Jill has never been good at taking risks, but she spends one hot night with a sexy stranger, knowing she'll never see him again. Then Lucas shows up the next morning as her new roommate. He was supposed to be a one-night stand, but now he'll be living in the empty room in her shared apartment for the next six months.
Jill needs stability and a long-term relationship, and she knows Lucas can never give her those things. He's looking for a life free of commitments or obligations. She knows he's wrong for her. She shouldn't want him for more than one night.
But she lives with him. He's around all the time--with his sexy smile and his hard body and the soft heart he pretends not to have. Not wanting him isn't really an option.
Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn't stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she teaches English, reads any book she can get her hands on, and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel.
She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.
Light and safe read. It was a bit dragged on in the middle, but overall a pleasant book.
What I liked the most - the heroine spoke her mind, she didn't hide her wishes and didn't change her future plans because of the hero.
He was ok, I understood how his 'bam' changed his life, but I felt sorry for his family - they missed him a lot. The best - the hero was human, he didn't play superman and was a bit vulnerable.
Safe. None of them was with OP after their ONS, though the h tried to date -> atta girl! 😉 H was apparently into casual sex during last 2 years, but no 'colorful' details.
A good read without much manufactured drama. Doormat & alpha-hole were not invited to this story! 😁✌

You got me at rooming with your one-night stand. Literally, I read that synopsis and I knew I had to read this, so I requested and I am so glad I got approved. I really enjoyed this, it blew my expectations away. For a 162 pages novella, this delivered what I get from full fleshed books. I felt all the feels, the hotness, the sweetness, the awkwardness. I got attached to the characters and I was fully invested in what was happening. Oh, and we got a GOOD MAIN GUY WHO IS ALSO HELLA HOT.
The writing was great, addicting and incredibly easy to differentiate the voices of the different main characters. I am so glad we got dual perspective on this, it definitely contributed to the story and made me enjoy the characters more.
The plot and flow of the story were fast yet it didn’t feel rushed, which most of the time happens for such a short book. I loved all the scenes and although the main conflict wasn’t completely dramatic, they felt real and were very well resolved.
The characters were gold. I was so in love with both Jill and Lucas, they are now on my cinnamon-roll list, and for a novella this is surprising. Jill was nerdy and knew what she wanted from relationships, she owned it and I loved her for that. She went out of her comfort zone and was capable to realize that although it was a fun experience it wasn’t something for her. I just loved how mature she was to realize that for her was easy to get attached and she wasn’t gonna fall for the idea she would change a man that didn’t want attachments. Lucas was refreshing and such a hot gentleman. Although I would say I got tired of the constant remark of an “asshole would do that, but because I am not I will not carry on” like I got you are good and different, but it went a bit overboard. I liked how his dark past ends up showing that you don’t need a huge tragedy for something to make you change your view on life. We also got to see the side characters, and I loved them too, so I am hoping future books are from them.
The relationship was angsty but just the right amount. It was lovely and the scenes were either so full of sweet, hot or funny. I just really shipped our main characters together. Consent was awesome and I loved how Lucas always made sure of what Jill wanted, just really great.
In conclusion, this book blew my mind by being such a good novella. For sure is not a complete masterpiece, but it was all I wanted from a romance. Please give this a chance if you are looking for a short, entertaining read. It really deserves more hype.
Jill wants a forever man. When her online date doesn’t show up she decides to try a fun filled night with the handsome stranger she met instead. Now she’s face to face with Lucas the man she thought she’d never see again.
Lucas had a “bam” two years ago and walked away from his life. He now lives day to day, riding the tide, and only stopping for brief times in temporary places. His life goals do not mesh with Jill’s. He does not want a forever but he does want a now.
This couple! OMG! I loved and despaired over them. They were so perfect together and yet they both knew they couldn’t be more. Their chemistry may have sparked their beginning but getting to know each other set fire to their soul deep need.
Lucas was caught in the past, unable to let go and move forward, unable to even share a bit of himself with Jill and that absolutely broke my heart. He was a good guy but he no longer saw himself in that light. Even while Jill struggled between yielding to Lucas and keeping her distance, I saw her as a strong heroine. She wanted the happy ever after and despite knowing that Lucas couldn’t give that to her, she was unable to let him into her heart.
