Brandon Chin is one lucky man. He's got an awesome job working with the production company putting together the new TV show at River's End Ranch, and he owes his sense of surety to the way his Chinese grandparents raised him. He's even ready to take his grandmother's advice and look for love...even though she says it'll happen when he least expects it.
Such as over lunch at the tiny Chinese restaurant in Riston.
The Golden Palace is failing, despite Lin Dryden's best efforts. Apparently the people of Riston are bored with the menu after all these years, and it's up to Lin and her mentor Mr. Lee--the owner--to come up with a way to save the restaurant. Luckily, the lunar New Year is approaching, and that's the best time to make a new beginning, assuming Lin can talk the intriguing Brandon into helping her.
Between cooking for Valentine's Day and cooking for Chinese New Year, plus handling some emergencies that pop up, these two learn what real teamwork is about. But is it enough to save the restaurant? And can someone whose license plate says "4CHIN8" possibly consider giving up the lucky life he's known to find some fortune of his own at River's End Ranch?

Finding Fortune is a charming and interesting story that takes place more around the edges of the River’s End Resort. Oh, we still run into some familiar faces, and really the places we visit in this one we’ve been to before – but the focus of our couple is more off Resort and in the small neighboring town of Riston I also enjoyed this one for the additional things I learned outside of the series. Brandon’s family has seeped him in his Chinese heritage and culture Lin was adopted from China into her multi-cultural American family along with her adopted sister and brother. She grew up trying her best to fit in and knows little of her native culture. As Brandon taught Lin, he also taught me – and it was an additional enjoyable experience.
With the new project going on at River’s End we’re meeting a lot of new people. Brandon is working on the financial part, the investors part of getting this pilot for the Legacy series made. This Californian’s reaction to the snowy, cold winter of Idaho gave me several chuckles and a few laugh out loud moments. Lin and Brandon’s romance is a steady, slow burn as they get to know each other and discover that they are perfect for each other – but she’s established here with Mr. Lee and his restaurant, and he’s from the West coast where his job is… something has to change for them to be together forever. Watching them work together and mesh their lives together was an enjoyable time.
I’m also looking forward to a new series that begins in April of 2018 that has Lin’s adoptive sister in a staring role… I love connections between stores, even small ones. Through their Skype conversations we get an idea of what is happening on the other side of the world. So, yes, looking forward to discovering that one.
As always I enjoyed my time at River’s End Ranch and would definitely recommend this entire series to any Contemporary Romance reader… these stories are quite addicting.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
This is another wonderful story by Caroline Lee for the River’s End Ranch series. I have to say I just loved this story and its so different that I think it makes this one unique for this series for at least as many books I have been able to read. This is a culture adventure that is fun and crazy and absolutely funny at times that had me really laughing. The hero, Brandon is Chinese and in the movie business. He comes to the ranch in Riston, Idaho to talk to his friend Steven who wants to film a tv show there. Brandon has come to get financing for this show and to make sure things are going well. When Brandon and Steven go out to lunch they go to the only Chinese restaurant in town. They see there isn’t much business there and they weren’t sure if they should seat themselves. Just as they were about to seat themselves the hostess comes out to seat them. Lin shows them to the table and she noticed the wonderful dimples on Brandon. They are seated and Steven immediately tells Brandon that he should go out with Lin. Brandon was not sure about that because he lives in LA and she is here in very cold Idaho.
The story is more the interest between them and her working at a Chinese Restaurant and her also being Chinese never using chop sticks and he decides to teach her on dates and teach her about her culture she is not aware of.
This story is so much fun and I loved every bit of it and laughed a lot and couldn’t put it down.
This is a great addition to the River’s End Ranch series and if you have been reading this series make sure you add this one to the list. I know you will enjoy it.
I received this ARC to read but I wanted to review it and this is my honest opinion. I didn’t receive any compensation for my review.
