Shadow Detective #8

Crimson Circle

Rate this book
Two years ago, my partner and I battled a doomsday cult intent on opening a gateway into Hell.
On the bright side, Skulick and I prevented the end of the world. But the cultists opened a rift to the dark dimension, creating a nexus for supernatural activity, and the Cursed City was born.

Now the Crimson Circle has returned. They have a new leader. A new plan. And the same old appetite to cause mayhem and destruction.

I'm about to go up against my most dangerous enemy--for a second round. But this time I'll have to face the nightmare alone.

Wish me luck.

I'm going to need it.

Another high speed well written battle with (quite literal) inner demons as Raven and Archer fight to find and rescue their boss and mentor.
These shorter books, albeit with ongoing themes, are great, but at the moment the main theme is ongoing, so each book is akin to a long chapter in a much larger book. Yet that helps maintain the draw to wanting to read deeper into the series. Buy and enjoy. I did.

I want more

I wasn't sure if this series and it say in my reading list for a while. I read the first book about 2 weeks ago and read through every one and loved it! Great story I'm invested, Mr. Massa hooked me. Who would have thought I would be cheering for a demon, Hoping for love for a demon hunter, and laughing about possession? I like a good supernatural story and this series has 100% satisfied my spooky side! Hat off to this author great series and believable characters who I feel invested in. Can't wait to go to Hell with Raven!!

An adrenaline-packed read

I like the continuing saga of Raven. This story gave more inward growth to the characters. It is a good for a lunch break.

Quick read

A quick easy read. Just fun. Follow-up to the series of Raven and Skulick's demon hunting adventures. Still trying to get revenge on Atchison Morgal.

Loving this series

Lots of action and heartbreak. Raven looking for his friend and mentor. He has reconnected to Archer. This is a must read!

Crimson Circle is quite the page turner written by William Massa. The author continues to come up with imaginative plots that keep our main character on his toes. This series is definitely one of those that should be read from the first book to begin with, since there is an underlying story present that continues throughout, but each book does have a conclusion, but also a sort of cliff hanger at the end. The plot definitely thickens and you can’t help but wonder where this will lead and how Raven could possibly get out of this situation in one piece and with his friends intact!

It really seems like everything is against Raven and his friends and there is no way they can make it out of there. One must wonder how that will work but you will have to read to find out for yourself. The sad part is there is only one more to go before I am out of books for this series, until the author will release more that is.

Carrying on short handed

With Skulick gone, the battle continues for Raven and his allies. This latest installment carries on the never ending fight between Raven and dark forces. This a solid long novella but requires the reader to be familiar with the characters. Minor annoyance - too many uses of horror, horrific and similar words. With descriptive writing, the reader doesn't also need to be told the actions are horrific, let alone repeating it multiple times in one page. Be warned, this is not a feel good installment but a challenge for the protagonists.

The 8th book of the series is as good as all the previous ones. Crimson Circle's story focuses more on other characters than Mike Raven (the main character) and it gives a new twist to the series. William Massa's formula to Urban Fantasy is really to my liking: quick pace, horror atmosphere, and plenty of occult action. For more details on why the this series is awesome, go read my reviews of the other books.

The 8th installment sees Raven again fighting to save the Cursed City, as the group that nearly destroyed the city return. The Crimson Circle are back and in league with Morgal, trying to finish what they started. Another good book that is setting the stage for the final confrontation with Morgal, will Raven & Cyon get the revenge they desperately want.

The end is nigh

The Crimson Circle has arrived in Cursed City and is intending to take over the world . Hell on earth is Morgal's plan. This story is the crescendo to the end game . Raven , Archer and Cyon will have to join together to hopefully win the war.

Good continuation

William Mazda continues to build the series taking it to the next level each step of the way and creating character depth that will be needed in the coming book. Well done.