This book had me laughing and crying and my heart being pulled in so many directions. I love when a story pulls me in so much that I ignore everything around me and just fall into it without a second thought. Living With My One Night Stand definitely did that. It was fast paced, well written, pretty steamy and had about a mid level of angst.
I loved every moment, every word, every step these characters took no matter how painful or sweet. Bring on the next, please!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really like this author but this story didn't work for me. There are a lot of things that this book does right. Both Lucas and Jill were great MCs. Both sweet, both wounded, so much chemistry together. But. But. Lucas was a mess. He had issues that he needed to take care of and instead he ran away. He had something happen to him about 2 years ago and ever since then, he left his stable job, his home, his fiance, his family, and became a wanderer taking nothing seriously and refusing all responsibility and relationships. Jill wants a forever man and Lucas can't be that for her. She tries but winds up with a broken heart.
Now, we all know that this book will have a HEA. And it does. But at the end, I felt sceptical about Lucas. Who's to say that if something big happens again in his life that he won't just turn tail and run away again? I didn't buy his big change in the end to the man we all hoped he could be. It felt too sudden and not very organic. I guess I wish he'd taken some time to get some therapy and work out his issues instead of all his problems being solved by the love of a good woman . I didn't trust their HEA and that made me sad.
Loved this one! It was just what i needed, a simple, easy read that was effective. It had those lovely feels, a bit of drama and heat. The hero was an emotional soul, a real beta hero. I liked the situation they found themselves in. Noelle Adams always plays her niche well.
One-night stands are one of my least favourite tropes but count on Noelle Adams to make me enjoy this one! The couple ended up as accidental roommates, which provided context for their continued proximity.
While the Lucas' past was revealed a little too late for my liking, I liked how Jill was patient with him. As with most of Noelle Adam's heroines, Jill was the right amount of likeable, strong and vulnerable.
Rounding this up to 4 stars because of the amazing emotional tension and relationship development! There's just Something about the author's writing that's got me hooked!
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
This book is the first is a spinoff series of the Tea For Two series and this book focuses on Jill who we met in the last Tea For Two book.
Jill is quirky, smart and a little bit of a geek, but she has a big heart. Lucus had a life changing event and has since changed his entire life and has found himself invited to live with a college friend for a while. It is her that he meets Jill and they hit it off.
However one is looking for their forever partner and the other is just looking for the here and now.
In this book we also meet Jill's best friends Michelle and Chloe who i can imagine the next books are going to be for, and they come across and really supportive and lovable.
Jill and Lucas make a good couple and it is only near the end that we find out what sent Lucas on a life changing road.
Really looking forward to reading the next books in the series.
The heroine was ok but I loved the hero... this kind of sweet hero is hard to get in bookland these days! The book was perfectly safe. If you are feeling lazy and want to read something which doesn't tire you much then this book is perfect for the occasion.
Lucas and Jill had a ton of chemistry, they were both mature adults who made rationale decisions, and they were individually interesting enough to keep me engaged.
I loved that Jill knew herself, knew what she wanted and was open and direct in her communication. She was an excellent heroine. Lucas had trauma to move past, and it was done in a way that really made me empathize with him. He was wonderful to Jill and together they made an amazing couple.
Although this was short, I felt like I got everything I was looking for and then some. Can’t wait to read more in this series!

I went into this knowing that the trope of a one night stand to more isn't really my thing. But the book was free and Noelle Adams used to be one of my go to authors. I think her latest formulas aren't working for my particular tastes as well any more.
Noelle Adams became a go to author several years ago for feel good romances without overly drawn out drama or over the top anst. I also liked that she involved emotional connections as that's my must have for a romance. I seem to be in the minority though as most other people crave the physical connection and steam and that has been the direction of her latest books. Not that there isn't an emotional connection but it's been taken over by the physical in my opinion.
