A Were’s forbidden desire tests the limits of loyaltyWhen Seattle detective and alpha werewolf Derek Miller meets Riley Price, the bond is instant. Feral. Their connection entails enormous risk, for he must keep the existence of his kind secret at all costs. But the forces of darkness have Riley in their sights. Linda swears that all of her books come loaded with good karma for the readers, for helping to support her writing dreams.
Riley is your normal woman but one night she's nearly attacked only be saved by Derek. A cop but also an Alpha werewolf. He and a few of his friends keep the streets safe but when he saves Riley.... everything changes, there is something about her that he's drawn to.
I'm in love with Derek. He's a great leading man for sure and Riley is perfect for him! This story kept me flipping pages way past my bedtime, the formatting was a little weird but it's an ARC and I'm sure it will be fixed, so no worries there.
Overall, this is a great paranormal romance that has lots of action and steam but also some great character development.
+Thanks to NetGalley for this title in exchange for an honest review.
Welcome back to Seattle, where an alpha wolf who is also a detective has to choose between a woman and the secrets he keeps. Can he do that when vampires have invaded his city, and his pack is the only thing holding them at bay? And when the woman he falls for becomes the bait to lure him into a deal with the fanged hordes?
I wrote this book due to reader requests for me to tell Derek's story. He didn't get the girl in my novel Immortal Redeemed, and readers asked me to give him a worthy potential mate. I'm so glad they suggested this, because Derek is not only a force of nature, but a very sexy and honorable alpha law- enforcer that any woman, of any species, would love to love.
Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy CODE WOLF. Linda
When I discovered there would be another werewolf story from Linda Thomas-Sundstrom before the Nocturne line closes, I was overjoyed as her concept for these beings is one of my all-time favorites. From their unique traits to devotion to their chosen mates, her male werewolves are swoon-worthy and make exceptional heroes. In CODE WOLF, a werewolf and human are strongly drawn to each other, but a relationship between them could have disastrous results. As battles are fought and hearts are on the line, my own feelings became totally involved in discovering whether the couple would ever find happiness.
Since Derek Miller is a cop in Seattle, he watches over the human population. But being a werewolf means he also patrols the streets at night looking for any supernatural creatures that are committing a crime, especially during a full moon. One evening, he comes upon Riley Price being attacked, and he manages to keep her safe without revealing his werewolf side. Though he feels there is something special about the human woman, he knows from past history that a relationship would never work plus his duty must be to his pack because he is the alpha. While circumstances keep forcing Derek and Riley together, secrets could push them apart or pull them closer.
After meeting Derek in a previous book by Linda Thomas-Sundstrom, I am thrilled that he got his own story. And what an outstanding story it is! So many facts are either not known or kept hidden at the beginning, but as things progress, truths come out and are often very surprising. I was absolutely shocked by some of the revelations, as the author definitely came up with some ingenious ideas for the characters and the situations which they had to face. Any scenes dealing with the werewolves or their vampire enemy are creative, and I always had a clear picture of what was occurring because of the author’s skilled writing. Derek and Riley find themselves in one adventure after another, where danger is ever present and what will ultimately end up happening was often unsure.
The relationship Derek has with Riley is filled with complications, ones that I wondered if there was truly a way to work around. As I watched these two individuals experience whatever life threw at them, I marveled at some of their honest responses. While there are been lots of couples written by Linda Thomas-Sundstrom whom I have come to love, Derek and Riley are now tied at the top with Gavin and Skylar. CODE WOLF is imaginative at all times plus has a notable cast of characters.
I voluntarily reviewed the book, and all comments are my honest opinion
Seattle detective and alpha werewolf, Derek Miller loyalty is tested when he meets Riley Price and a feral bond instantly forms, for he must keep the existence of his kind secret at all costs. When the forces of darkness have Riley in their sights, Derek must choose between the Were code of silence and saving the woman who’s ignited his desire.
This werewolf romance sucks readers right into the story with lots of suspense and red hot chemistry. The characters are strong, compelling and easily capture the readers’ attention and while the attraction is instant and sizzles with electricity, the relationship is hampered by the Were code of silence that must be kept. Lots of turbulent emotions flow from the pages including passion, confusion, doubt, surprise, fear, laughter and hope, which really makes the story a well-rounded and balanced romance that is believable.
The fast pace keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of suspense, surprising twists and hidden secrets and life altering revelations. Readers may feel that some there are some events that could have been expanded on to give a more satisfying feeling, for example: why did Riley’s parents hide the truth from her? And did the deal with the vampire queen work? But while these questions are not answered completely (could there be another book in the future?), they are answered and the story is one that readers can really sink their teeth into and enjoy.
The author has created a unique werewolf world with intriguing characters and situations. This one is on the top of my Keeper-Reread list.
Cop by day protector from supernatural enemies by night. Derek fights the bloodthirsty vampires that gather to feed on humans. As their natural enemy and pack alpha, he battles the endless hordes. One such rescue changes things forever. Riley has come to Seattle for independence from her cop father opening her own psychologist office. She didn't know vampires existed. Or werewolves. Could Derek keep at least the latter from her?
