in the previous books and he was always joking and up for banter, and that is basically all gone in this book. I get that the isolation thing was a serious thing, but they had lots of time where they weren't in danger where he could have shown his personality more. The whole relationship was lacking humour, intimacy and joy - the same as the relationships in the previous books.
As the main characters were hiding in isolation for most of the book we don't get to see much more of the underlying MC plots, but I do appreciate the different approach for the overall plot. I like the two rival clubs coming together to defeat a joint enemy and I liked taking us away from Tanner Springs to new territory. It added something fresh to an otherwise slightly-stale line of books.
I'm finished or should I say I'm a DNF this book! 67% ladies and gentlemen 67% in and I still don't really understand the plot, I really don't like the characters, which is basically just 2 people! How is this an MC book with two people?!? And the threat, well let's just say up to this point only one thing happens with that and then the rest is... You guessed it about two characters! Two characters holed up in a cabin! Boring!! I tried , I really tried to finish but since I'm wasting days not reading to avoid reading this book, I give up!
Pretty decent read. Characters did not wow me but the writing was very descriptive. That beginning scene where the guy comes out of the bathroom…lololol
2. I do not want the FMC to assert her independence and be "strong" by making dumb decisions that put her life in danger.
Why are these two wants so difficult to fulfill in the romance genre? I've definitely read authors who have done strong female characters well, but WAY too many books have FMCs who make the stupidest decisions because she "isn't going to be told what to do or what's best for her." Inevitably, she gets herself into trouble and has to be saved. Why? I can't figure out if the authors are trying to portray the woman as being capable and independent and it just goes awry or if they are trying to portray women as weak, mindless and don't know what's best for their own safety.
It's not being strong and independent to leave a safe situation just because you don't like that someone else told you that's what you need to do to be safe. It's important to have critical thinking skills. I mean, these women these authors write in these books could literally be getting ready to skydive and refuse to put the parachute on because the MMC told her to for her own safety. She would scream, "no!", and jump out of the plane, falling to the ground at a rapid pace to her death, forcing the MMC to jump after her and do some impossible stunt to save her, land safely wrapped in his arms, courtesy of his skill and parachute and then she would turn around and yell at him for trying to tell her what to do and what was best for her. Why can't we get a FMC who is strong who DOESN'T act like a 12 year old? A FMC who doesn't make idiotic choices that put herself and other people in danger? A FMC can be strong and independent while also accepting help from the MMC and/or others.
With all that being said, the romance in this book isn't developed well and really just comes across as lust. By halfway or more through the book, I wanted the FMC to get kidnapped just so she would quit whining. It made zero sense to me how the MMC and her had to move locations due to someone showing up to try to kidnap her and she STILL whined about wanting to go to town. The MMC even got hurt protecting her ungrateful butt. At that point, I wanted him to let her go to town and get kidnapped. It really is frustrating when characters are so idiotic. But I suppose I shouldn't be surprised since the main characters slept together with zero conversation about STIs and birth control. They were still strangers who had maybe two real conversations at that point. So irresponsible.
Thorn has always been such an appealing and playful character in the previous books of Lords of Carnage MC. With his Irish brogue and protective instincts, Sean O’Malley aka Thorn is one of the favorite brothers all the women flock to.
The prez of Lords of Carnage MC gives Thorn bodyguarding duties for the daughter of the president of a rival MC. There’s hope the two clubs can beneficially merge and this job will seal their partnership if Thorn can successfully protect his daughter from a psychopathic enemy bent on revenge by killing family members of Death Devils MC. That’s the last thing Thorn wants is babysitting a princess of an MC and one who is off limits.
Isabel Mandias has no idea why she’s been kidnapped, and by the brothers in her dad’s club, no less. But it’s for her own good. Club business is never shared with the women and that leaves Isabel in the dark. Until Thorn shares the alarming truth will Isabel take her situation seriously. The sexual tension between them during the weeks together is maddening, but they forge a friendship, sort of. As much as he tries to deny the attraction he can’t resist. And when they do, it’s combustible.