This author used to write under two names. Noelle Adams books were sweeter and had maybe one or so explicit scenes (and some even without any scenes or not as explicit). Her other pen name was where she wrote her steamy and more physical based books with many explicit love scenes. Her two styles seem to have merged making her Noelle Adams books include 3 or 4 explicit scenes of some length. This takes away from the emotional development and I'm starting to be left without getting why characters fall in love other than lust. I also get bored with the repeated explicit scenes. One is enough for me and then I'm usually skimming the rest unless there is something important going on.
I also sense a shift in her books towards a much more casual view of sex. I get it, that's what is selling and also the view most people take. I just can't relate to such a casual view. This results in less investment with the characters as well.
I'll still try and pick up some of her books from time to time but these books are not on my auto buy list any more. Hopefully I'll be able to find that books that will still work for me in the future. I think most readers of romance will enjoy the direction her books are taking. It seems many romance readers are craving the physical chemistry and scenes so if that is you, give her books a try.
This was another entertaining read from the author. Jill does something she never does, has a one-night stand with a guy she met in a bar. Not only is he gorgeous, but as they talk she realizes he's witty, funny, and a good conversationalist. In short, everything she wanted in a man. Unfortunately, he isn't interested in marriage, a long term relationship. They part company not even knowing each other's names. So imagine Jill's surprise when he ends up being her new roommate!
Lucas is in town for just six months and is grateful to his friend, Steve, for inviting him to share an apartment with Steve and his girlfriend, Michelle. He doesn't count on an additional roommate in the form of his one-night stand.
Loved the characters and the story. I got teary eyed when Lucas finally told Jill how he got his scar. He and Jill seemed so perfect for one another. Once again another winner from this author.
Adams never shies away from the emotional. Her characters are human. Flawed learning to be fearless. Living with Her One - Night Stand is about need. What started as a chance encounter, becomes a life changing moment for two souls searching. Lucas is learning to live again after an upset in his life. Jill needs her fantasies to help her deal with a sometimes unkind reality. Each is looking for solace and end up finding salvation. Hope is what gives the capacity for love and that's what makes us human. Jill and Lucas will have readers swimming in emotions and loving every lap.
Sometimes people just have a strong attraction to each and that’s exactly what Jill and Lucas had. Although they want different things in life so Jill decides it’s safest to just be friends. This was a sweet romance, it was heart felt and touching finding out what Lucas had went through and waiting to se wig he would open up to Jill or not. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline in this book, and look forward to the next book in this series!
Low angst contemporary romance. First in this series. I'm kind of interested in seeing the premises of the other books. Ok, slightly intrigued? Good book from a good author.

A Noelle Adams book is always good. Some are amazing and some are likable. Living with Her One-Night Stand falls into the likable category for me. This is a spin-off series from the Tea for Two world and the cafe is featured in it. Definitely do not need to have read the earlier series though.
This book didn't set me on fire or wow me. It was a nice book. Jill and Lucas meet while she is waiting for a date who never shows. After taking the plunge to "live a little", Jill has a one night stand with "I'm just floating on the breeze" Lucas. And then the next morning he shows up as the new roommate. Awwwwk-ward!
Lucas has some big, awful thing in his past that keeps him from wanting anything at all to tie him down. Jill wants a forever relationship - the whole husband, 2.5 kids, white picket fence. It's a match not made at all. But, they still can't resist each other. Or well, Jill does her best and Lucas just keeps wanting her.
I really didn't feel the chemistry between them. Friendship, yes. I could see that. But while the text was telling me they were burning up the sheets, I couldn't feel the heat. Too much tell and not enough show, in this case. Plus, I had figured out his "bam" before the reveal. I think it was pretty obvious.
I'm much more invested in friends Michelle and Steve's relationship which served as a counter balance to Jill and Lucas. Those two were either having screaming matches or having sex. There just was no in between. So, I'm hoping theirs will be the next book.
Overall, an enjoyable and quick read with a lot of drama and a lightning quick fix at the end.
A good solid Noelle Adams read. Mention of grabbing water bottles from the fridge: check! Mention of the hero in need of a shave, 5 o'clock shadow going on: check! I'm totally not complaining, but after so many Noelle Adams books, I kind of joke with myself as I start a new book of hers as to how long it will take before I read about the grabbing of a water bottle, lol.
As for this story, it wasn't bad! A new storyline for me, and I think it was done well. The hero definitely had some emotional mess to work thru to be ready for a steady relationship.
