****I voluntarily reviewed this book, all opinions are my own!***

This review is only for Blood Daughter by KL Bone. I plan on reading the rest of the stories, however, I am a huge fan of KL Bone, so I read her story first.

I loved the beginning of Sadie's story. It was heartbreaking but definitely forming of the world that KL Bone was creating. That back story set the pace for the present day in NYC and I was excited to see where Sadie was going to take her life and how HAV was going to play into it. I'd be definitely interested in hearing more of a story in this, so I hope I eventually get to read more :)

But as always, a great fan of KL Bone's storytelling capabilities and world building and I'm extremely excited that she decided to go vampire and let us into this type of world as well!

5 stars for this short story!

KL Bone's story Blood Daughter is nothing short of spectacular! I am not surprised of course. As a long time fan of her writing, I didn't expect anything less. Her writing flows off the page and wraps around you in a gentle (or not so gentle - PUN intended since we are talking about blood sucking vampires) embrace.

This anthology includes stories about the vampire wars against humans in New York City. Mrs. Bone's characters are vivaciously vicious and are true to the vampiric nature we all are known to love. Sadie is a melancholy and lonely character who laments over love lost when she was once human. Disgusted by the life she has to lead, and the 2,000 years she has to be known only by the daughter of the one most powerful.

Her father is nefarious and diabolical. The humans are slaves, and Sadie is just in the middle. She longs for something more.

If you love the elegance of Anne Rice's writing and the allure of the vampires written in Jeaniene Frosts books, then this is the book for you. KL Bone is a true author to watch and her writing sticks with you for days!

5 Stars and a tip of the Nerd Girl hat. (Please note reviews of the other books in the anthology will be forthcoming, and I will change as soon as I read them.)

Vampires are not usually my thing, but I really enjoyed the first anthology in this series and was looking forward to reading this next installment.

Blood Lust - The plan being put in place for Tillie laid all the drama on the table right from the beginning and had me on edge wanting to know what would happen. There were emotions and betrayal throughout and by the end I was rendered speechless.

The Monster Himself - This story was a chilling walk down memory lane for Joseph and also showcased his pride, power, and darkness. It was interesting hearing his history and also his plans for the future. It made me want to continue on with the book immediately.

Almost Human - This story started with an in-depth look at a vampire fight scene in NY. I felt as if I were there among the crowd sharing in the sights and sounds. Teeka's predicament was worrisome and really had my interest piqued. The ending left me with a lingering curiosity.

Finding Gretel - Erin Lee has done it again; her written word pulled me along by my emotions from start to finish.

Ultimate Sacrifice - This story really intrigued me. I was instantly along on the journey with Milly to try and find her mother. When she received an offer that she couldn't refuse, I was torn emotionally for her.

Blood Daughter - Through this story I gained a deeper, and darker, understanding of Sadie. All that she was and what she was forced to become had emotions raging within me. When the climax of the story came I was shocked by the sudden turn of events. The end left me curious about what would be to come in the future for both Sadie and Tillie.

Bloody Romance - Callie's story was a unique one of being caught between the vampire and human worlds and unwanted by both. I was eager to see what her plan would be going forward. It was shown to be a lonely existence, so I wanted to see her find some place to fit in and be happy. The ending brought hope and maybe even the beginnings of peace.

Caught in the Act - This was tale of yearning and betrayal that pulled me right into its world. Even when things went south, I couldn't turn away. I think this was one of Greig's best stories yet.

Turned - Delude knocked in out of the park again with this spectacular story that really moved things along in the battle of vampire vs human. The whole anthology had been setting the stage a story at a time, but I really felt like this one was setting me up for the climax shortly to come.

Shadow's Call - I loved getting to know more about Denise and the role that she played in everything. As the days ticked away, I was eager to know the outcome of events. The ending of this book definitely left me wanting more. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

This anthology of stories about vampires in New York is fantastic! There are several stories written by different authors, they are all amazing in their own ways and will leave you hooked from the first word until the last! The vampires are vicious and powerful and wonderfully addicting! I love that each story has its own twists and turns and leaves you hooked in different ways for different reasons.

This anthology contains stories written by some of my favorite authors and it’s wonderful to be able to experience their writing in conjunction with the writing of new to me authors!

Definitely give this a read if you love vampires, New York, and the wonderfully woven stories that revolve around, love, loss, power, and pleasure!

