"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic…” Arthur C. Clarke

She didn’t mean to use magic

She didn’t even know she HAD magic

She just wanted to save her brother, who was dying in her arms.

Accused of using illegal magic, and sentenced to a cruel death at the hands of the Arcadian Guards, Hannah has no choice but to trust in the aid of a strange old wizard who offers her the gift of unimaginable power.
But power has consequences, and soon Hannah is at the center of a city-wide war to take back the future that was stolen from them. Can she control the power that courses through her? Can she unite a team of heroes from different walks of life? Can she bring justice to Arcadia?

The Rise of Magic is an epic fantasy, set in the far future, where magic and monsters ravage the land of Irth and only the strong survive.

Set on the foundation laid by the Kurtherian Gambit Series, The Rise of Magic tells an entirely new story of the future of our world, and of the heroes and villains who battle for control of its destiny.

Book 1 Restriction:
Restriction is an offshoot of the wildly popular Kutherian Gambit series and the authors did a wonderful job of keeping the theme awareness alive but giving the new series it’s own flare & structure. The story is entertaining, engaging, magical, and tragic. The characters are likable and believable. Book 1 is definitely a “build up book” for more things to come and not all storylines are tied up at the end of this story. The narrator did a great job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene! I’m definitely looking forward to book 2!

Book 2 Reawakening:
Book 2 in the Rise of Magic series takes up where book 1 leaves off. The team gathers resources to plan their next step all while remaining incognito and hidden. I really like this series! The characters are likable and believable. Their strength of morality and street hardness just draws you in! Looking forward to book 3! The narrator did a fantastic job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene!

Book 3 Rebellion:
The story starts where book 2 lets off. The team’s infiltration continues but the enemy is weary and.... There is a torture scene, that thankfully doesn’t go into the majority of the detail it could have. The underdogs are real, likable, and believable. The book nicely adds to the overall story arc. The narrator did a great job!

Book 4 Revolution:
Nice finish with several battles. I really like how the story has concluded. Several threads are wrapped up but the future is still open. Looking forward to the next book! The narrator did a great job!

Restriction: The Rise of Magic, Book 1 my first read/listen from author C.M. Raymond. I love this incredible amazing story, the personality of the characters and the voice inflections of the narrator.
Reawakening: The Rise of Magic, Book 2 my second read/listen from author C.M. Raymond picks up where Book 1 left off. Well developed characters, a story line that grew on you as you continued until you couldn’t wait to read the finish.
Rebellion: The Rise of Magic, Book 3 my third read/listen from author C.M. Raymond picks up where Books 1 & 2 left off. I can’t wait to read book 4 in the series. I’m sure that author C.M. Raymond has more good writing waiting in the wings!
AMAZING! Revolution: Age Of Magic - A Kurtherian Gambit Series (The Rise of Magic Book 4) my fourth read/listen from author C.M. Raymond picks up where Book 3 left off. I love this incredible amazing fantasy. Reminiscent of The Lord of The Rings in scope, the personality of the characters and the voice inflections of the narrator add depth to the listening experience. Well developed characters, a story line that continues to grow on you as you continued until you couldn’t wait to read the finish. A problem with audio books is that you can’t just read faster as the excitement mounts to get to the end faster. I can’t wait to read book 5 in the series. I’m sure that author C.M. Raymond has more good writing waiting in the wings! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

I would have given these books four stars, but...

I enjoy reading fantasy very much, but I cannot tolerate works with a lot of foul language, raunchy humor, etc. . These books contain more than their share. Disappointing that the main character and others had to have stuff like that coming from their mouths continually, and even though she was rapidly progressing in other respects, she wasn’t maturing. It seemed unnecessarily crude, and could have been handled differently, even taking into account her environment and upbringing. So many good authors out there to emulate! I slogged through the first there books, but felt like my brain had been slimed. No more for me!

This set of books by C.M. Raymond were the perfect blend of fantasy mixed with a little post apocalypse and a little romance. The characters were well built, and the story moved along fast enough to keep me reading through not one, but all four books! I almost wish the end had gone on longer, but that's probably just because I wasn't quite ready to be done. My love of the characters almost brought tears to my eyes more than once. There are at least four more in this series, so I have them on my list to buy. I would recommend these to any fantasy lovers.