The next book is about the other roommates, Steve and Michelle... who are constantly fighting in this book. (I'm gonna pass on that story, I am not a fan of break-up/second chance stories). The third book in this series is Chloe's story... which I accidentally read first. And I loved that one and remains my favorite of this The Loft series.
I really enjoyed this sexy 'one night stand becomes more' romance! Jill and Lucas share a steamy night together when they meet at a bar, but the next morning Lucas turns up on her doorstep as a friend of one of her other roommates, and the new guy moving in! Awkward! They keep the secret of their previous meeting to themselves and pretend not to know each other. At first Jill steers clear of Lucas but realizes that it's silly to do that, and eventually they build an actual friendship.
Lucas clearly has had something traumatic happen to him in the past and prefers to live in the now, and not commit to anything whether it's a job or a relationship. We don't find out exactly what happened until late in the story, but it affects his daily life and his decisions. He and Jill find it hard to resist their chemistry and share more sexy scenes but he's upfront that it can't be more than sex and Jill comes to a point where she tells him it can't continue if there is no chance of a future for them. Lucas has to do some soul searching and face his fears in order for he and Jill to get their happy ending. It's an entertaining and enjoyable romance!
A copy of this story was provided by the author for review.
The writing is sh*t. I think she's trying to go for a dramatic approach but it's not working. Every page is written like this:
"But Jill could have worn a different dress. She definitely should have worn a different dress. A dress that looked less like lingerie. He would have been much happier and more comfortable if she had. It wasn't that her dress exposed an inappropriate amount of skin. It was short..."
They're on different paragraphs so each sentence is its own paragraph and, honestly, I could skip pages and still not miss anything important. I got to 63% and decided it's not worth it; if she had a better editor, these mistakes might've been fixed.
Noelle Adams books are always nice books. I can't put my finger on it but the way I would describe her books - including this one - is safe and comfortable. Like a partner you have been with for a long time and you've just got used to routine.
This one kept me interested but didn't ignite excitement in me. I did want to know what happened to Lucas and I was expecting it to be something completely different.
I have to admit I like the comfortable feeling I get from reading Noelle's books and I am intrigued to read about Steve and Michelle and find out their story.
I rarely ever read short books so to find a short romance that I didn't bail out on before the 20% mark is honestly unheard of. Short romance books often lack character development, a real plot, tend to be cheesy and lack that slow burn and pacing that I love.
This book surprisingly wasn't like that. I liked being wrong about this one.
Jill is on the rebound from a co-dependent relationship focusing on her roots in the small town life with a new job and good friends. She is smart, sexy and tad bit awkward.
Her 'shittay' previous was a real low point for Jill. She really gave that relationship her all. Her unstable all-over-the-place childhood is blame for that.
When the relationship blew up in her face, not all was lost, she found her confidence underneath the rubble. Sometimes it takes a real asshole to show you exactly what you want out of life, and what you don't...yeah you know, you can nod your head.
Jill finds a man on the interwebs and decides to meet up at a place in the small town. It's not ideal situation. She is not confident her internet guy is not a serial killer, or some creeper blob on a couch but it's a start to getting back out on the dating scene.
Enter Lucas. Not a serial killer. Definitely not a creeper blob with his sexy bod.
Lucas is a sexy wander, a smooth talker with all the confidence and master avoider of emotional ties. He is all things mysterious. A real question mark that even had me going, hmm? A man that once had it all literally walked away from everything...but all Lucas did was take his problems on the road with him.
Lucas spots Jill. Jill spots Lucas. Sparks everywhere.
They have a honest and deep conversation about life shit that actually matters without drowning you in sexual expletives. A little conversational foreplay, so to speak. It's fun, it's playful, and informative without being an info-dump, ending with not-so-subtle, 'hey you want to do this.' Check please!
Jill has always been a relationship girl one night stands are not her forte. In the spirit of trying new things, Jill says screw it to the status quo and Lucas is there to help Jill with that. boom chicka wawa. It's playful and the back-and-forth chemistry sizzles.
