See, back in college, Sean met four other guys. All geniuses, crazy prodigies who were going to set the world alight with their brilliance...
They did.

An American ex-pat in London, this chick has no problem with setting these guys' worlds on fire. In the bedroom and out of it.
Only trouble is, Sascha's not like any woman they've ever met.
They can charm her into their life, but can they keep her?

Genre: Erotic Romance
Type: Book 1 of 5 from Quintessence series
POV: Third Person
Rating:

Sean Hayward was successful and wealthy. As a criminologist, his job was bleak and stressful. But he never had to worry about feeling down because he had his four best friends living under one roof to pick him up if he ever needed it.

The five of them were content but something still wasn't enough. They needed not only a housekeeper but also someone who would attend to their sexual needs. Sascha Dubois was the perfect candidate willing to fill both roles. But their long term plan might not necessarily match hers.

When they talked about Gödel’s theorems and Cantor’s diagonalizations, she had no idea what they were talking about, but it got her wet. Seriously wet. Like, disturbingly so.

This was my first reverse harem book and it was definitely interesting. I was wondering about the dynamics between the characters, and they mostly made sense. The sex scenes were hot but I expected more of it considering their situation lol!

Just because he looked like a gorgeous stowaway at the moment, with a disreputable outfit that would do a vagrant proud, didn’t mean he wasn’t loaded and capable of wearing thirty-thousand-dollar watches with old jeans.

I like every single one of the men with their varied personality. My favorite is actually Devon. However, I feel that Sean didn't get enough spotlight especially that this is supposed to be his book.

You must bear in mind, to a lot of people, this is almost like a sex game. They want to do it, check it off the list, and that’s it. It isn’t like that for us.

Charmed by Them is a the first book of a five parts series. It would appeal to readers looking for stories of unconventional relationships.

Everything I wanted in a Reverse Harem series.

The characters are well fleshed out with their own personalities. They are all flawed in beautiful and terrible ways. They struggle. They learn.

It's sexy. It's tantalizing. It's thrilling. It's taboo.

Sascha is sexy and confident. She dresses like a pin-up and works it (a dream of mine). The guys are attentive, focused, smart, but utterly lost occasionally about women. They know what they want but they have been burned before so they are watching Sascha very closely.

It's Daddy Long Legs but sexier. It's five older men with one confident woman who is not afraid or ashamed of her desires. She is no blushing virgin and she owns her sexuality easily.

So yeah. This book is everything I wanted in a reverse harem and more. Looking forward to the next one.

Fun, enjoyable and entertaining

Devon is such a precious cinnamon roll. He kind of reminds me of Castiel :)

"I like watching her. She's interesting."
"How interesting?"
"Poincaré conjecture interesting."

Like i know what that means...

I was.

I was most definitely Charmed by Them.

This was an unexpected delight. It was effervescent and fun, with entirely likable characters and a sweet story. I utterly adored Devon - one of the most interesting, unusual, and adorably sweet love interests I have read in a long long time. Actually, I loved what I saw of all the men, and I hope to learn more. In this first episode, most of them are not yet fully fleshed out. But they show a lot of promise!

The main character, Sascha, is also delightful. Strangely for all the RH's I have read in recent months, she was not abused, wasn't fighting miles of emotional angst to get to happy, she was just intelligent and fun and very self-aware and self-confident. A wonderful surprise!

Actually, all of the characters were outside the norm. It was almost role reversal in some ways - a female MC who was self-confident and strong (without snark or bitchiness or dominance), and knew what she wanted and went after it. Made the first moves. And male love interests who seemed very in touch with their emotions and feelings, were crazy intelligent and interesting, yet didn't appear to surrender their sexy swagger when it came right down to it.

All in all...refreshing!

My one quibble? A hell of a cliffhanger. And I hate cliffies.

