What a delightful Retelling. I love beauty and the beast retellings, it's my favourite fairytale so anything about it I'm bound to love, and this book was no exception

This story briefly overlaps with the first book of the series, Fated, with Ella, so it would be best to read all the books in the series in order as they overlap. But I guess you could read it as a standalone too

Belle has it all, beauty, intelligence, money, heir to the family bank. To all her peers it would appear she has a perfect life. But in reality it's anything but.

Her father is abusive, verbally at first, threatens them and tells them they are pathetic and worthless. Her sisters and Belle have survived a lot but it's Belle who suffers the most. She may be the youngest, with two older sisters and her older brother, her father declared her his heir. Why? Because of her bloodline features. She is beautiful, with dark brown hair, brown eyes, fair complexion and tallest. She is the picture of a true Fenra. The bloodline that is loyal to the crown. Because of her looks, she suffers the anger of her father if she makes simple mistakes and the hatred of her brother and sisters, because she is the chosen heir

Fed up, she longs to escape, and she finds her chance but before she can take it, while completing her final exam, their is an explosion which makes her lose most of her memories
She is now considered worthless to her father, and is sent away to the palace with false chargers against her

Here she meets the prince, or as he has been known as beast, not because of his looks, no he is the definition of handsomeness. He is beast because of what he did for his father, killed all the traitors to the crown without hesitation

But will love blossom when they meet ? Or will there be hatred and anger because of what and who they are?

You'll love this story, I guarantee it, but I also will guarantee that it will break your heart! You'll want to through the book across the room! I wanted to but couldn't as I read on the iPad but I was so tempted to do it!!

But you'll love it anyways, its those books that will become a favourite!

Received a copy from the author, for an honest review, thank you!

I wasn't a huge fan of the romance; it seemed a bit abrupt near the end. I can understand where came from, but I think it should have been foreshadowed more or explained better. I like the characters, and I especially loved learning more about Belle. She was a fascinating character and her world was very interesting, so I especially liked the first part of the book, with her "normal" of sorts. I enjoyed all of it, though.

The plot was exciting, but I quickly guessed the big reveal (), which took away some for me. It had some retelling at the start again, but it wasn't excessive, and it was interesting seeing that bit from another perspective. I was glad to move on with the story since the last book didn't really.

The writing/prose was good; I have no complaints, though perhaps some more drama—one-line paragraphs and the like—would be beneficial.

Excellent third book in the series. I like the progression of the larger story and the different viewpoints you see, and you still don't see everything. Great way to maintain mystery and interest while still satisfying the reader.

This is the third book in Kaylin Lee's Destined series. I received a free ARC from the author. (Thank you!!)

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so far and thus had high expectations for Belle's story. That said, Hidden: Rapunzel's Story, Book 2, kind of threw me for a bit of a loop. (You can see my review for more details.) So, I wasn't really sure what to expect, but I was still expecting it to be good...if that makes sense. The story did overlap with the others, just as book two did with book one.

I really like Lee's world. I love the cultures and the political system she has created. It's one of the biggest things that drew me to her series and up to this point. I like the mages and the history she's crafted. I wanted to learn more (and still do!). This story was told from a Procus lady's perspective, which was just as enticing to me because I wanted to see more of Lee's world. I really enjoy her characters too. They make me smile and make me mad and heartbroken all together. I think she writer her characters very well, so I was very excited to meet her new ones and return to some of her older ones. Estevan really drew my attention. He was far more complex than I think she let on. I'd love to see a story (or this one!) from his perspective. There were so many moments when I just wanted to get inside of his head. And there were times when I felt I knew what was going on and I just wanted to yell at Belle cause she wasn't getting it! Not to say I didn't really enjoy Belle, cause I really did. She didn't exactly fascinate me the way Estevan did, but I loved her personality and her thoughts intrigued me. I liked following her logic and I loved her heart. The plot kept me involved and even guessing at a few points. I didn't find anything completely obvious or predictable, but I wasn't really on the edge of my seat through it all either. Of course, I was totally on edge in a couple of major plot spots! I think Kaylin Lee writes very well for the most part and I'm eager to see where she goes.

