Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.

My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.

I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.

I'm extremely addicted to caffeine and enjoy drinking coffee and lattes.

Ariah, Mer, and Owen are back and heading to the kingdom of Agrolon to meet with King Percy. On their way to the meet with the King, they cross paths with her brother Logan. A reunion is in short order, but not without its problems. While Logan is happy to see his sister, he’s not prepared for the changes that have come from the year that she has been gone. Ariah knows that time is of the essence, and that a war is coming. A lot is coming their way, and quite a bit of it they are not prepared for. While she has spent her time in Noslon with her new family and friends, the world around them has continued to die. The time for war is at hand, but it will be coming from more than one place. Ariah will be reunited with her family, and be able to experience some of the changes that have been happening. Ariah and all who love her must come together if they are to win the upcoming battles.
Reigning Ascent by Jen L. Grey is the third and final book in her Pearson Prophecy series. In this book, everything comes together as Ariah is reunited with her family and friends who believed her to be dead for a year. Ariah will fight to have those around her understand that she is not the girl that she was before. Since I began reading this series from the beginning I enjoyed it. I liked that despite what all Ariah was put through that she persevered. This book has quite a few engaging moments. The author grips you from the beginning and keeps you engaged from start to finish. The story is riveting as Ariah returns to the place where she suffered so much abuse. She’s determined to prove that she’s stronger now, but at the same time, we see that she’s still immature. I like how her brother tries so hard to protect her. He knows that pain that she suffered with before her “death” and only wants to protect her from that. I like the twists and surprises that the author writes into the story. I’d like to say that there are some hints to these surprises, but honestly…the author does a fantastic job keeping these surprises under wraps until the right moment. I’m glad that Emerson gets to be more of a character in this book as well. In the previous books, she’s been more of a glancing character that we know is around, but she’s more in this book. It’s nice to see the family come together and begin the healing process that they so desperately need.
While I enjoyed this book from start to finish overall, I do have some issues with it. Mainly, I just couldn’t stand 1) the bad attitudes all the time and 2) the double standards. When Aria meets her brother again after a year, she comes off as intolerant towards him. This bugs me from the beginning. When he asks her to talk ALONE Owen immediately inserts himself and tells Logan that they are a package deal. Instead of asking Owen to give them some space for a few minutes, she goes along with it. This irritates me. Logan has no idea who Owen is, but they both basically shove this down his throat. She could have said okay, and if something went down that she didn’t like she could easily have called him back over. Another thing I didn’t like is Ariah throwing her time away at Logan like it’s his fault. When she tells him that “he’s been gone a year” she acts like HE made that choice. That was both unfair and cruel. I also didn’t like how Aria, Owen, and Mer automatically expect everyone to be onboard with the fact that she’s different. To me this is ridiculous. When it’s convenient they decide to cut people some slack. But when it’s flipped back on them they expect people to be understanding. I feel that there are tons of double standards. No one can speak negatively about Aria without Owen or Mer snapping at them and riding to her defense. But they can say whatever to the others and it’s perfectly fine.
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship concerning Owen in this book. I like that he is good for Ariah and protective of her, but I honestly despise his attitude half the time. He starts acting superior and I start to question where this is coming from. A major issue I have is when he literally kicks in her mother’s door, and then wants to have an attitude when she says him and Ariah can’t sleep together. He acts like because he’s a King and her mate that he should be able to throw his weight around and get what he wants. I was honestly shocked Aria says NOTHING to him behind his rude behavior. Instead, she sits there more often than not like a besotted girl and just thinks “oh how I love him.” I was hoping that the characters would be more mature with what they are facing, but at times come off as trite and childish. I feel they are constantly being rude and disrespectful.
Despite these issues I have with this book and the character flaws, I honestly liked this book. I literally was grabbed into the book from the beginning and up reading for hours because I wanted to know what happened next. I will admit that I feel that the ending was a bit rushed and cut short. I was expecting more of an epic battle that would not be resolved quickly, but what we get is a quick battle that is quickly over. We get a happily ever after with this story though. I like that things come together for all the characters in the end.
At the end of it all, I am rating this book 4 out of 5 stars. The storyline is engaging and well done. While I am disappointed in the characters behind their attitudes and double standards, I like that they manage to overcome the circumstances that are put before them. While there is no epic battle and conclusion to this story, it is still an engaging and interesting story. If you have read the previous books in this series, then pick this book and prepare yourself for the mayhem that is to come that is Ariah, Mer, Owen and those who surround them.

I really liked Reigning Ascent, the third and final book in Jen L. Grey's The Pearson Prophecy series. I definitely think Ariah has come into her own by the last book and like how she strengthens her relationships with her family. I also thought it was quite the page turner, and, if not for my schedule, I probably could have finished it in a day or two.

I had hoped, however, for more explanation on Ariah's father and especially on the villain and his background/relationship with other key players in the story. The awaited confrontation could have been longer as well. Overall, though, it was a very enjoyable read, and I think those who like the work of Victoria Aveyard and her Red Queen series would like this one!