Thorn is a spellbinding read that will suck you up from the beginning until the end. Strong hero and heroine that can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. Ms. Loveling brings us great addition to the Lords of Carnage MC series that is sweet, sexy and suspenseful with a wonderful epilogue. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
****I voluntarily received an Advance Review Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review**** Sean O’Malley “Thorn” is the member of the Lord of Carnage MC. He left Ireland at a young age to avoid his past. His was given the assignment from the president of his club with protecting the rival club, the Death Devils president daughter(Isabel Mandias). Oz Mandias is the president of the Death Devils had a business deal go wrong and led to a threat on his daughter life. Isabel Mandias is the typical college student, who can be impatient with her recent house arrest orders from her father especially since she doesn’t know why. Thorn reluctantly accepted the assignment and she was immediately given to him with resistance from her. The safe house was compromised by a mole in Oz’s group that started the exciting events as they unfolded to protect someone who didn’t wanted to be protected. The confinement was enough to provide sexual tension between Thorn and Iz making things complicated as they remain closed off from society. The author has a unique writing style that draws the reader in and make you forget about everything around you and I loved it. Another great addition to the Lord of Carnage MC series.
I am so in love with these bad boy bikers, this is Thorn's book it can definitely be read as a stand alone but them you are really missing out on getting to know the other guys and their ladies that tamed them. Thorn is giving the job of babysitting, a chick named Isabel, who happens to be the bratty daughter of a rival MC, the Death Devils president OZ. Since they are trying to have an alliance Thorn has to take one for his club, and agrees. Thorn is an absolute Bumhole to poor Isabel who doesn't realize she is in a lot of danger. He is trying to keep her at a distance because he is so freaking drawn to her, she is nothing like he thought she would be. She is making him feel and change, which I loved to see. The babysitting has to end at some point and Isabel and Thorn will go their separate ways, but their attraction and chemistry is to strong to resist. I really liked this story The author has a way of pulling you in and keeping you on your toes. I thought Thorn was the perfect Bumhole and played the part perfectly. Their was a bit of action in this read, but I love that its not the same thing over and over again like I read in other MC series. "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book".
Super sizzling; out of the frying pan and into the fire
Thorn: Lords of Carnage MC, Book 5 by Daphne Loveling is a very well written MC romance with a drool and swoon worthy brooding MC bad boy with a heart of gold beneath his gruff exterior. All he needs is exactly what he thought he never wanted; a sassy spitfire woman to break down his walls. And she tests his resolve! Isabel just wants to live her life and no one will tell her why she has to hide away. Her need to be free results in her captivity. Man do sparks fly with these two! This book is truly stand alone, despite being the fifth in this series. The fast paced plot was highly intriguing with just enough detail, drama and violence for the MC elements to be captivating. However, Thorn and Isabel are enthralling throughout, their forced proximity and incendiary intimacy are really hot, yet also emotionally deep too. I really loved how these two open up to one another and that Isabel finally brings some peace to Thorn. Overall, I’m so glad I gave this author and Thorn’s story a try! These two came together in extraordinary circumstances and then stand the test of danger. Their HEA is full of love and promise.
Just finished reading “Thorn” written by the infamous Miss Daphne Loveling!!! Loved the characters in this story!!!!! Loved the surrounding events that took place creating turmoil for the main characters namely, “Thorn” and “Isabel”. I could just imagine how Thorn was saying her name when he was saying it in another language or with his accent when everything got all hot and steamy!!!!!! I could also imagine just by reading the story how Isabel and Thorn didn’t kill each other out of boredom with no communication other themselves and each other. Isabel didn’t even have that! I think the moodiness of the characters added to the atmosphere of the book. It added to the feeling of loneliness when the characters were trying to get away from the person after Isabel. I couldn’t wait to read to the end to see if Thorn would kill again for Isabel!? Either way Loveling did an awesome job on this story!!! The cover is HOT!! I am giving this 5 stars for the amazing flow, sexy characters and scenes, and the romance when all went to hell!!