I had one minor issue and one major issue with the story. The minor issue was some of the pacing. If you read my review of the second book, you know I didn't quite accept the pacing of the story itself. Well, this one was much more like the first one--better paced, in my opinion, than book two was. However, there was one spot early on and one later on where I kind of tilted my head and flipped back and forth between the pages. The pacing was off again, but only in those two spots. Otherwise, it read like a normal story playing out. My major issue...well, I guess it was with character in one specific spot. Not to give anything away, but the romance was so well built up. I liked Lee's take on the Beauty and the Beast. There were some great nods to the classic tale and some creative twists on it as well. I thought Estevan was a great beast in more ways than one, but his declaration at the end was...abrupt. Out of nowhere. There was no logic behind his actions and his explanation for them was unsatisfactory for me. The whole book was so not "insta-love" but his declaration in the end felt all "insta-love." It was kind of strange...other than that, I loved it!

I will eagerly await the next story in the series! Oh, as a sidenote, whatever happened with the thing that happened to Zel at the end of book two?! That wasn't mentioned at all!

A good addition to the series. I liked the twist on Belle's story where her father isn't a loving person and her sister's aren't so much mean but reclusive because of their own dark lives. Belle's super smart and has a strong moral compass. Unfortunately part of being smart and deciding to take her father's empire apart means that she knows what she can't afford to do. She can't afford to be kind. She has to be snippy to the servants so they won't get hurt and so she won't get in trouble. She has to be nasty to everyone she comes in contact with so that her father won't come after either party because she dared to be kind.

Everything gets turned upside down when Belle sustains a serious head injury that her father decides doesn't need healed.

That leads me to my first issue. Daddy dearest heals all physical evidence of the wound but nothing else. WHY?! He has the money! This is his heir. He WANTS her to be able to function. But he leaves her with brain damage and then proceeds to get mad at her multiple times because of things she does that he relates to her being brain damaged. He'll sit there and tell her that she's not right or useful after her accident. So WHY didn't he heal her? He knows why she's not operating as normal yet never calls a healer in to fix the problem. If he was trying to eliminate her at that point he could've easily just done that at any point.

Anyway, Belle ends up arrested for something her father did and she is told to take the fall for it because with her brain injury she's useless to him anyway so she can at least do this.

Most of the rest of the story takes place in the bottom of the palace. I really liked Belle's scenes and what she was doing, how she thought, what actions she took, etc.

What I didn't like so much was, again, the romance. There were too few interactions between Belle and Estevan. While there were more than between D and Zel last book, these ones also lacked sufficient dialogue/actions to show whyyyyy they like each other. You don't see them falling in love. It's basically Belle admitting she's dreamed about him for years despite having no idea what kind of person he is. Heck, even right up until the end the Prince is all, "I only want to marry you for the crown." If some guy kept telling me that I'd be all nope central. I wouldn't even make it to the last 20 pages or whatever where he changes his mind.

The resolution was good, there was just enough crossover between this and books 1 and 2 to make a connection. Really Belle as a character was the primary thing that carries this book and she's very well-written.

I liked this book quite a bit, and i LOVE Belle - even though she's not a typical Belle character, i loved her spirit and her capability, even in the first book (Fated). I felt she had so much potential! And I'm the front of this book, seeing the scene from her perspective was really lovely. However, Twisted has some major issues. I would still recommend reading the book (especially if you're on Kindle unlimited, like me), but just bear in mind that it had a few major issues so don't have super high expectations.

Also, I'm trying to keep my review spoiler free, but it's slightly hard to review this book accurately without giving away a couple of things, so stop reading now if you want to read it without any spoilers whatsoever.

Issues!

1. Belle is so OBLIVIOUS throughout much of the book! I get that she's injured and labouring through her injury, but i don't see why she didn't decide to fight for her life earlier. I get that she was terrified of her father, but if she was already going to be executed, surely she has nothing left to lose.

