Very bad
This volume gives India an honorable mention at end of the book. Russia is still ranked as a necessary member of the anti-alien alliance, with its shaky military and shakier economy. It seems that none of the three powers in the alliance feel the need to share either knowledge that the aliens exist, the alien plan for conquest or the technology given the U.S.? by its alien allies with the rest of the world's governments and militaries.
The friendly aliens don't offer to identify the invaders hiding in the general population and the U.S. government doesn't think to ask them. The CIA has had an entire station in Italy tried in absentia by Italian courts for kidnapping one of their citizens from the streets of Rome (for being suspected of having some connection to some people who might be linked to terrorists).
The one female military character is still making all the U.S. anti-alien military decisions. The U.S. anti-alien squadron of twenty-four craft together with the same number of Russian and Chinese craft are the entire defense for the entire planet. There are many hundreds of flying saucers. luckily, outnumbered only four or five to one in various encounters the anti-alien squadron repeatedly destroy the opposition forces handily. These scenes would make Tom Cruise blush. The writing of the scenes is just awful as well as silly.
A defense contactor who is part of the collaboration with the invaders can't be tracked, captured or killed by the U.S. government. He can avoid arrest by being in international waters? Homeland Security, NSA, CIA and the FBI (which apparently has offices overseas according to something else I read) suddenly obey the law and also don't shut down the corporation that is aiding the alien takeover. I guess we were supposed to forget about the corporation 's involvement.
There are only a handful of ground troops available to deal with millions of aliens and alien hybrids hiding on the planet. Thirty of the "best of the best" (a really tired line, Cooper) are all it takes to invade the tunnel system that connects the tens of thousands of aliens and hybrids hiding across the globe. They fail. Duh. The Naval Construction Battalions (SeaBees) get an honorable mention. Highly skilled pilots hide captured equipment from superiors and routinely get out of their craft to fight aliens hand to hand. That's not how that works. Besides being dangerously wasteful of the small handful of skilled pilots, keeping advanced weaponry in your locker rather than handing it over for analysis and replication and a couple of courageous pilots being able to stop an assault by hundreds of aliens against a barely defended base (of immense importance to the anti-invasion military) is insane storytelling.
I forced myself to finish the book. It got worse. For all our sakes, I hope this is the end of the series.

OUTSTANDING READ!
I was skeptical to start this type of book as most go to extremes with scientific theory using creative license to create obvious storylines that were not well thought out and so bizarre that it ruins the storyline.
This series was well thought out, well researched and with just the right amount of creative license to be thought provoking, entertaining and makes me wish the author would continue the series, leading us to the future most of us can only dream about.
My wife is an author and I am an author as well as an avid reader and this has been one of the absolutely best series of books I have read.

An engaging end (?) to a wonderful series
At points in this book I was shaking in frustration as characters that I had come to enjoy and care for were placed in situations that I could foresee no way out from.
The story and driving characters are beautifully rendered while a massive supporting cast weave a believable world where aliens attempt to take control and the human spirit is tested over and over.
I highly recommend grabbing a copy now. It does not disappoint.

A decent book, but not what I was expecting from the description. I don't think I'll be reading more in this series, mostly I prefer my scifi books more space centered than this series seems to have, but that's personal preference. I find nothing wrong with the story itself, and I'm sure others will enjoy the story just fine.

Excellent; exciting
I can’t think of other words. An avid sci-fi fan, this one will curl your hair & leave you worried about whether or not we survive. Awesome!

Another great read
I love the first book, the second is just as Good. If not better than the first. I will have to check out his other books.
