In the Doghouse (Lizzie McGuire Mystery #5): To raise money for an animal shelter, Lizzie starts her own dog-walking and dog-sitting business with her two best friends, Miranda and Gordo. The idea is such a good one that cheerleaders Kate and Claire are seriously jealous-since their own lame pom-pom fundraiser is a total failure. Then someone lets the dogs out of the McGuires' backyard, and Lizzie is really in the doghouse. She not only has to track down the missing dogs, but she's also got to track down the guilty party before he or she strikes again! Could it be her jealous rivals? Her toxic little brother's idea of a prank? Or what about those two neighbors who wouldn't stop complaining about the barking? Time for snoop dog McGuire to sniff out the truth of this doggone mystery!

I simply didn't really care about In The Doghouse. Lizzie immediately soured this book with her bratty attitude, the blurb was incredibly inaccurate to the actual mystery's setup, the stakes weren't really that high as the book portrayed, and the culprit reveal didn't really work for me as well as I wanted it. Sure, it was a different outcome than the past 4 cases, but how that character was written this time around was off, and they never clicked in all the right places.

I have only two mysteries left, and of course I'll finish this series because masochism.

I kid, I kid. I'm curious to see how this ends, actually. Both mysteries sound better than this one did regardless of what's in store for them. Can they just be better and match up to the first?

Lizzie's school is having a contest to raise money for local charities, and Lizzie, Gordo and Miranda get together to run a dog-sitting business. As always with Lizzie, things don't go according to plan. As usual, Lizzie has to handle problems from Kate and from her own brother, Matt. She also has to deal with a cat-loving woman who objects to the dogs in Lizzie's yard, a guy who says the dogs are interfering with his work because they are too noisy, escaped dogs, and possibly even a kidnapped dog.

It's a cute story.
