Shattered Part 3: The Story of Fatima

Rate this book
Raised in upper-class Black privilege and not accustomed to the word “no” Fatima Antionette Crosby is a dogmatic “tell-it-like-it-is” young business professional who is the unlikely candidate for a happy ending. With a deceased whoremonger father, fragile socialite mother, and broken gay brother, Fatima lives her life in singularity making decisions hap-hazardously with no regard to others. Very decided on how life should be lived, she possesses acute opinions on race, sexuality, and womanhood. Going against the grain of what she defines as Black Love, Fatima becomes engaged to a white, southern Christian, Larry Martin. Through her interactions with Larry, Fatima redefines her views on religion, race, and relationships. Weeks before their wedding, Fatima receives devastating news that shatters her self-image and sense of womanhood. While disconnecting from others, Fatima searches for the only person who can save her life.

Shattered Part 3: The Book of Fatima is a real, raw, laugh out loud, and jaw-dropping page turner with one twist after another from beginning to end. The witty, "tell it like it is" characters keep it real and keep you guessing. As the story unfolds, readers will find themselves deploring a certain character in one instance, and in the next, rooting for exactly the same character!

The author creatively depicts true-to-life experiences that take the reader on an introspective, spiritual journey. Much more than a love story, it is a surprising and unparalleled story of Love.

Shattered Part III: The Story of Fatima is a treat for lovers of cross-genre fiction novels that have both romantic and Christian subplots. I'm amazed at how the author, DD Jewell, managed to balance a bit of erotic romance with a journey of spiritual empowerment while luring the reader into an adventurous ride of twists and turns. In Jewell’s third romp through this exciting multi-part series, we see the return of Fatima, a young successful woman with a flair for drama and strong opinions about race, sex, and class. Fatima is an endearing protagonist, an ambitious businesswoman, defiant daughter and feisty friend who we see face some of life’s biggest challenges. Jewell rises to the challenge of telling a raw and cathartic story of life’s ups and downs with such sensitivity and grace that any reader, at some point, will find themselves identifying with Fatima’s struggles and searching within for answers along with her. DD Jewell handles the landscape of romance, culture, race and the sometimes surreal tragedies of life with great skill in this accomplished, atmospheric and thoughtful novel.

I've been waiting for the 3rd book in this series and the author did not disappoint! From start to finish D.D. Jewell weaves a story full of truth and real life compassion. I love how she takes the characters and breathes life into them, making them as familiar as that close friend you know. Each of her novels tie into the other, whether with a flashback or a character having a poignant interaction with a previous books main character. The books can simply stand as a great read on their own as well. Making relationship with God a center focus is a phenomenal talent. Loved each page and can't wait to read her next!
