This is the end, Simon thought. Not if I can help it, I responded.
After thousands of years asleep in the ice, Ryeth the Sapphire Dragon is waking, and it's the touch of one man's mind that draws him from his dreams. But Ryeth's body is still trapped, leaving him powerless to address the issue of his brother, the Black Dragon, who has already threatened Simon's pack.
Simon didn't realize how alone he felt until Ryeth bonded with him, and now he doesn't know how to function without the dragon's voice in his head. But a yearning for more burns in his gut, and he doesn't know what to do about it.
As the threat of the Black Dragon looms ever greater, Simon must find a way to free Ryeth. It's not only his pack and family that is at stake, but the chance of a future with the dragon he has linked his soul to.
Waking His Omega is a 27k word novella featuring a wise-cracking wolf who is learning what responsibility means, the ancient dragon who lives half in his mind, and the rest of the pack as they face their greatest foe. It is the fifth book in the Outcast Chronicles, and it is recommended to read them in order for maximum enjoyment. This book contains mpreg, knotting, and a peeping tom dragon who can't keep his dirty thoughts out of Simon's head.
Obviously I didn't go to bed... stayed up and finished this one even though I shouldn't have... anyway will write my review in the morning after my physical therapy appointment. Off to bed... for real this time! :-)
To my ratings: A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year), it's like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
"I may not believe in the afterlife, but apparently the afterlife believed in me."
Being half a recap book, this one's interesting but not the best, a weird ham and cheese sandwich of comedy. Definitely not bad, but Ryeth being in Simon's head half the book makes for an interesting change from the usual books. Book five proves to be yet another cheesy ride. Many scenes feel like they are meme worthy, and Ryeth eating four plus trays of food after being trapped in ice is yet another hilarious scene, and don't get me started on him transforming his body into an omegas.
Also the writer having characters like Ryeth and Ryan, two Rys, in the same book series is really confusing when speed reading or in my case, having an audiobook. Hopefully Ryeth and Ryan don't share anymore scenes in the future. Those two made for a headache in book four's ending.
This series has been quite the surprise for me! I have not been blown away by any of the stories, but I find myself unable to not finish what I have started... and now we will finally get all the details about Caspar! The wait has been hard!
I must say that the "glitter" was an unexpected joy! Got a few laughs out of that. Remy and Simon didn't really get the page time that I would have liked, but such is life. I think if I had one consistent complaint about this series, it would be the fact that the MCs seem more like a sub-plot, instead of the main plot... grrr
Overall, these have been entertaining reads, and am compelled to move on to Reaching For His Omega!
For a second there, I though this one was going to break the mold, pairing a wolf Alpha with a Dragon but no, why make just this one all masculine pairing when you can make a dragon that can change his biology into an Omega. Aw, shmuck. I guess it was unfair of me to want this series to change, it's very transparent about its target audience (and favourite themes and elements).
This series , let me just say the plot and different drama and action that took place was very, very appealing. I enjoyed this series very much. I wish it was longer but I loved each and every character and pairing and the different powers they all had. Very enjoyable for me
These later books feel like a completely different series than the earlier ones. While the first books were ok, these authors really are hitting their stride with the later ones. I liked that the Ancients have become a part of the story, and hopefully, they will be able to find a solution that imprisonment failed to solve.
Out of all the Outcast Chronicles, this one had most of the action -- although that was few and far between. I don't know, the story arc seemed to be anti-climactic and diluted since the beginning. They had a good idea with this book, but after book three, I felt like the actual plot device of the book was waning.
This is by far my favorite book in the series like I would totally reread this and there aren't many books that I would reread and if this was 1 out of 10 stars (which I wish it was) then it would totally get a 10 from me!!!
Do wish it had the birth scene instead of skipping it tho
This book is about two brothers shifters along with friends turned family and their mate's
What can I say fantastic so thrilling and exciting love the romance but where is Caspir's mate you have five him one to looking forward to the last book .
Wonderful, amazing ,exciting all come to mind for this book ohh and Dragons! This is yet another great book in the outcast series wow loved could not put it down. Can’t wait to read the next book.
Love this series. I would have liked to have seen the pregnancy and birth. I love dragons and was so happy that his mate was a dragon. And there is a unicorn!!!!!
I love this series and Simon's & Ryeth's story is really good. I just wish it was longer instead of it feeling a bit rushed. Other than that, it's definitely a great story.
The authors keep calling the pregnant omega the alpha's baby daddy. Hello a baby daddy is a guy who knocked someone up but didn't stick around to be a dad or support system. That doesn't fit AT ALL!