But I won't moan too much (not in the good way) about it, since the rest of the series is already published and I am now on to book 2 :)

Well worth the read! Especially if you are experiencing a book hangover or are in the book doldrums as I was. This is a lovely palate cleanser and a good pick-me-up!

Enjoy!

From the beginning, I really wanted to like this story but there are issues in the writing and plot that seem to get in my way. The FMC described in this book, doesn't seem to match the cover of it. Redhead with curvy body, a little on the plus size who likes to play dress-up in vintage clothing and makeup is not what the girl on the front portrays. But the issues I have go much deeper than that.
The plot was weak and could have been worked with more. I didn't get to know three of the guys at all and she sleeps with one of them. There is a lot of telling in this book and backstory which needs to be integrated into the conversations more so it can flow better. The scenes also need a more visual surrounding like in the end, they seem to be walking down the street forever talking. The shopping trip seemed dixsy to me and made me think of the MFC as more playboy than a charmer she seemed earlier own.
But the part I was conflicted with most was the ending. It was to abrupted and not enough information for me to feel a real connection to. It made me think like the author was ready to be done with the story and so she just ended it. Not enough information or detail and it just made me made.
On the flip side, I did very much like the character of Devon and Sean with the MFC. Devon may have some issues but he character was the most real for me and he brought the other two alive more. But that still left three men I know nothing about and in a series like this, I need to know them all.

Sascha Dubois, an American in London with a penchant for retro has recently applied for and been hired to be the house manager to five prestigious men. Geniuses. Nobel Prize winners. Pulitzer Prize winner. Acclaimed, successful, handsome. The outside world may not understand but they are chosen family, they work best as a team and they are looking for the one woman to compliment them all. They have failed in the past, they have been hurt but Sasha is not like the other women.

Charmed By Them is RH at its most basic level. 5 guys, 1 girl. No beating around the bush. It works well because of the characters. Sascha is a quirky American, full of sass, quite a mix. She doesn't scare easy and is immediately taken with the guys. Seth is a renowned Criminologist. He may be the most reserved of the men. he wants the relationship but has natural hesitations. Sawyer and Devon are the mathematicians. Sawyer seems the most difficult to get to know because he stays in Devon's shadow. Devon is the genius among geniuses in the house with an unfiltered, childlike quality to him. Andrei is a quantitative analyst with a traumatic background and Kurt is the brilliant author damaged by his marriage. The concept of a house of geniuses, all consumed with work, sharing an unbreakable love for one another is one I personally love. I find intelligence to be extremely sexy so I find myself jealous of Sasha. I also love that the intention for the relationship was established from the beginning yet the men all took time to get to know Sascha. There was no immediate 'playtime' much to Sascha's frustration. Taking the time to get to know each other has strengthened the story for me. It ends with a terrible event but luckily book 2 is already loaded on my Kindle waiting for me to continue right away!

Apparently I have been living under a rock and never knew what a reverse harem book .. or even a harem book was a thing. I embarked on reading a harem book this year and this wonderful author was like…but what if they were all men… And so I cleared my reading schedule and embarked on a lusty little affair
Sascha is a housecleaner/homemaker and applies for a job with an agency in London and responds to an advert to live in house for 5 men and care for their needs almost like a wife. This book takes us into their lives. At points I as the reader actually felt I was Sascha. I loved her sass and realness. I loved that the sex scene felt like it fit right in the book. Now this will leave the readers panting with need because there is so much sexual tension in that house!!!

The author has each part of the series realizing every few weeks so you can gorge on them… because book 1 ends in a cliffhanger that will have you steaming in anger haha

I'm not an erotic fan but this was recommended, and fit challenges I'm doing on GR. It's not badly written for it's kind but since it's this genre, there's little story, it's awkward and rushed, and too emphasizing too quickly to hold my interest.

Notes:

I like the characters and the dynamics between the six.

I am peeved by weird details like a housekeeper working in stiletto heels. I adore heels/stilettos and I would not go around working in them. There are other inconsistencies but I'm ignoring them for now.