When Thorn is enlisted to protect a rival MC Prez's daughter he's anything but happy. The tenuous relationship between the two clubs is at stake. Putting a smart-mouthed woman with a dark, brooding biker makes for a stressful beginning. Isabel feels that she being held hostage and Thorn, well he wants to know what's it's like to have her under him. They are in a secluded location, in a small cottage away from society and internet. Isabel gets restless and she tests every last bit of patience that Thorn has. She won't let up and he won't back down, they're stuck together whether they like it or not. This story was great, I loved the dynamic between Thorn and Isabel. If you love MC books and Daphne's writing this book will keep you glued to your seat. Grab a copy now, you'll thank yourself later!
"Thorn" is one hot Irishman on a bike! Tasked with the job of babysitting another MC president's daughter, you know the pages are going to heat up. He has met his match in Isabel when the two are closed up in a cabin in the woods while he tries to keep her safe. While Thorn works to keep her from harm, Isabel was as much a part of the story without being the poor little girl needing protection. She was a woman that could hold her own and showed it. The story was a hot, steamy, sexy read, with a chemistry between Thorn and Isabel that kept me turning the pages to see how their HEA would play out. I especially enjoyed this one as a large part of the story focused on Thorn and Isabel's lives both past and present. Daphne Loveling's 'Lords of Carnage' series just keeps getting better, and I would like to thank her for gifting me "Thorn". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4.5 Stars!
Enemies to lovers romance. Amazing sexy read. Very well written story with great storyline and plot. The characters are well described and develops nicely. They are likeable and I had a great time reading this story. A story with twists that only makes it better and more captivating. A book with lots of chemistry, passion, hot scenes and emotional ups and downs. Very intertaining and enjoyable read. You almost feel like you are a part of the story so well are the use of words.Instant attraction and insta lust.
It is written in dual POV which gives the reader much more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. The story flows nicely and it is very captivating.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I think I've said this every time, but these books get better with every story! The writing flows well, and the story is a good one. Thorn and Isabel are good together, and their chemistry is great. There was only a few parts where I wanted to shake her, but one of them was understandable. The second one, not so much. She knew her situation, but because she was being a brat, she wanted to do something she knew she shouldn't. It all turned out okay in the end though, and I was glad that she stood up for herself. It was nice reading about the characters from the other books. I'm not sure if there will be any other books from this series, but I hope so! I would love to see Beast get his HEA :) I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I have adoration for author Daphne's writing style it's always fresh and exciting. The Lord's of Carnage series is so exciting to read my toes curled up at certain parts and I held my breath in others. Thorn and Isabel story starts off very rocky you might even say they hated each other seeing how they both are forced to do something against their will. If you have been following this series you definitely won't want to miss this one it's got so much action, danger, and hot alpha sex that can only come from one of the bikers in this series. So sit back and settle in but hold on cause your in for a ride that will leave you hot, breathless and begging for more.
Years ago, Thorn had to protect someone he cared about, but failed. Today, he's being tasked with protecting the daughter of the rival MC's president. If he fails, the "friendship" the two MCs are building will surely be over. Isabel doesn't know about the threat on her life. She's sure her father is paranoid and trying to punish her. Over a month of close contact in seclusion, cause anger and frustration to lead to love and friendship. Isabel is still in danger, and once again Thorn is put in the unwanted position of having to save someone he loves. If he fails, he will pay with his life. He's willing to risk it, because what's a life without Isabel?
This is a amazing, intriguing book to read, that will draw you in from the first page and you will be totally captivated until the last page is turned. What you will find in this book is: a strong feisty woman, a rude grumpy bodyguard, drama, suspense, intrigue, enemies, danger, action, abduction, anger, frustration, paranoia, loneliness, chemistry, lust, love and erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well thought out and is exceptionally well written. The characters are well developed with personalities and have feelings of lust, needs and desires. I would recommend this book to people who like to read a well-written MC romance, I doubt that you would be disappointed in this book.