A Deadly World: Vampires in New York is the second book in the series and is an anthology of some amazing authors!! I have to admit the first book Vampires in Paris hooked me immediately so it was no surprise that I would
Love the second one just as much. This anthology is comprised of stories about the vampire wars against humans in New York City and the wonderful characters that that I loved andalso hated!!! I was completely lost in reading this book and if your a fan of stories about Vampires than this anthology is a definite must read. I wrote a little on each story by these incredible authors to give a glimpse as why I loved this anthology so much!!!

Blood Lust By Krystle Able

Holy Hell, first story in the book and I am completely and utterly taken in. I love Tillie and her story. She was alone and dying and found someone, a Vampire, Sadie to love. Although the deception was real so were Tillies feelings and now the hurt. I am dying to know what happens next to her and next in this wonderful collection of stories.

The Monster Himself By K.L. Roth

In this story we learn of the great Joseph, the Vampire who has New York and everyone in it at his feet. He is callous and ruthless. He cares for no one but his daughter Sadie. As you learn of his story it is not hard to see why he is heartless and wants revenge. This chapter is a must for the character development and plot and was excellent in painting the picture to the readers of this monster!!

Almost Human By LJC Fynn

Teena and Damien, now that’s a story!!! I love the crossover from the first book Vampires in Paris and this story did not disappoint. Teeka having to fight to get the medicine she needs to stay alive and not turn in a vampire herself is gut wrenching. Seeing. How Damien cares for her and wants so badly to help her with her pain is sweet. Together these two made me smile. I definitely dislike Denise!!!!!

Finding Gretel By Erin Lee

This story was sad. Gretel was doing her best to keep from being a human blood bank or slave. She wanted to believe so badly that there would be a happy ending to her story and that Ned would be the one to help that happen. So when Gretel gets taken I felt sad for her and know that the hope she had is now lost.

Ultimate Sacrifice By Natalie-Nicole Bates

Each story so far has added a different, yet wonderful new element and this one of Millie and Phillip is no different. I did enjoy this very much from the moment Millie got to New York on a mission till she made the ultimate sacrifice in the end… herself. I want more to this instalment. I feel like I need to know what happens to Millie next!!!

Blood Daughter By K. L. Bone

I truly enjoyed this story about Sadie!!! She does not want to be a monster and she refused to let children get hurt or killed. She is not who people think she is and I believe she is sad and lonely. She wants to be free and happy. I do think she loves Tillie and I would love for them to be together someday. Maybe in London?

Bloody Romance By Sara Schoen

Love it!!! Callie and Carlos are my favourites!! This story brings now only love into the equation but faith and hope also. Helping Sadie and trying to end the war brought them closer and I got a feeling they will do everything they can to find peace for all who wants it.

Caught in the Act By Alana Greig

The story of Ned wasn’t what I thought it to be but I did enjoy it quite a lot. Ned had one goal in mind and he would get there with hard work and double crossing. That was till young Molly came into his life and changed it all. As for Molly all she ever
wanted was to be find her moment found Ned instead but that too ended up badly.

Turned By Rita Delude

Each story in this anthology keeps giving me more and more of the characters that I like and keeps pulling me further and further into the story. This particular story is about Elijah and his bar. He always took pride in it until the vampires came destroyed it by tuning it into a place for vampires to eat and see strippers. When Elijah meets Alana I was super happy that he found someone to love.

Shadow’s Call By Laurie Treacy

The story of Denise is so very interesting and I know there is so much more to come. I was even a bit shocked to see how much she cares for her staff and even a human. I thought her more callous than that, my mistake. This story was very good in the terms of suspense and leading up to the end of the anthology. Well done.

Again, loved this anthology, would highly recommend and cannot wait for the next one to come out!! Well done!!!

I love anthologies that link together. Especially ones as well written as this one!
All the characters melt together seamlessly, which just makes this book all the more enjoyable to read.
After the takeover in Paris, New York is the next to attempt to take their city back from Vampires. With a little help, can HAV have a victory or will the Hierarchy get taken down in yet another way all together?
You can read this as a standalone. What happened in Paris is mentioned several times and is very good at keeping the story going and the reader not wondering what is being referenced!!

I'm not one to usually read books about vampires, but this book was definitely worth the read! The authors all have their own writing style, but how the stories are placed, it flows perfectly together! Reading a little piece of the characters lives makes me want to know more about them. If you love reading about the paranormal I HIGHLY recommend reading this! This was definitely a 5 star read for me!

This was different from most books I read. It was dozens of short stories that filled a bigger picture. I read it because I love KL Bones work and I’ll admit I read her story first but it’s not something I recommend if you follow one of these many authors. Start from the beginning and follow the story in this dystopian world.

A good read, lots of action.

I do think in some places the storytelling was confusing because of jumping from present to
past so quickly.
