Kaylee & Jasiah #1

Captive Hearts

Rate this book
“I would say I need to protect my heart, but I don’t have a heart because it’s still in his possession. And it has been for the last seven years, so I guess I’m protecting my sanity.” -Kaylee

Kaylee Duncan is a successful TV producer, with a beautiful daughter who is the light of her life. Her life is going in the right direction for once, until in walks the father of her child and her one and only love, Jasiah. Seven years prior, he ended their relationship and disappeared without a trace, leaving her to pick up the pieces of her shattered heart. She sucked up the hurt and buried it deep inside, just as she always did, and went off to college. She found out months later that she was pregnant, with no way to get in contact with him. Jasiah’s return opens more wounds than one for Kaylee, and she finds herself battling a trauma she buried a long time ago, along with fighting the feelings that’s resurfaced for Jasiah as well.

“I know you’re still fighting your feelings for me, but eventually, you have to face the fact that your heart belongs to me, Kaylee, and I’m telling you now I’m coming for what’s mine.” -Jasiah

Jasiah Moore was ready to make good on his plans to be with his high school love, Kaylee, forever at the young age of eighteen, but things changed when tragedy struck in his life, leaving him a broken young man. He broke things off with Kaylee and disappeared without a trace. Seven years later, he’s back, and when he finds out he has a daughter with the only woman he’s ever loved, he sets out to get her back. The only problem is Kaylee doesn’t want any part in his plans. As he fights to get his family under one roof, he battles with the demons of why he left in the first place.

This is a story about healing, second chances, and true love.

Poor Josie having to see her grandma like that. I feel bad for her. I'm glad that Kaylee and Jasiah reconnected and were working on their relationship. I can't wait to read part 2 to see what happens.

Redeeming Black Love

Asia Monique ranks among the best as a true black love writer although her work is not bound by color lines. She gives the right amount of everything: characters' background, character's struggles, character's desires. I appreciate the fact that her characters are able to find closure and an happy ending. Jasiah is the perfect guy: honest, transparent, fearlessly persistent. Kaylee, like most of Asia's female characters, is slightly fragile, but yet still secure. Looking forward to Valerie's story!

Second Chance Love

I like how Kaylee was honest with Josiana when she asked questions about her dad Jasiah and how Josiana acted when she saw Jasiah at the mall with her mom Kaylee and Valerie. Everyone was totally shocked but at least Jasiah took the news well of finding out her had a daughter and he immediately stepped up to the plate. I hate Kaylee witnessed who she thought was her mom, Shelly, murder her dad Robert but her real mom Helena died while giving birth to her sister Valerie who she thought was her cousin. I don't like how their aunt Tati told them the truth out of anger instead of in a loving way. I'm glad that Jasiah is seeking help to deal with his brother Johnathan's death. I think Noah is totally gone over Valerie. I hope Ms.Moore pulls through because their family is really going through a lot of things.

Really good love story and I enjoyed it from beginning to the very end and still wanted more. This book showed the true meaning of love and that it never dies, regardless of the time apart. This bok has so many twist and turns add all the drama and secrets, made for a really good read. Loved the storyline and it flowed really well and I couldn't put it down, Loved Kaylee and Jasiah, so glad they got it together. Wasn't expecting the events leading up to the end and I can't wait to see what happens next. Asia, your writing is getting better with each book, Job well done.

Good Good Stuff!

This story was so good it read like seeing Love and Basketball. This was not only a story of second chances but one of healing as well. The two main characters are going to find there way back to one another but not before some secrets are exposed and some truths are told. The writer pulls you into this silken web with a well written story and very good character development and the chemistry is off the charts. If you want a look into love that's not only fun, sexy and intense this is the story for you.

Not the usual Dope Boy storyline!!!

Started off a little slow with little action, but got better as story went on still dragged. Kaylee and Josiah are made for each other. Now that they finally able to be together, secrets and tragedy is coming at them. Titi, knows she was wrong all the way around. Kaylee and Val’s relationship will be even stronger now. Josie is the star of the story... Bring on part 2.....

True Love

True love really does conquer all. Who knew an outing at the mall would change their lives forever? Josie is tooo cute for words. I love how Kaylee and Jasiah still loved each other after all that time. I was so glad when they finally had that talk and got everything out in the open. That was the turning point. The secrets their family kept from Kaylee were too much. I hope she gets her closure. Poor Jasiah. Can’t wait for part two.

Good love story

Jasiah and Kaylee had a love that would never die. The heart wants what the heart wants. Josie is a dive baby. I love her attitude and all. Tati was wrong to reveal that secret the way she did. Would like to see where Noah and her cousin story is going to be. I can see the chemistry there. This could've been a standalone in my opinion. Other than that good read. I hope Jasiah mother is ok. But why would she be sick and tell him knowing how Jasiah could react???

Love the way you love me

I loved them!!! This story is full and rich in how true love will stay with you no matter what. I love the way you love me is the image I get when these two are talking to each other. This book is for trusting your gut feeling and don't compromise and go get your true love back if available. The discovery of Josie was just a pleasant intro to what love is. Great read and so glad I stumbled upon this author.

What a nice love story

Kaylee is happily in love and then one day the love of her life tells her he has to leave. Leaving her pregnant but Kaylee continues on to build the life for her and her daughter Josie. Jasiah received some devastating news and decides to run leaving the love of his life behind. But if it's meant to be it will be and it is. This is a nice love story can't wait to get the part 2.

Didn't expect that ending

Kaylee and Jasiah had to get together, it was only right. What they have to do now is face the past in order to secure their future with their little lady Josiana. Their daughter was hilarious and smart. The past showed its ugly head in a major way. Val and Kay's world is turned upside down. Family secrets are coming out and Jasiah is going to go nuts.

Aww True Love

Life has a way of throwing you all types of twists and turns. Kaylee and Jasiah both went through some things in their lives. I hoping they continue to fight together and for each other. It might be a problem with Valerie, Usef and Noah. I never saw that coming from the aunt though.

Good

This book wasn't bad but it wasn't the best either. I was kinda mad because it could have been better. It was kind of slow at times. I love Josiah & Kaylees love for each other. That plot twist was crazy. I never would have guessed that, that was what was going on. I'm interested to see how ethos plays out now.

Second chance

Kaylee & Jasiah 😍 they warmed my heart! I loved their story and Josie! Kaylee and Jasiah both have demons that they are battling but I loved the fact that Asia brings in a therapist, that’s important for the black community because we are finally breaking the mode that us as black people need to be aware of mental health issues.

Just Wow

How do you go your entire life thinking one thing, then to find out it’s all a lie as an adult. Siah’s world collapsed when his brother died and he is just getting it back I pray that this new event won’t push him over the edge.

!

I believe this book could’ve been a standalone. I wonder if Kaylee will visit her mother to get the answers she need. I wonder what’s going on with Jasiah’s mother. Hoping all these questions are answered in the next book.
