In the interest of full disclosure, I am one of the eight poets described in the title, a current resident of San Diego who labors as bookseller, a blog publisher, and who makes the occasional venture into the world as a semi-professional blues harmonica player. That said , and taking myself out of the equation, this is a splendid group of poets, a gathering of distinct styles and perspectives that all snap, crackle and pop with wit, insight, hard-won wisdom, as well as the hope that our language, as we use it , is up to the task of expressing our experience as the clock ticks onward. Sarai Austin, Richard Astle, Peter Dragin,Bonnie Rosecliffe, Paul Dresman, Patti O'Donnell and Paul Dresman and Kate Watson all come from to the craft from varied circumstances and influences, and each has a section that are likely to be as fine a set of poems as you've ever read. This is a rich collection; there isn't a weak page in it.
