Life is never dull in the Grimlock world and that's never been more apparent than now, thanks to one household becoming two and four hearts becoming rambunctious.
For Aidan Grimlock, he thought moving in with his boyfriend Jerry would be easy and the extra space would serve as a buffer from Jerry's rather large personality. All of that changes when Jerry insists they visit the local home expo, thus undertaking a humongous decorating project.
Aidan isn't in the mood, which leads to a fight, which leads to Jerry storming out, which ultimately leads to him giving in when his sister calls to report her soul has gone AWOL at - you guessed it - the home expo.
Aidan has to help his sister with her soul-sucking duties, deal with his boyfriend, grapple with rogue reapers and pretend he's totally okay with Jerry's decorating choices.
It's all in a normal day's work for this easygoing reaper … until absolutely everything blows up in his face.
What else is new, though, right?
This is a short story set in the Aisling Grimlock world and told from the point-of-view of her brother. It is set in the past, although only a few months, and can be read at any time.
When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.
Ok a short with two of my favorite characters from the series, Aiden and Jerry...what can go wrong...and throw in some Ainsley and a Angelina show down at a home expo....fun reading ahead.
This book was fun from start to finish. It centres around Aisling, Aiden and Jerry. It's written with aidan' s viewpoint and it's interesting to see his take on things. This short story is set at a home and garden expo where Jerry wants to go to buy furniture and accessories for their place. Aisling is at the same expo working when suddenly the soul she is catching runs off. She calls Aiden for help in catching the soul. Aisling has to capture 2 souls who will be dying within a few hours of each other at the expo. She also has to avoid some rogue reapers who have been spotted at the expo. all this as well as preventing Jerry finding out the real reason why they came to the expo. Fun, laughter and humour is to be had in the roaring saga in the life of the gridlock family. Fabulous!!!
Not one of my favourites. Okay some of the scenes were amusing but on the whole it just left me feeling flat. Jerry and Aisling are coming to terms with their new living conditions and partners. However both want their own way which leads to fights. This results in Jerry going to the Home Expo on his own. Unfortunately Aisling has a reaping job their that goes haywire and calls Aiden in to help. Can they complete the jobs and create peace between the couple's?
Additions to the Grimlock family story line. I had high hopes for this book, and I was disappointed.
Jerry and Aidan are the least developed characters. Again, unfortunately Jerry is written as a stereotypical over the top, self centered flamboyant gay man, and Aidan is pretty much a doormat.
I don’t understand or enjoy this relationship. I read the Asling storyline and her character becomes quite tiresome. Especially the Running food she has with her gramma school arch enemy.
4 Stars... Level headed Aidan, eccentric and slightly dramatic Jerry, and the ever attention seeking Aisling walk into a home expo... What could possibly happen, right??? The scheming begins, the outbursts abound, and one minor death is predicted... All in a days work for the Grimlocks … It was fun to get up close and personal with the Grimlock twins and witness their relationship in action, add in the theatrics of Jerry and a truly entertaining read begins:)
Aidan uses his day off to help Aisling who has lost a soul. To complicate things, there are two rogue reapers and another death to occur in a few hours. Could anything in the Grimlock lives be that simple? No, because it all is taking place at a home expo. Exactly where Jerry has stormed off to. Insert mayhem and antics here with a tad of drama. Good read
I do know how I missed this short story but so glad I came acrossed it. I loved it of course! I love all of Amanda M. Lee's series and her sarcastic females make me laugh out loud. In this Grim family book the story was centered around Jerry and Aidan with Ainsling starring in it. I laugh all the way through this short.
Love love love this series. Funny, entertaining and has great family drama and character interactions. This story is great because it is from one of the main characters brothers perspective. Quick fun read. Please read this, can be a standalone but get others in series.
This is just a little short story of Aisling, Aidan, and Jerry. Nice little adventure and obviously Aisling nemisis has to play a part that was quite funny. However, the question wasn't answered about the rogue reapers. That's driving me nuts, but all in all a decent short read.
This short was a fun addition to the series! I love Aidan and really enjoyed getting his perspective. He and Jerry are always great, so it was nice to get a story focused on them and their relationship. Naturally, there is a lot of Aisling in this story, which is always enjoyable. And no Grimlock tale would be complete without a visit from Angelina, so it fit right in! Looking forward to more!
I really enjoyed this Grimlock tale told from Aiden's perspective. It gives a nice bit of insight as to how Aislings brothers view her, as well as a closer look into Aiden and Jerry's relationship.
This author rocks! I love all of her different series but this is my favorite. The sense of humor is great. I'm happy to dead these short stories but am eager for a new book. Read the series in order for a better understanding of the family. Go Grimlocks!
A Grim short told through Aiden’s eyes. As usual it is full of snark & laughs! This is an adorable crazy story that is appreciated much more if you have some familiarity with the series.
As always a very entertaining series. Great cast of characters with a snarky twist. The author never fails to bring a different perspective of one of the characters in her shorts. I love everything she reads you definitely need to check it out
Great set-up with Aidan narrating. I'd quite happily heard more of the Aidan Aisling dynamic. I found Jerry a bit of a pill in this one, but as always, I loved the Anglica interactions. Her names for Jerry really do grate though. I'd happily see that bit end.
I love Amanda M. Lee and although I'm typically not a fan of shorts, hers are amazing! Absolutely loved seeing Aidan's POV. As always, the author had me laughing and on the edge of my seat. 5 Stars for a quick, sassy and adventurous read!
The Grimlock twins had an interesting day. Aiden had the day off but Aisling had a runaway soul. To help her, he had to go to the expo--which he fought with lover about. They tricked the runaway soul and stopped craft guru from making a huge mess.
This Grimlock short story involves Aidan and Jerry and Aisling. Aisling is loses her charge at the Home Expo that Jerry wants to go to but Aidan doesn’t but she has to call Aidan in for help.
Need a pick-me-up, get this book. Its a laugh out loud work of art. I highly recommend this entertaining short story, and the fascinating series associated with it, to readers who love dramatically humorous mysteries. Enjoy!
I think these are my favorite set of books. The Grimlocks are absolutely related to me. Instead of brothers, I had 3 cousins I grew up with and I was the only girl.
This is about what I consider the least interesting of the Grimlocks; Aiden. His sister appears as a plot device, and frankly the author toned her down so much she seems dull...