Thorn by Daphne Loveling is the fifth book in the Lord of Carnage Series. The book is the story of Thorn and Isabel. Isabel is the daughter of Oz is the President of the Death Devils MC. He has been threatened and asked Thorn - a member of a rival MC to guard her. Isabel is not happy. She feels sheltered and unable to live her life because of Thorn and her father Oz. She is quite unhappy. Not that Thorn is too happy. Suddenly he is forced to be a babysitter for someone who has no idea how dangerous the world is and how easily she could be killed. Together, they fight and … don’t.
The story is a fast read with lots of anger and heat. Thorn by Daphne Loveling is a good read.
Absolutely love Thorn, this story has it all humor, danger, sexual tension, broken emotions, darkness, a male lead with the Luck of the Irish and love. The authors two main characters Thorn and Isabel will pull you into their story, you will feel Isabel's frustrations and the battle Thorn has with himself. I don't want to give away the story because you have to read it. Thorn can be read as a standalone but I think you would enjoy it better if you read Ghost, Hawk, Brick and then Gunner. Thorn has a heavy present in all four books and Loveling gives us all sides to Thorn in book five. Happy Reading!!!
I enjoyed reading this story because thorn was a character mentioned in the previous books and I was itching to see more of him. Asked to be bodyguard to a rival clubs daughter he hates the job but agrees to it. Finding out Isabel is a woman he can't resist makes him turn her against him but the list between them wins out. When danger finds them they go on the run until he can bare it no longer and needs to push Isabel away to protect her. The dynamic between them is good a true hate/love confusion going on both sending the wrong signals to protect themselves and each other.
I am so in love with this series, I'm a little late starting but I've read books 1-5 and I want the rest. Thorn and Isabel's story I think might be my favorite so far. Thorn is true to his club and brothers from Lord's of Carnage he set to protect Isabel from an enemy of her father's. I love the way these two argue , their chemistry is off the charts hot! But oh my what a story, it's got danger, and all kinds of stuff you'd expect from an MC. But I love Thorn and Isabel together!! The story is awesome, the characters are ones from previous books, so you get to hear about them again. Love everything about it! Super great book!
Once I started reading I didn’t want to put my kindle down. Thorn has to protect a rival MC Prez daughter Isabel and he’s not too happy about it until he meets Isabel for the first time. There is no denying that they both want each other but Thorn does everything to push her away. Thorn & Isabel are meant for each other and they may have just found their home. There is an enemy wanting Isabel but Thorn will do anything to protect Isabel. Absolutely love this series, every character I absolutely love and hoping there will be more of the Lords of Carnage MC.
Wow! What a pleasure it was to read Thorn and Isabel's story! I was drawn in right from the beginning. Isabel is the daughter of a rival clubs president, she's smart, sassy, sexy and doesn't want a damn babysitter! Thorn is a sexy, dark and brooding biker who doesn't want to get stuck babysitting a "club princess". Thrown together they have to figure out how to work together and while that's happening the sexual tension is off the charts and burns the pages. I loved every bit of this story and can't wait for more of The Lord's of Carnage.
The Lords of Carnage continue! I absolutley love this series and was so excited to read about Thorn, the dirty talking biker from Ireland. This book was filled with danger, kidnapping, pain and some seriously hot encounters. Isabel was the perfect match for him. Loved it! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Hero, Thorn = 5/5 Heroine, Isabel = 5/5 Chemistry = 5/5 Sex = 5/5 Plot = 4/5 Mystery = 3/5 Action = 3/5 Darkness = 3/5 Humor = 2/5 POV = dual Would I recommend this book = yes Would I re-read this book = yes Would I read future books by this author = yes