Epic tale

Five novels in one set, it only works this way. The individual novels, read alone, would be frustrating as they miss a satisfactory story arc but they work well together.
The universe is well crafted, the story intricate and well told and the characters are somewhat believable.
They characters are black or white, the white are super heros who chatter to each other as they kill the poor blacks make mistake after mistake leading to their own downfall. I like a bit more grey in my reading.

they leave the narrative in the mi

This is a great story featuring Hanna. Hanna has become the hunted one. In her time, magic is banned. When she helps her brother who is having a seizure, the town's anti-magic brigade accuses her of using magic. Tolerance is not an option. Hanna goes on the run and meets an old man that says he can help Hanna and her brother.
This is a fast moving story. I loved Hanna who is spunky, brave, and at times, too fearless.
I didn't have a boxed set, just the first book.

when magic isn't magic

Hannah doesn't come from the right side of town, so her magic comes from trickery and slight of hand. but when she accused of having the forbidden talent and her family suffers, Hannah learns there is more to living than what someone else has told you all your life. she sets out to help some friends and becomes a gift to her city.

great fun. loved the characters and really loved the concept behind the magic. eagerly waiting for the next set!!

Love their writing style!!!

I've got to say although I've enjoyed all previous Kurtherian Universe books, these may have been my favorite!!! I love their writing style and how they focus on the characters and environment, rather than just kicking ass! But they do kick some major ass!!! The story flows, where many of the others felt choppy, jumping from scene to scene, leaving me feeling lost sometimes. So, great read . The hardest part of all of this is figuring out the best reading order. Then making yourself stop in one series to read corresponding books in other series. Had every intention of following that when I began this series. Needless to say, I happily failed!!! Love you guys! Keep writing please!!! It's definitely your "thing" 😻
PS
Someone needs to re-edit this. Found lots of problems that would kick me out of the vision I had playing in my head. Most were of the type where there were two different ways of saying something, like an edit had been suggested, but the other words were still there. The other thing was a lot of little words were left out of sentence, ones your mind usually glosses over, unless they're missing, the you stumble. Just FYI in case you ever find time to correct it ;)

Loved these books. I love books that don’t get boring. Some series are pretty good at first but just loose track of themselves. These series of overflowing books make sense in their flow of stories.

Some series tend to loose focus, becoming repetitive. If your a fan of fantasy, as I am, red these books and their authors as the don’t loose their threads, even through overlapping series. I am looking forward to reading more

Good Story

I enjoyed this set of books. Love “Zeke” and his ability to build a team. Dislike the constant and silly use of foul language. Not sure why or what it brings to the story. It seems writers today think that adding foul language adds to the story yet it truly shows a lack of ability to articulate without profanity. Sad as the writers do a good job of the story.

Outstanding!

There wasn't a single paragraph in this series that didn't belong or add to the narrative. Pacing was perfect, character arcs were tight, villains were understandable yet loathsome.
Brilliant.

Great

Four in one, set on Earth (Irth) early in the Age of Magic. Hannah, her mentor, friends, allies and enemies race through assorted problems and fights to a satisfying conclusion of the quartet. There are more books in this series and these characters, so read on......

Good start. They have all the pieces in place. The challenge will be to see if they can avoid the pitfalls of familiarity.

Ok Love This

Wow what an adventure filled with magic and action. Well developed characters, good action and drama, evil villains and heroes, what more can you ask for. The only thing I did not like was some of the repetitive language.

Ordinary characters who do extraordinary things.

I read this before reading the Age of Madness arc or the main Kurtherian Gambit series. This is a good stand alone series with teasers to AoMad and KG events and characters. I enjoyed the annoying banter. The action scenes were bloody but in line with the plot.
For some reason I didn't post a review when I finished this set. I have now read all the main KG, AoMad and off Earth books. I skimed this box set before continuing the Age of Magic arc. I recommend these books.
