5 friends, 1 pact, 1 lie People will do just about anything to protect their secrets and to keep the money flowing. Loyalty like respect is earned not given, unfortunately some have neither. What's more important? Loyalty or Honor? Respect or Money? Blood or Mud? There's a pandemic sweeping the globe called crack and Bryson Daniels is hellbent on introducing it to the streets of Dallas, Texas. He wants in on the ground floor, so he along with four friends that he's known since fourth grade Chuckie, Ronnie, Cutty and Peanut intend to corner a market yet to be made available to the public. True to teenaged angst and naivety, the five friends forge a pact, a blood oath of when they are adults ready to retire from the game, their children will take over their respective roles in the organization that they've built. There's one problem though, Bryson Daniels is the only one of the friends that has a daughter and their sons have made it painfully clear that they'll never take orders from a woman. Is Blood really thicker than water or will Bryson's friends remain loyal? There can only be one king, anything else left on the board was a toy soldier, a mere pawn. Love has a strange way of turning the tables in any given situation, even when you're handed a sure fire win.
I really enjoyed this book Idk if it was because I just knew who the culprit was and was completely wrong or if I still can’t believe who the culprit is. This is what you call double crossed with a twist! I definitely didn’t expect this to turn out like this definitely a page turner
Without a loose end in sight… This action packed page turner takes readers on a well detailed journey of 5 boys who morph into 5 RUTHLESS men. Full of unpredictable twist and some very visual imagery… Blacc Topp masterfully delivers the consequences of betrayal. “Menace To Society”, “New Jack City” and “Belly” on STEROIDS! BRAVO!!! I MOST DEF look forward to reading more of this author’s work!
NOTE: Aside from the textbook format, this is A 5🌟 KILLER READ🙌🏽 1-CLICK NOW!
I felt like I was reliving some parts of this book. In the early 80’s, I dated a Marine from Florida and we would visit there a few weeks out of the year. The first year I visited, I remember seeing mobs of what looked like zombies with black ashen skin and grayish white lips walking aimlessly through the streets of Florida City and the Homestead! I asked a friend what was wrong with them and the response was “they are smoking that stuff! I believe my daddy and sister are on that stuff!” I hadn’t seen “that stuff” in DC so I had no idea what they were talking about. Little did I know that that would be my first glance at what the crack epidemic was going to become. I hadn’t seen anything like this in DC but when it reared it’s ugly head, it came with such a force taking all those who used into a prison that they could not escape from. Highly paid professionals, teachers, lawyers, nurses succumbing to what would become an epidemic with them pawning and selling everything they owned for their next hit! Promising futures lost after taking that one hit off the pipe! Young street soldiers (teenagers) falling in large numbers due to turf battles or stick up kids! Friend betraying friend, family betraying family! The game of loyalty and respect changed during this time where snitches came looking and acting like soldiers until they got pinched and they started singing to save their own skin! Nothing was ever as it appeared! Secrets, lies and treachery were present in those who you thought you could trust with your life, as the love for money now replaced the love of family and friends. I watched so many I grew up with fall victim to the epidemic as their young lives and dreams were snuffed away! The village that many of us grew up in no longer existed as it was now a crime ridden cesspool where those smart enough to stay out of the life and the strong survived. Those of us who had the means moved before the drug crazed took over while those less fortunate stayed and fought the beast head on for survival!
Blacc Topp superbly captured all of that in this book! The family environments were gone as crews moved into neighborhoods to set up shop and take over blocks by force! You saw the weak fall hard and the strong fall even harder! Five young boys Bryson, Peanut, Ronnie Mo, Chucky Black and Cutty James forged a friendship that was closer than any blood brothers whose blood flowed through their veins. Joined together by the need to protect one another, they forged a bond that many would be envious of. If one had, they all had; mess with one and plan on dealing with all. These boys has dreams of making fast money to take them out of poverty to another level. They had a plan but no means of funding the execution of that plan until Bryson the brainchild of the operation calls in a debt that required him to cross a line of no return. Once they had the money needed to fund their operation, the sky appeared to be the limit as money was coming to them faster than their young minds could ever realize, but they would soon find out that fast money does not come without tragedy and consequences!
When their plan goes beyond their expectations and takes them to new heights in their neighborhood, will the bond that these kids grew up with hold them together or will money, power and success become bigger than any one can handle. This novel had me so messed up because everything was not as it seemed! There were double crosses, greed, disloyalty and down right treachery that no one could have not seen coming. Five kids who basically came from nothing ascend to the top, but not without suffering some devastating heartaches and losses. Blacc Topp masterfully threw a twist in this book that I never saw coming! I mean NO ONE would have seen the double cross beyond all double crosses that made you question the very bond that held the friends together! All I could say was wow man, just wow! The book is called “BISHOP by the author Blacc Topp!”
Like I don't even know where to start😫. Bruh you really messed my head up! How TF do a person that is getting double crossed, double cross? I didn't know how Jordan would play out, but the whole time, I knew you did not create him just to be ugly😂. 5 bestfriends + 5 kids (kids of the bestfriends) aint no way I saw that = disaster! 5 friends tired of scrapping to get by made one of them more determined. By any means necessary, Bryson made a decision to get money so him and his homies could take over the drug game. With failing not being an option he came out of the situation on top and on that day the 5 friends made a pact. Growing up, taking over project after project, finding the woman that fits in their lives and who produced their seeds, it was a given that their children would one day take over. BUT! Somewhere, somehow, things totally went wrong and the double crossed, double crossed and met his karma. I'm still messed up. You really don't care about killing your characters, huh bruh? Damn! 5*
The Diva Review 📗 This book takes you back to the beginning of the crack epidemic. The story starts with five friends with a pact and a plan. The author created a tale where the journey of the lives of the friends begins and the drama starts to unfold, with money comes problems. In the story friendship will be questioned, loyalty is tested and deception is high. This book was a definite page turner from the first page with the violence, disloyalty, and triumphs. The author kept me guessing and anticipating what would happen next. The plot and twists pulled you into where it was hard to put down. The ending was the ultimate shocker. Blacc Topp created a story that would make a great movie. Excellent job! DivaReviewer - Nina Divas Read 2
Let me first say that my rating for this book is actually 4.5; there were some issues with design and a few editing errors that led to this rating. The story was solid however. There were so many twists and turns that by the end I sat there looking at the book like I was crazy. After reading this book, one is left to wonder if loyalty exists in real life! I went through a range of emotions with this one and I highly recommend it! Bryson started out as my favorite character but by the end of it, that changed. I loved both King Nut, Asha and Bishop as well. Ronnie Mo, Tarin and Jamal were my least favorite characters. This book will definitely leave you wondering who you can trust!