Their instant connection is a problem. Pack alpha and a human. Not possible. So why is the pull stronger than anything he's ever felt? The answers to those questions make their battle to keep Riley safe even more of a challenge. Is there some reason the vamps have focused on her? Is it because of his feelings?
Is it the lure of forbidden love? The danger? Or is there something more? Whatever causes their need he's not about to let her go or be harmed. He comes to learn she is stronger than she seems and isn't going to stand back and let the big man save her.
I love the strength of both characters, yet they don't go too far beyond reason. The secrets are discovered in a totally believable time frame. His pack and brothers in blue are loyal and supportive. The enemies are evil with no redeeming characteristics. The story will draw you in and keep you entranced until the very end.
Please note that although this book has characters into from immortal redeemed it can be read on its own. Linda thomas-sundstrom recaps when needed so you don't miss out on any need to know details.
Derek miller is a detective warewolf in settle. The city has been invaded by vampires and his warewolf pack is the only thing holding them at bay.
Riley price hears a howl in the distant, could her mind be playing tricks on her? Unable to stop herself she decides to go and investigate the howling which then leads her to trouble. She never expected a bare chested guardIan angel to save her.
When Derek first meets Riley a psychologist and new to seattle there is an instant bond. He is drawn to her but can't understand why. But will Derek choose to protect the warewolfs and their code of silence or save the woman he desires.
I was so happy when I found out linda thomas-sundstrom was giving Derek his own story. I loved him in immortal redeemed and you feel yourself wishing he could get his happily ever after. This book defiantly didn't disappoint me. I couldn't put it down! I loved the chemistry between Derek and Riley. There was a few oohhh I never saw that coming moments which made me want to read on. I'm a big fan of linda thomas-sundstrom, I love the way she writes bring all the characters to life. I've read quite a few off her books and this is definitely in my top 5. I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a good action packed warewolf romance.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!
The cover is awesome, and it definitely draws the attention of those who love the paranormal and alphas.
I do not believe this is my first time reading Linda’s work, but it must be the first time I’ve reviewed it. I know I own 3 paperbacks and 2 on my kindle, and I plan to add this book to my library as well in the future.
This book started with action and was awesome and exciting throughout the whole book. There was action with battles with vampires and even a bad human. There were secrets and discoveries and mystery and intrigue. I could put the book down. Both the hero and heroine were strong and amazing and not wimpy in any way. I love when characters are strong, but still show they can be vulnerable with each other. I can’t wait to read more by Linda in the future.
I highly recommend to all wolf-shifter fans because this story was awesome!
With so many paranormal fantasy books out today, it's hard to find a new intriguing one with an out-of-the ordinary plot, but Linda Thomas-Sundstrom does it again, giving us a totally different kind of PNR book. Yes, it has werewolves and vampires, but it's also a love story between 2 of the main characters Riley a young woman who is a psychologist and Derek who is a werewolf but who helps out the local law. At first, Derek is out to protect Riley from the vampires that seem to have targeted her. But that's just the beginning of this story. I don't want to give away too much, but check it out for a truly entertaining read, I know you'll enjoy!
I loved Riley and Derek’s story! I have to say it is one of my favorites! I found the book to be so enlightening. I really enjoyed the tie-in with the Immortal Knights series. I believe you can enjoy this story as a standalone but I definitely encourage people to read the entire series. This is a fast-paced, action-packed PNR with a lot of hunky werewolves. I cannot wait for the next book to come out!
It was a particularly feral type of hunger. Got to love those perks, though... HOWLING FANGS & FUR! WHAT A FANGASMIC BOOK & A HALF! With this well written, dynamically engrossing and impossible to put down book, Linda has outdone herself yet again! I love, Love, LOVE it!!! From the very beginning I was caught up in Derek & Riley's story, mesmerized, completely held captive in their deeply enriched story and loving every single spine tingly, drool-worthy, gasp inducing, heartfelt moment of it! Be prepared to be positively blown away by the last quarter or so of the story! Okay, okay, let's be honest here - be prepared to be positively blown away by the ENTIRE BOOK!! There is so much to this story it's almost impossible to break it down & explain coherently (without spoilers) just why you should - why you NEED to read this book! Yes there's all of the "components" that I love in a Linda Thomas-Sundstrom book, like heat, humor, heartbreak, intensity, Werewolves, Vampires, romance, friends, family, mystery, hold your breath moments, awestruck, star struck & downright jaw dropping moments, drool-worthy moments, just to name a few. There is also this need, this drive, this desire to become one with every aspect of the story, to truly become Riley, to become Derek, to live, laugh, love, play, mate, not just with them, but AS them! Yes I have ALWAYS lived Linda's stories with & as the multifaceted characters, but there truly is something MORE with this one that resonates with me, that has me feeling like my secret dreams of there being more to my world just came true!! So YES! This is DEFINITELY a book you NEED TO READ because of everything I have said, but more importantly because of everything I haven't! Linda truly is one phenomenally talented and exceptionally creative author whose captivating & unparalleled storytelling has me not only impatiently waiting for the next book, but thoroughly & immensely loving every book more & more - if that is possible! - every time I read them!