Brandon Lee is freezing at Rivers End Ranch. His involvement with the pilot for the series Legends is keeping him busy, but he's lonely. At the local Chinese restaurant, Linda, lis the hostess and server. She may be from China, but she is not Chinese. Adopted to America, she is fully American. After all her mother is Italian. Lin has green eyes and is beautiful, but she doesn't date customers. What's a guy to do? Read this wonderful story filled with soy sauce, Valentine's and Chinese New Year. Oh and a fairies too.
I really enjoyed this story. Ms. Lee is a great storyteller.
Brandon and Lin were both happy and content in their lives. I liked how their relationship developed over time and wasn’t rushed. They got to know one another through the love of food and him sharing Chinese culture with her. There was such a kindness in him that really won me over too. I liked her caring nature towards Mr. Lee and their friendship.
If you want a quick and entertaining read then give this one a shot. There is yummy food involved too.
I have loved reading the books in this series. This one, however, is one of my favorites. The story of Lin and Brandon is lovely. Lin may be Chinese, but she knows nothing of her culture because she was adopted. Brandon is a wonderful teacher, chef, and human being. It's so nice to cheer for everyone since there are no negative characters. Indeed we are fortunate to have their story the week it applies. Happy year of the dog!
Just in time for Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year, a lovely and sweet plot line. Not a book for those new to the series, but finally, a couple that is not Caucasian. Jacqueline makes an appearance, and I'm concerned that she and the fairies are still at odds, but really on the edge of my seat to see how that's resolved. Thanks for lots of smiles and kisses this time of year.
These little novellas typically take an hour or two to read, but not this one. The beginning was extremely slow & Brandon seemed like an overbearing, cocky man who had no respect for when a woman says no. Then it was like a different writer took over because the main characters personalities completely changed and the story began to flow. But it was very hard to get into this book and nothing about it held my attention.
This story was sweet and adorably heart felt. The fact that it brought into play the Chinese restaurant that had been mentioned so often in past books was great. The fact that Lin and Brandon found love while cooking was even better.
Always love the River’s End Ranch series and I hope that future stories continue to give us insights into the continuing stories of the Weston family which include Jaclyn and her fairies.
A delightful stand alone Chinese New Year novella. This reader enjoys the quirkiness of this series with Jaclyn's fairies, garden gnomes, rabbits and matchmaking. Believable characters, delightful community setting at River's End Ranch with Old West town (general store, bookstore, bakery, and a soda shop) in Riston, Idaho, some unexpected twists, and a satisfying resolution. Caroline Lee includes Chinese words to give the story an authentic feel and recipes are included.
This was another great story and Riston and how the ranch has a way of bringing couples together. Lin was adopted into her family so working at Golden Palace has given some insight into her heritage. Brandon is there to set up things at the ranch for his job when he meets her. But can they find love!
Love the town and the ranch and all the people who live there. These books make me want to live there. My only complaint is the stories end too quickly. Thank you for another great read in the series!
This is a very enjoyable sweet romance with adorable and heartwarming characters that will steal your heart from the very beginning and keep you laughing til the very end.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The love story was very sweet! I was excited to learn all the things about Chinese culture throughout the book! A wonderful read! Thank you for the reading pleasure Ms Lee!!!
This was such a fun book! I loved learning all of the tidbits of Chinese Culture, and finding out all about Brandon and Lin’s romance. I especially loved that 2 uncommon characters could make the best kind of love story!
Lin & Brandon Can a big shot television dude help a waitress save a small Chines restaurant in a small town in Idaho? Can this dude return to his roots and help the waitress discover the meaning of hers?
I absolutely love this beautiful story of culture, family, and love. Lin's story is endearing in many ways and I can't wait to learn about her sister Toni too.
A cute whimsical story of finding fortune and learning about a culture and it's bits of meaning the love that shines through make for a great afternoon read
Light hearted Rom Com to enjoy. I did not get the license plate until the end though! Chinese culture was fun to learn for all ages sweet and clean. - Babs
