A man’s seductive voice emanates from an antique radio, luring women into his murderous embrace…
It’s business as usual for Stefan Korzh as he continues to send haunted antiques onto unsuspecting buyers. Despite going into hiding, his desire to punish the universe for his own misfortune remains unchecked.
Victor Daniels, now more than ever, is focused on grabbing Korzh by the neck and making him feel the full extent of his pain and suffering. But plans change when a suave ghost from the 1940s leaves a trail of dead bodies in his wake. Hank, a sly and charming specter, uses a mahogany-colored radio to reach his victims...lonely, elderly women in nursing homes who find him hard to resist.
Meanwhile, Tom Crane is slowly adjusting to the life of a homeschooled student, spending his days immersed in books from the local library. But brewing underneath his scholarly demeanor is his insatiable thirst for revenge. With Victor occupied, Tom embarks on a dangerous mission to confront the man behind his misery.
The lives of Stefan, Victor, and Tom become more and more intertwined as they continue to play the blood-riddled sport. When old friends – and enemies – reveal themselves, they discover that anything is possible in a game filled with ghosts and vengeance.
Ron Ripley is a husband and father surviving in New England, a place which seems to be getting colder every day. He grew up across from a disturbingly large cemetery where he managed to scare himself every night before going to bed. Mostly because of the red lights that people put in front of the headstones. Those things are just plain creepy to a kid.
Ron enjoys writing horror, military history and driving through the small towns of New England with his family, collecting books and giving impromptu lectures on military history to his family, who enjoy ignoring him during those dreadful times.
Stefan Korzh has gone into hiding and is trying to stay below the radar, but that doesn't stop him from sending out more haunted items! This time it's a radio that is inhabited by Hank. His choice of victims are lonely, elderly ladies. His seductive voice draws them to him and he viciously kills them. But Stefan makes a mistake, and someone is on his tail! Is this the end?
I devoured this edition of the series!! It was more action packed and dare I say, even a little darker than the rest. We almost have 3 separate stories tying this all together. First is Stefan and Bontoc. Bontoc is hired by Ariana and her father to find Stefan and kill him. He eventually tracks Stefan down and sees that he has encased himself in an impenetrable fortress, but to Bontoc it's a mild inconvenience. He is one tough cookie and I can't wait to see more from him!!
Then we have Victor, who is also intent on tracking Stefan down, but before he does, he has to deal with the items Korzh is sending out. His focus is on the radio and he has to call in Shane Ryan to help. I'm always happy to see Shane back and here is no different!! I love that the author crosses over his series. My heart goes out to Victor. He just wants revenge but Stefan keeps sending out things and people are still dying, so he knows his first thing to do, is to stop innocent people from getting hurt, then he can set his sights on taking Stefan down. You can feel the tension is at breaking point with Victor and I'm nervous to see what the author does next!!
Last but not least, we have Tom. Victor has told him to stay safe while he goes and deals with Hank, but Tom gets information and a picture of Stefan and decides to follow a lead. This could just lead to his death because one of the items Victor and Jeremy had dealt with. is back in play and comes into contact with Tom!!
So ya, this book was brilliant! I was on the edge of my seat throughout and felt like my heart would break out of my chest! Each of the books in this series feel like they are leading to an spic and explosive end, and I for one, can't wait to see where the author takes it. I've grown to love these characters and grown to love the world the author has created. This author knows how too give the reader chills and this one chilled me to the bone. Mr Ripley can't write fast enough in my opinion.
Thom Bowers did his best work yet here. If I'm not mistaken, he actually uses a lot more accents in this one! His voice for Ivan Korzh was great and he brought the menacing feeling of the ghosts to life. I felt like he really stepped up his performance here, and it showed!
I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts
This series just keeps getting better and better. Still suffering the after effects of a certain death in the last book but I can see why it happened in the proper blossoming relationship of Tom and Victor but still? 😭. This installment has the appearance of Bontoc. The bonus chapters at the end are about the origins and some early years of Bontoc.
Without Jeremy the story has lost momentum.Characters are floundering to be pulled together. This was a easy read that didn't add much to the overall series.