If you were gonna have a one night stand with someone, you would want a man like Lucas. Not a complete arrogant prick, someone who is actually capable of thinking with his brain and not just the end goal in his pants. Needless to say, I love how Lucas handled the apprehensive Jill.
Safe to say that the one night stand doesn't exactly go down consequence-free. Life brings Jill and Lucas back together and how to move forward isn't exactly in the one night stand rule book. It will be a test of their chemistry to see if they can make one night thing, last forever.
* * * So why not five stars?
For as short as this book was it had a plot and the pacing was legit. As a reader you had enough character details to make the story realistic. There were pleasant secondary characters that added to the plot. The dialogue between Jill and Lucas was meaningful and had real purpose. The author left a question for the reader to answer.
Well played author lady, well played.
Honestly, this short book delivered in those key areas where other longer books I've read have failed. The author handled it beautifully and I was genuinely impressed. This author just became my go-to-short-book person. I never thought I'd say that.
BUT... The sex scenes were decent but a tad short. Full of glorious verbs and description language. However, I felt like there was something missing in that area. It wasn't hot enough or maybe that's my personal preference. It wasn't filthy, it wasn't exactly dirty either but I didn't not like it. It could have been more sexual, especially with such well written characters.
However, when I read these short books that always is a common issue, I want more, more—I'm greedy like that. If you are looking for a short pleasant read, not necessary epic love story, but a fun, full-circle, playful romance check this one out!
- 5 stars, maybe even 6 when you take into account that it was a novella - shit, I wasn’t expecting this to be so good and really do it for me, but it did. I guess I like the tortured man trope who clearly loves, but is emotionally wrecked and can’t commit LOL. Like actually this is making me realize that’s part of what I like with Dramione and Reylo when I used to read it lol. With those it’s like they’re villains and part of it is because of the families they’ve been born into being evil so they think they’re not good enough, but actually this was amazing because Lucas wasn’t awful… he was so good, he just had ptsd from his accident where he literally had to be resuscitated. - I loved that Jill always knew what she wanted and didn’t compromise, and even when they did start having sex again after the one night stand it was completely her idea (and Chloe’s), he had nothing to do with it. - I also loved that Jill was able to realize he was seriously going through shit and was able to hold and be kind to him when he got drunk and then asked her to come home with him. Even though she really didn’t have to, even though he hurt her so bad and couldn’t commit literally that night… but she knew… because he was always decent and fair to her about the arrangement, he stuck to all her rules and never once pestered her or tried to pressure her to change. If it were IRL I’d be like fuck that guy (I really mean don’t) and leave, but here… we know Lucas is suffering, we know he desperately wants Jill but is fucked up from his ptsd. - I actually liked seeing him jealous, too, when she tried to move on and went on dates with Hal. His possessive thoughts… whew. I guess I do like the slightest OM drama when I know it’s going to be so harmless, like the FMC isn’t doing it to be a bitch and hurt him. Jill literally was just trying to move on and forget Lucas since he told her he didn’t do relationships. - they way he showed her his past by driving her around his hometown was cute - I also liked that when he fucked up… he only needed one day to realize he couldn’t let her go. Not even 24 hours… he just needed the shock and a little bit of time to think. - this is definitely tied with Part-Time Lover as my favourite novella, I’m not sure which I liked better. Maybe this one to be honest.. it just hit on so many things that I love lol. This was definitely worth staying up for and reading in one shot. ✅ SO MANY FEELS

Jill is not a one-night stand kind of woman but she throws caution to the wind when she meets a hot guy at a bar…only to discover he’s her new roommate the next day. She and Lucas may have chemistry but he’s not interested in a relationship. As with all Noelle Adams romances, I couldn’t put this down!
However, there was room for improvement. Lucas’s emotional arc didn’t come together for me.
Jill tended toward being insensitive and nosy. She kept asking Lucas about his scar and touching it without permission when it was clear he was not comfortable with either. She seemed much younger than 26 while also talking in old-fashioned ways, like how she wanted a “forever man”. I liked watching things come together for Lucas and Jill and the pages turned easily enough but I’m not sure I believed there was more to this couple than good sex.
Characters: Jill is a 26 year old white software developer. Lucas is a 27 year old white CPA. This is set in in Blacksburg, VA.