5 Brainiacs smitten with their 50's styled new housekeeper and all want a taste. Can Sascha be the boned glue that will permanently keep them together forever?

Charmed by Them by Serena Akeroyd was cute, surprisingly well written and super sexy. Encompassing & captivated every part of me while I read. When the ending approached, the last wordage was written... mouth hanging open and I cried out for more... Yes, that's right Serena, I cursed you out loud! LOL. I am hanging on by a thread for the Healed by Them!

I can tell that Serena has a great series upon her hands with these devishly handsome, intelligent, sexy men who will bend backwards for Sascha in all things. In return, I have a strong feeling she will pull out emotions and feelings within each of these men and I can't wait to encompass it all.

Side Note: I am not a fan of these covers. Please don't let these covers deter you from reading these books.

Spoilers below. for book 1 to 5

this book was just mehhh.
Sasha was a nice characters and I liked how much the guys acted with her and respected her.
But these books just moved sooooooo slowly. I get it was a weekly serial series, but still.
Also I feel like Sasha took to the whole 5 guys thing wayyyyyyy to quickly, especially for a contemp rh.

There wasn't enough action in regards to her safety. She gets hit by a car then she discovers or the guys discover that someone planned to kill her. then she discovers her parents were actually her adoptive parents and her real dad was part of a very rich family who was trying to knock her off so she doesnt get the family money. in the end she stays with the guys and gets preggars.

When it comes to contempory RH those are very very tricky. Because RH books seem to work better when they are non contempory based. I just felt there needed to be more action in this whole series. like if she was kidnapped and the guys had to find her? somehting else.

IDK I just was not in love with this book.

The first book is good.

Sasha has sass and knows what she wants.
Book 2 to 5 drags worse than a legless dog.
From book 2 its as if another author took over. Let me tell you, its horrible. For most of book 2, 3 and 4 Sasha deals with injuries from being run over, so not much happens.
Book 4 takes a turn where she learns she is the heirress of billions.

Random... right?

No.
Just
NO

Read book 1, like it. But i would advise you not to bother with the rest.

Wow.. this totally did it for me. At this point I’m a shameless RH addict, and honestly most of them are just mediocre at best. I have probably read over 40 at this point, but this is only my 2nd 5 star RH read, and the first 1st in a series I have given the honor. Is it perfect? No. Did I enjoy everything about this little short? Yup.

A sexy 27-year-old responds to a position as a housekeeper for five geniuses. This book is the most pornographic (and I DO mean graphic) of anything I believe I have ever read. It is the first of a series, and even though it ends on a cliffhanger, I am not interested in reading anything else by this author.

gonna be honest, I was slightly confused because of the third person and how the author used accents and professions to specify who was talking when you didn't have everyone's accents and professions memorized yet. I love the mc though so it made up for it. also the harem is this book is new and fresh and I really like it so far

- Heroine: Sascha
- Harem: Sean, Sawyer, Kurt, Andrei, Devon
- POVs Included: Multiple POVs (Sascha, Sean)
- Book Playlist (Reverse Harem Romance Playlist)

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Sascha starts a new job in a big mansion as a housekeeper/cook. But what she doesn’t realize is that the five men who live there want more from her than her employment — they want her to share as their own.

The more she gets to know them, the more she finds herself wanting that too.

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
REVIEW:

This was great! It might come across cheesy to some, I think. Some of their interactions are a little bit unrealistic. Sascha is a little more adaptable to the whole situation than I think is realistic. But I do think it manages to set the stage for the RH.

That being said, I still really loved this. The thing I love the most is that the RH dynamic is exactly my favorite type of RH setup: the guys are all very close (bromance) and are LOOKING for a woman to share. They want to share a woman and have in the past. This is my favorite setup because there is virtually no jealousy and there is so much more of a bond between the guys.

I also like that there’s a very open line of communication between them and Sascha, as well as each other. Everything is laid out there and no secrets between them. Loved this.

