Running Wild

Rate this book
When former Olympian Jordyn Maxwell is selected to participate in the most grueling sled dog race in Alaska, a six-hundred-mile ordeal that puts even the most experienced mushers to the test, she is determined to prove herself and bring home the top prize. But the competition will be fierce.

Though she expected the long, difficult journey across the frozen wilderness to be a lonely affair, Jordyn quickly forms a bond with handsome fellow racer Rudolf Wyatt. But when she puts her safety at risk with her reckless behavior, Jordyn is shocked by Wyatt's willingness to take her over his knee for a humiliating spanking on her bare bottom, and as the race continues she finds herself with blushing cheeks and a burning backside on several more occasions.

Wyatt's bold dominance and stern correction leave Jordyn intensely aroused, and when he takes her in his arms and claims her hard and thoroughly it is unlike anything she has experienced before. But will their passion survive the trials of this harsh land and the scheming of someone who seems intent on keeping either of them from crossing the finish line alive?

Publisher's Running Wild is a stand-alone book which is the second entry in the Alaskan Wild series. It includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

Jaye Elise suffers from a perpetual case of wanderlust, but seems to have settled down - for now - in the Pacific Northwest. She's excited to write the types of books that she loves to read, namely the steamy kind. Although she's at her most comfortable (and wicked) when writing in the Romance and Erotica genres, she also enjoys reading murder mysteries and gripping historical fiction.

Her hobbies include reading tawdry paperbacks in full view of complete strangers, watching James Bond marathons (and skipping the late Roger Moore films), and overdosing on caffeine.

When she's not writing, you can find Jaye hiking with her wonderful husband, traveling all over the globe, or diving into a new book (see above).

The second book in the Alaskan Wild series, but it can be read as a standalone without any problems. This a whole new story with different characters.

I really enjoyed the first book and this book didn't disappoint. Jordyn and Rudolf were great characters. I loved how their relationship evolved and how strong Jordyn was. Something that Rudolf loved about her and encouraged. Rudolf wasn’t as grouchy as his brother, but they did have a lot of the same ideas. And not to mention fireworks went off everything they got together.

I was laughing so hard i almost choked on my wine while reading about their antics and the Dog Sled Racing read like a movie. I was cheering them on.

This is a great read, you won’t regret reading it.

I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an advance review copy

I enjoyed the first book in the series, but I think I liked the second book a little better. I loved Jordyn's physical toughness, she was not a girl you would want to cross. Her ability to take care of herself made her submission to Wyatt a little sweeter. Wyatt was just an all around good guy, dominant, but still compassionate. I loved the dog sled race and the bit of mystery built into it. This is definitely a book worth reading.

Needs polish

OK but sounded as if written by someone very young and some of the phrasing was awkward. I would check out other books to see if any improvement.

This is the second of the authors' books set in Alaska, but other than location and the fact that the MMC is brother to the MMC in Rules of the Wild, there's little connection. Here, Jordyn and Rudy enter a dog-sledding race. While their relationship flourishes, the race itself turns dangerous. Could someone be trying to sabotage them?

This was loads better than the last one since Jordyn isn't a doormat or Rudy a sexist Neanderthal. I enjoyed how much they worked together throughout. In addition, the race added suspense to the narrative, and the descriptions were interesting, detailed without turning into info-dump, and appeared authentic. Finally, I really, really appreciated that, unlike in the first book, this did not feature killing animals.

4 stars. Although this is insta-love, I like books about strong heroines who don't turn into simpering idiots for a man and heroes who don't browbeat women. Between this, the atypical location, and the unusual storyline (for this genre), I recommend this book: it's much less cookie-cutter, has a stronger plot, and is more consensual than most erotica. I also appreciate the decent prose and clean editing. Note: I believe a third book with a third Wyatt sibling was planned, but didn't happen.
