Ridiculous!
*May contain minor spoilers...
The conspiracy theories and paranoia are simply ridiculous. And annoying. But mostly ridiculous. It makes no sense. Sure, a group aliens saved you from rapist aliens, risking their lives, fed you and clothed you, so that they can 'experiment' on you? What - you are the best that your species has to offer? The entire 'experimentation by aliens' conspiracy theory is overused cliche tool to introduce misunderstandings and drama. The ridiculous factor amps when they have this conversation while their ship is being attacked by bounty hunters.
I sincerely and earnestly hope - no pray - that when the first alien contact occurs, it is not by idiots that these women were. Because, to them, it makes total sense to worry about being experimented on, while they are getting shot! And to make enemies out of their saviors and show hostility to aliens that you are stuck in a ship with! But I guess I should not judge their hostility towards aliens, considering their hostility towards each other. At least aliens are not the only six survivors.
I like my sci-fi romances. All I want is to have some logic with it. Is it to much to ask for? The characters were so annoying, that I felt like bashing my head against the rock! It is like the author has no imagination. All that crying, weeping, complaining, screeming and whining got on my last nerve. I would like to think that if I or any women I know is ever in a bad situation, I would do better than that. So yeah, basically, all the women are shown in the worst light possible to elevate the heroine! They are simply props to further the plot, instead of characters.
The other illogical thing is the language... thing. It makes absolutely no sense! The aliens don't understand 'geez' and 'buddy', but have no problem knowing what eggs, potatoes, veggies and tortilla? For that matter, weren't the girls talking in alien's language? Then it shouldn't have the human words in their dictionary. It was like the language thing was explained and then, its rationale completely forgotten; only brought out of the closet for convenient misunderstandings and jokes.
Oh, and the romance was superficial and boring. That remids me of another annoying detail - Kate leading on Rennek. Seriously!? There are six of you, but you go to the alien, who you simultaneously suspect and find hot, who you know has hots for you, for comfort? And then, when things escalate, which is again Kate's fault, you make it sound like it is his fault. I felt like punching Kate.
In summary, I would recommend this book to none!