It leaves off with a cliffhanger when Sascha gets hit by a car. So I’ll definitely be reading the next one right away. But cliffhanger or no, I would still read on. Loving this series so far!

I read the entire series, so I’m just going to review the whole series here. I loved this concept. I loved the characters and I loved the heroine. However, this absolutely should NOT have been a 5 book series. I know, I know. That’s how writers make money. But you need to ask yourself is it worth the money to sacrifice the art of the novel? Because that’s what this should have been. One full length novel. A lot of time was spent summarizing what would have been unnecessary in one novel. If I got one more character description of the math savant I think I would have lost it. I got it. He’s brilliant. Check. No filter. Check. Everyone shelters him. Check. Now let’s move on and never talk about again. But noooooooo. Every time his name is mentioned we have to suffer through at least a paragraph about how wonderfully awesome and clueless he is.
That being said. I did really like the books. Really. I’d love to read more. I’d love to read about the Scot chasing a toddler.

Serena Akeroyd’s Charmed By Them has a plot twist I did not see coming at the end of the book. It calmly explains complex dynamics, ideas, and relationships while addressing some concerns of people who may not initially read reverse harem. Like why five men and one woman would enter a singular relationship where no one is being fooled. It has reasonable character development. It was relationship-based ex: It did not jump directly into sex/bodice ripping but rather kept the flow going while explaining what was happening and developing the inner and outer working of the characters. It also established the characters natural attractions, quirks and habits in a believable manner. It was a mostly clean read with a bedroom scene that while detailed did not make me uncomfortable and treated me like an adult. I was able to read this easily in one sitting. Though I do not consider reverse harem to be the main meat of what I actually read I enjoyed this book. I would read more by this author.

I really enjoyed this but well yeah I enjoyed the book I've read books from is author before and was always intrigued by her talent to write a good story line I loved all the characters in this book especially Devon he is remarkable and intelligent but almost kid like he was just a lot of fun I thought Sasha is a house keeper for five males all of them with distinct different personalities and she seems to fit just right on in like an old shoe.

In the story you have full personalities and a decent length, varying emotions you have mistrust you have need you can you can just feel the need not just from Sasha but from each of the Mills it didn't make them we could just make them human you're going to love the story it was well written a great start to a new series not going to say much else pick it up read it I voluntarily read reviewed this book I enjoyed it.

This book was enthralling. It's significantly harder, IMO, to write a good contemporary reverse harem than it is to write one set in another world or with supernatural elements. Though this book (and the rest in the series) were quick reads, and it does end with a cliff hanger, the fact that the series is complete and has many books in it makes it feel more like one continuous story. The characters feel fleshed out and real, with each man having his own issues and personality that is distinct enough for me to be able to tell who is speaking by their tones. All in all, this was a great read that I definitely recommend to my fellow RH lovers. and, if this is your first foray into the world of reverse harem romances, then this is a great starting point. It makes you realize that the concept is not weird and gross, but really works in certain situations in the real world.

‘They were more than friends; they were family by choice.’

Here are the six characters that make-up this RH:
•Sascha Dubois (age 27) “She’s witty, charming, warm-hearted, and beautiful.”
•Sean Hayward (age 43) Eminent criminologist, Adored by the media. He was the unelected ‘head’ of the household since he could rationalize everything.
•Kurt Yeller, Writer and won Pulitzer. German. Cooks.
•Andrei Kirov, Economist. Russian. Bakes.
•Sawyer Bennett, mathematician who won a Noble Prize. Scottish.
•Devon Jerome. Mathematician won Noble Prize w Sawyer. Retained an air of innocence. This generations Einstein.

A highly intelligent and quirky group of men who may have finally found their true mate.
‘Sascha wanted to merge into their world. Not alter it.’

I’m intrigued for now. Writing style doesn’t list who the POV is so takes a few lines to figure out.