An epic journey of power and darkness is coming to an end..
Ariah and Owen are now heading to Agrolon to meet with King Percy and discuss potential alliance. As expected, after initial surprise of seeing Ari alive, the king's hatred erupts into full rage and not so subtle attempts to kill her once and for good. Problems emerge also with the echoes of past feelings between Ari and the two princes - Sam and Nick. On the other side, the reunion with her family is something to boost Ariah's mind, although it definitely does not go as smoothly as she expected, and some reactions cerainly surprise her. However, there is a threat coming from Crealon, and the forces must be united by the Savior to save them all.
I reveled much in the demonstration of powerful magic and limitless opportunities when enough magic was concentrated. Domineering the elements and bending them to one's will is a skill one must master and fully control in order to be help instead of constant danger to the surroundings, and with the support of her closest ones, Ari worked tirelessly to achieve this goal.
I admit being surprised by the actions of some characters, but in the end, if I thought about it more in depth, I might have expected that. Some scenes I certainy did not see coming, while others were just as expected as always... especially when it comes to Mer. You may expect her to act the way she is, no boundaries, no filter, no manners, but you will love her nevertheless.
I very much liked how things got balanced in the book. Well, I was not so happy that who did not have the balancing element present and won't fit anymore was cut out, but I expected this solution. Makes perfect sense concerning some other aspects of the book.
The plot developed nicely, although the emotions included came out milder than in the previous books, and also the tension did not add much. There was enough action in the majority of the book, but in several spots, I found the scenes lacking and rushed. For instance, the practice of the joined magical powers (extensive and exhausting trainings which longed for what? Several minutes, over a few days?). Also the ending left me quite disappointed. So much preparations for the final battle, so much building, and in the end, you might have snapped your fingers and it was all gone. Coming out like no real effort at all. Only in their minds.
Aside from these lacking moments, the book was very enjoyable and satisfying, and I am glad everyone found their own conclusion. Although, I would be interested how they will solve the issue of having an heir to the throne in Orlon now. But that's for another debate, or left out for the reader's imagination to fill in their own solution.

I received an electronic copy of Jen L. Grey's Reigning Ascent in exchange for an honest review. This third and final installment of the Pearson Prophecy series brings the conclusion of that prophesy and Ariah Pearson's role in the fate of Knova. The book brings its various character arcs to a close and reveals the true identities/roles of its key players. Reigning Ascent is an enjoyable and fast paced read. For me personally I felt the final battle was a bit anti-climatic given all the build up to it, and while it still had some surprises a few outcomes were a bit too predictable. I still enjoyed the story though, would definitely recommend it to YA Fantasy fans, and it is a must read if you've read Dawning Ascent and Enlightened Ascent. I look forward to Ms. Grey’s future works.

Firstly if you haven't read the first two books in this series, go and start them! I have loved reading this series and I am so sad that this trilogy is over :(
The characters have grown and come into their own as the story has progressed, with secrets revealed, friendships formed, betrayals felt and relationships healed. Some characters still make me smirk when i think of them, while others make me smirk in another way lol
The story moves at a fairly quick pace, with twists and turns, not to mention some 'oh hell no' and 'about time!' moments. So if you find yourself laughing out loud at the antics of these characters, just know you wern't the only one!

Ariah is on her way after being gone for a year and is not looking forward to at all. For the sake of all she must go to save the world from the destructive King Percy and Those who are out to help him. Is there anyway better to get back those than to show them who you truly are and what you have become. Owen and all the others are ready for what will be War. Will the be able to defeat and change the world or will others set out to make sure they don't succeed. Amazing read from beginning to end and doesn't leave wanting. Couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more from this author.

Great ending

A page turner of a book, it was hard to put down the book. I loved the plot, storyline and characters. I felt the power they were learning and able to put aside all or most of their differences, grudges to work together to save their world against a person who’s gotten so power hungry that he begins to destroy the land. A great ending but I felt the epilogue was missing something such as what their future would be like; I felt it was similar to a cliffhanger ending to draw the readers wanting more.

I really liked book one and two and was looking forward to the last one in the series. I liked the plot and some things are predictable where others are not. There are also a few twist and turns. However, I found that I did not really like Ari the main character in this book. She complained a lot. I expected her to be more mature in this book but she acted like a teen not some else she is ment to be. I liked Owen in this book more then I did in book two, he acted more like a king.

The end of a trilogy is always bittersweet. This one is no different. In Reigning Ascent Ariah finally comes full circle into her powers. She gets her life together with Owen and stands up to her childhood bullies. War has been building and Ariah and Owen lead the way in their battle against Marcus. *spoiler alert* Not all the Originals are dead.... If you liked the first two, you will love this one. Great job Jen!

I really enjoyed reading this book. Ari has been strong throughout her journey, and I really enjoyed seeing how the individuals that generally gravitated toward her would help her achieve her best, no matter the situation at hand. I would recommend that readers that are interested in YA safe adventures with danger, close bonds between family and friends, and a heroine willing to rise above it all to protect those she loves.

This was such a good conclusion to Ariah's story. Once again, I was completely drawn in, and I loved how the plot developed.
Ari is so much stronger in this book. It was fun to see her finally coming in to herself, and becoming the person she was always meant to be.
I hope more will be done with Ariah's world, even if her story has concluded.

The Person Prophecy comes to light. So many questions are answered and many things play out. Twist and turns here and there with an ensuing battle. Just as awesome as the first two books! I loved this series!!! It was so good! I loved the ending and it seemed like a perfect fit. New relationships and unexpected allies form. Characters begin to transform. Such an exciting read!

Ariah is back, and she's come a long way from the girl she was before, yet she is still the same in some ways. I applauded her efforts to establish and prove herself to everyone, and yet I still see glimpses of the little girl in her. This was an awesome book with some great plot turns and engaging dialogue. This has been a wonderful series.

Wasn't expecting this ending

I agree with some of the other that this book could have went differently. It's still good don't get me wrong. I was just hoping for more. I really wanted to get to know Emerson more. Hopefully there will be a spin off for her story.

I was going to give this one four stars because lots of things finally happened but then I got to that incredibly unfulfilling one page epilogue and was so disappointed. Needed way more closure there.

This is an epic conclusion to a great fantasy series. It offers betrayal, love, family, lies, hatred and a few surprises along the way. I would love for this series to continue just to see how things go from here.

I recommend this for those who enjoy fantasy/witchcraft type YA reads. Please read series in order because each book starts where the previous book stops.