Derek Miller is a Seattle cop with a big secret! By day he is just an average man doing his duty but at night he turns into his true self and stalks the streets to save the humans from the vampires trying to ruin his city! Derek is a werewolf and his duties are to his pack and his city! He needs to keep his secret but while he was on the hunt he meets Riley Price and saves her from being attacked! From the first time these two meet the sparks fly but Derek knows no good will come from a relationship between a human and a werewolf he learned that the hard way. Fate has something else is mind for these two and it seems to be throwing them together at every chance it gets! The battle is never ending but Derek must stay true to his back and the on going battle to keep the human population safe! With danger at every turn will these two follow their hearts or will fate decide an even worse path! This is a definite must read I love this author's nocturne series and I have to say this is one of my favorites! If you haven't read any of this author's books you are missing out on some of the greatest supernatural books that have been written! This was gifted to me for my honest opinion!
Riley is a psychologist and new to the Seattle area. While going home one night she thinks she hears howling so she decides to follow it. But is then attacked and two men come to her rescue. Derek is a werewolf, Alpha of his pack, and a cop. He and a couple of pack mates patrol the streets to keep humans and everyone safe. When he finds Riley, he can smell she’s different but can’t figure out why. Then Riley is put in jeopardy and Derek can’t stay away from her and will protect her with his life. This story got good at the end. The first was so confusing and it didn’t help that the dialogue for the main characters was all together. But if you like werewolves, secrets and action this is for you. ( Hopefully the errors and the run together dialogue will be fixed before published ).
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for Netgalley *
When I am really hungry for a good paranormal I turn to this author knowing she will deliver. Needing also the alpha male in this one to be a strong one she did deliver. Derek is one that had to come out to be followed more. In this one you get behind him and do not let go wanting to know where he will go especially when he encounters more than just what he has been chasing. Being also on the side of the law that helps more than just the norm even though many do not know that one special one will soon find out. Riley will catch his attention along with others but she raised questions for me. The biggest being a why but also knowing the only way to find the answers would be to pay attention to her part also. Plenty of action along with a building heat you will run with this one until you are completely satisfied.
I really loved this book. Already a fan of Linda's werewolves, Code Wolf is another fantastic read in a super lineup of Were stories that are fresh and unique. Detective Derek Miller, alpha of the Seattle pack has troubles all around, with the rising vampire population preying on humans in his district. He's working hard to deal with those vampires. So when Riley Price, a psychologist new to Seattle shows up under the full moon and she and Det Miller meet under unusual circumstances, the whole story takes off with the speed of light.
Did I mention there's is a twist you might not see coming?
Miller was a character in one of Linda's former books, and I was glad to see him here as the star of his own story. Read this. You won't regret it.
When Riley hears what she thinks is a wolves howl in the night she just has to investigate.. What she finds is more than she bargains for. When she meets Seattle police officer Derek Miller sparks fly.. And she discovers she is much more than she thinks. And so is he. Great new read by Linda.. If you like shifter stories this one is for you
From Net Galley Derek and his fellow werewolves pack patrol the night in Seattle protecting human from vampires. But when he saves Riley his wolf imprints on her. But things are about to come out Riley is she wolf with the soul of a vampire. Great book with some twist and turns to regular shifter books. Very enjoyable book.
I enjoy shifter books and I really liked this one so I will be reading the series. Derek Miller is not only Alpha of his pack but also a police detective. He meets Riley Price when she is attacked by a drunk. The story gets exciting from this point on. If you like shifters, then this is a must read for you.
Linda had me wound pretty tight til the end. Riley and Derek make a very strong Alpha Pair. Not knowing what really happened to her mother, Riley was unaware of her heritage. I love how Linda brought her into the Were World. While she exhibited strong female traits, she was a surprise to the entire pack when she emerged.
Derek has been up against the Vampire Queen before, he isn’t about to let her get hold of his mate. The battle between vampires and werewolves comes to a head when the queen wants her soul back.
This was another really interesting werewolf book by Linda Thomas-Sundstrom. The story set up in the first few pages is a bit wordy, but it paints a picture of an intriguing world of supernatural beings in modern day Seattle. I love these urban paranormal romances because of the contrast between modern culture and an ancient, secret type of creature like a werewolf or vampire. The set-up about the vampire queen ruling Seattle really sucked me in.
I really liked the immediate sexual tension between the hero and the heroine—it was intense and you just knew they were fated to be together. The hero’s backstory gave him really good reason not to be with her, and that gave the love story good romanctic conflict.
The middle sagged a bit for me and I’m not entirely sure why, but it didn’t stop me from reading, and the ending is fast-paced and made me stay up late to finish the book.
Thanks to NetGalley for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I found this book a little difficult to get into at first. A little clumsy, a little confusing, but the story drew me in and I rather enjoyed it by the end. There were a number of things that were too vague or convenient for my tastes, but overall a good story.
