I'm writing this book to help those who wish to start Paranormal research and want to read about what really happens on investigations. If there was a book like this in 1999 when I took the leap to become the investigator that I am now, I would have thought twice about it. Being a "Ghost Hunter" may seem like a cool label to have but it has its flaws and many who do call themselves investigators don't really know what one really has to do. I've lost track of how many people have said "Oh, I've always wanted to do that" yet, have no idea at all of what is waiting for them.
This book is written by me and me only, and tells of things I have learned over the last 18 years in the hope that you don't make the same mistakes as me. I started at 16 years old going around on a 50cc moped, and have learned the hard way on so many things and I hope after you read this, that you won't make the same ones.
I'm going to go into detail on my feelings and thoughts about the paranormal and allow you to read my personal Diary entries of a few investigations that I have undertaken in the past. I've been part of twenty, or so, teams over the years and have also, run my own teams giving training to over 50 new up and coming investigators, but have now gone solo becoming a "Nomad" of the paranormal world. It has given me the time I need to write this book as well as have a fun journey along the way. For many, being a ghost hunter is all about the `image`, for others, it`s about going in search of the afterlife but not really wanting to put the hours in. You also, have the fame hungry `wannabe's` that think their way to stardom is by this route. I've just come back from a Horror Convention where I came across a new team, giving people the option to have their photo with them for £3.00. I've never heard of these people before and feel any team should stay away from doing this. Then you get the small percentage of people that do it the right way, the way it should be, spending your own money on kit, back ground research, and willing to put the hours in to not only find paranormal evidence but also try to find a way of debunking false evidence. That is the way to tell the different investigators apart, but due to the fact TV has made ghost hunting the new `in thing` to do it's getting harder and many people are letting people into their homes that have less than 10 hours experience. These are my words, doing it my way and sharing my experience. It's not a `how to` guide or a ghost hunting for Dummies. I hope you read my book and understand that the Paranormal is not just about Ghosts, it covers everything from Ghosts, UFO's, Demonology, Wicca, Big Foot, I think you can see where I'm going with this. If, after you read this book and still feel you can do it then go for it! Just do it right and don't be shy to ask for help, question everything. It's getting harder to find library's with books on the Paranormal so your best bet is reading online, watching footage from different teams, and bearing in mind that 90% of Ghosts caught on tape are fake!