The saga of Victor Daniels continues in this fourth book of the Haunted Collection series and the series just keeps getting better and better. Victor continues his search for Stefan Korzh but is diverted from the task by the appearance of a suave ghost who lives in an old radio and has a passion for seducing and then killing elderly women. Before Stefan can be found, the radio ghost (Hank) must be stopped before he kills again. Victor enlists the help of Shane Ryan and learns how to stop Hank. Meanwhile Tom Crane nurses his thirst for revenge and becomes entwined with Ariana and Bontoc, who also are seeking Stefan. Ron Ripley has a knack for spinning a haunted tale. He can scare the pants off of the reader with a turn of the phrase like few authors I have read. I look forward to the fifth book in this excellent series.
am so into this series. I love the crossover of the Berkley Street Series characters and the previous Haunted Series characters. You have a well developed, interesting storyline with Victor as the focus. The characters are so well developed and flow well with the storyline. This book is getting more sinister as you have Stefan's vengeance disrupting other peoples lives. You have the radio and the elderly woman now dying. As said previously the book is getting darker as it goes. I was on the edge of my seat many times. Ron Ripley along with Thom Bowers knows how to maintain your interest as they freak you out. I highly recommend this book.
So much has happened! Many people are after Stefan, that I do not know how he continues to have the confidence that he will destroy his mother and father’s legacy. There are many persons, alive and not alive that have a stake in this manhunt. Some I am sure are legitimate but some seem unclear on what their motives include. I love this series and would recommend to those whom like books about possessed items to read this intriguing series. I also like the bonus chapters as they give background stories to the characters in the book.
I found Ron Ripley's work when I subscribed to Kindle Unlimited and was hooked. I've read everything of his that I can. Haunted objects being sold on Ebay being tracked down after they start wreaking havoc. In this case, there are two stories. The first of the ghost inhabiting the radio, killing women at an assisted living facility. The second, the haunted doll possessing a cop. I enjoy a good ghost story and look forward to the next book in the series.
Okay.... I'm liking the new characters in the series, but I miss some of the other characters... I kinda have my fingers crossed that one in particular returns somehow ( Jeremy: maybe as a ghost). I really hope that Nicolas returns soon. It's Tom and Victor and the Madame that keep me reading. It's not the story line. I'm almost burnt out on the chase. They just need to find Stefan already and get him.
I really enjoy these books and the character development. We pick up with Victor And Tom in this one and how they are dealing with Jeremy’s death and there continued search for Korzh. They get split up and things go a little haywire. These are so good and they involve a different vengeful spirit each time. This on also brought back the doll Anne that thing really gives me the bloody creeps. Recommended if you enjoy a good ghost story.
Just love this new series, and I especially love the characters Bontoc and Arianna. Can't wait to read more about everyone and Tom and Victor and all the cool plot twists. I love your books, Mr. Ripley. I feel like I'm right there with all the action! Well done!
This book definitely held my interest. I am enjoying all the characters. I am glad Tom is now a reoccurring character. I also enjoy the introduction of new characters and Victor and Tom adding to their circle. Hank was a creepy addition to the Collection for sure. Can't wait to see what other creepy haunted objects Stefan has sent out.
I love the way characters from other series are woven into this one. The characters are growing, new characters are given a back story. I wish that these books had been one long novel. Waiting for the next book sucks.
I liked this book but am growing weary of the sameness of this series. I never felt that way with the Berkeley (fantastic!) or Moving in series. I never wanted them to end. Hank's Radio is the last in this series for me. The characters were not interesting to me, except maybe Jeremy, who was killed off. Maybe I'm (finally ;-) tired of the genre and it's time to get back to my usual reads -- detectives, mysteries and thrillers (sans ghosts.. ;-) or I just need a break and will check back in a year to see what I missed.
Good story and plenty to keep you reading just a shame Jeremy passed so soon in the series as he was the backbone of the book with the most knowledge ,.Still a great read though keeps you on your toes
An old radio holds a killer - one intent on stalking women before he strangles them to death. As Victor searches for the radio, Tom is still searching for Stefan.
This was a great read, and I enjoyed it very much!
Another excellent book in this series!! The books and stories just keep getting better! I love the characters and the writing! Ready for the next one!!!
Ron Ripley has done it again. Every time I finish a book in this series I think it just can not get better, but it does. I can not wait for the next one.
Brutal but good. I love Tom's character. Such a strong kid. I'm very much enjoying this series even though I can't wait for something bad to happen to Stefan.
Hank's Radio is the perfect fourth book in the Haunted Collection series by Ron Ripley. I am not sure how he does it, but the author just keeps writing this awesome books. This book is one of those that I just couldn't put down, pretty much the entire series is a continues page turner and I read a book a day and just kept going until I was done with the series, then moved onto the next series.
The pace was just right making you read on without realizing that you finished it before you know it. The plots are well developed and read with ease. The author still switches the point of view between the different characters which makes it very easy to follow.
Stefan continues to cause havoc with his items while Victor, Tom and Jeremy try to stop him. Of course it is not as easy as they hope it to be and each case is a challenge and often they have to split up. It also doesn't help that they now also have Victor's grandfather's ghost with them, who has his own agenda that is not always clear while seeming to help them. Life is never easy and only time will tell how this will all play out.