Content notes: past trauma , internalized ableism, body scar, capitalism, classism, ageism, past unstable childhood (FMC grew up in RV, moving around with hippie mother), pregnant secondary character, on page sex, alcohol, excessive drinking, inebriation, hangover, gender essentialist language, ableist language mention of FMC never knowing her father
We all have a number of authors that we auto-one-click every new book that comes out, and Noelle Adams is one of mine. I love everything she writes. Living With Her One Night Stand is a stand-a-lone in a new series about three young women who had shared a loft apartment above the Tea For Two cafe.
In attempting to push her own boundaries, Jill does something she’s never done before. She met a sexy stranger and had a one night stand, no names, no attachments, just lots of fun discussions and a great time between the sheets, making sure she’s well and truly home before dawn. She wants to be up bright and early to meet the new room mate who is going to be sharing the loft apartment with her and her friends for six months. You can see where this is going right?
Lucas used to be serious until an incident in his past made him turn his back on everything he thought he wanted – his family, a dependable job, a fiance, and a house. This watershed moment turned him into a cruiser, drifting from place to place, nothing serious and no attachments. He’s just got to town, and waiting to catch up with an old friend with whom he’s going to be sharing space for six months. Out for some air, he sees a gorgeous curvy and tiny blonde who catches his interest unlike ever before, and suddenly he’s keen for a night of unattached sex. She doesn’t do one night stands, but she’ll break her own rules this one time.
Jill and Lucas both have the night of their lives, but that one night is all there is, until Lucas arrives to the apartment where he will be staying for the next six months.
Each time I purchase Noelle Adams latest releases, I know I’m in for a great read, and to date, I’ve not been disappointed. This book combines a sweet story with some hot chemistry between Jill and Lucas. The secondary characters are well developed and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. 4.5 Stars
*I received an ARC of this book free from Barclay Publicity in exchange for an honest review*
Jill is a sweet girl who got done wrong by the man she expected to spend forever with. Now she's out to find her 'forever man'. She wants the man, the house, the family, the roots. What she didn't expect was to get stood up and find herself talking to a hot stranger in a bar. Nor did she expect to find herself in bed with him having the hottest sex she's ever had. And she definitely did not expect to see him in her home the next morning as her new roommate.
Lucas' life changed two years ago and now he's a drifter with no ties to anything or anyone. He likes it that way. He never expected actually developing feelings for the hot little thing he met in a bar, but once he moved in as her roommate and seeing her everyday he couldn't resist. He fought against it, but he never truly was a drifter, he was a forever kind of man too.
Living With Her One-Night Stand brings everyone's worse nightmare into reality. I mean who'd want a one-night stand to show up as their roommate the next day...? Lucky for Jill and Lucas it's exactly what they both needed to happen. Sometimes fate has a strange way of making things work out.
I will always prefer stories told in first person, but sometimes third person can be good too...this is not one of those times. It gives too much nonessential information and at times I'd be like "goodness gracious get on with it already". However, it's not a bad story. I enjoyed the overall situation. I just didn't like the writing style and it made it difficult to fully enjoy.
Living With Her One-Night Stand is the first in a new series. Apparently it is a spin-off of the Tea for Two series, but I didn't feel like I had to have read that one to enjoy this book. It holds up well as a stand alone. Jill decides on a whim to have a one night stand with a guy who seems to be in town for a visit. To her surprise, he ends up being her new roommate, Lucas. Now they have to love with each other and stay away from each other..
For the most part, I liked the story. I have to admit to being a little underwhelmed by the attraction between Lucas and Jill at first. I just didn't feel it. However, I did like that they ended up becoming friends without the sex getting in the way. It made the relationship more believable later on. I loved that Jill knew what she wanted and stuck to her guns when it came to Lucas. In fact, I was cheering Jill on when she told Lucas to finally let her go if he couldn't give her what she wanted. Lucas had a of baggage and stuff to work through before he was ready to be her forever. His "bam" was not what I was expecting, but explained a lot.
I don't know whose story will be next. I'd be interested to see if Michelle and Steve's relationship can be salvaged, but I don't hold out too much hope. This is a quick read and one worth giving a shot.