2. The reversal of his feelings and declaration of love from the prince at the end is completely unexplained. I am totally fine with the whole 'hiding your feelings out of some misplaced notion that it is what is best for the one you love' trope, but in this case there was no explanation whatsoever for prince Estevan's sudden change of mind.

3. Cliff-hanger ending. I said this in my review of Hidden, and I'll say it again - i don't like introducing a new element right at the very end. In this case it felt even more unfinished than Hidden, and was so clearly a set up for the next book. Really feels like a cheap ploy to make us read Ruby's story. I'm still going to read Ruby's story, but only because her introduction in Hidden was really intriguing. NOT because of the set up in Twisted, which was really quite unnecessary - it should have been an epilogue of book 3 or a prologue of book 4, NOT the ending of book 3.

Love Love Love! Her Best Book Yet!

I absolutely love Beauty and the Beast fairytales and this book was no exception! I've been waiting for Belle's story for a long time and Miss Lee did not disappoint! I love her message that there can be both beauty and a little bit of "beast" in all of us. And I loved watching Belle's transformation from spoiled brat to beloved heroine. Her backstory was so much deeper and complex than I could've imagined and I admire her character that much more for fighting to overcome that darkness. It just serves to remind us that you can't judge others by what you see on the surface. Belle is truly an idol to look up to. She's smart as a whip, holds tight to her morals and refuses to give up even when her situation seems impossible. And Estevan, oh Estevan *sigh* talk about your dark, brooding hero...the tension between him and Belle was just incredible. It had me turning page after page just waiting for the fireworks to explode! And on top of the amazing character development, Miss Lee does a spectacular job of giving us a deeper look into a different side of Asylia; this time we get to see the inner workings of the government and the dynamic between royalty and the upper class. All in all, I think Twisted was Miss Lee's best work yet and while I can't imagine her topping it, I'm exited to see what she's got in store next for the series.

4.5 stars! I fell in love with this series earlier this year and have raved about it to anyone and everyone that would listen. I have loved each and every book thus far. I had been so excited for this one and was super thrilled when I discovered that the third book had come out. I am a big fan of Beauty and the Beast and was thrilled that Belle was the next story. That being said I must say that I liked this one just a tiny bit less than the first two books in the series.

Though I loved Belle and Estevan and though I did enjoy their story there was just seemed to be something that was missing for me in the third book. I am not sure what. I think maybe I would have enjoyed more scenes with our Beauty and her Beast. Perhaps more bonding between the two? That being said I did truly enjoy the story. I loved that we saw more of Ella,Zel and the twins. The twins tend to brighten up any chapter they are in. I really enjoy the politics of this world. Kaylin Lee does a wonderful job of world building in these books. I do think that you really need to read them in order because Ella's story really sets up the world.

Next up seems to be a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood which is my very favorite fable so I am anxiously waiting for the release! Please don't keep me waiting too long!!!

Compelling, original story with just a nod to the original

The greatest thing about these books is that they are true original stories with none of the cliched plot points I've come to expect from other retellings. There are just enough hints at the original that you can recognize them, but they never lead to a point where you can guess the plotline ahead of how our unfolds. I'm hooked.

With that being said, you may wonder why I withheld a star. There are very few books I give a 5 star rating to, and usually it doesn't happen just after I've finished a book. I like to sit with a story for a long while. I later I still am thinking about and drawing lessons from a book then I will change my eating to 5 stars.

This was an AMAZING read! Belle is my favorite princess, so I always look forward to reading a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I love the way that Kaylin Lee created the "Beast." I have enjoyed exploring the world of Procus/mage/commoner so far throughout this series.

**SPOILER ALERT** As the oldest of four, I admired how Belle re-built her relationship with her sisters, Jade and Kaia.

Here is one of my other FAVE Beauty and the Beast retellings for those of you who have an ultimate crush on Belle... A Tale of Beauty and Beast

Destined series review - i loved it. Perfect for teen readers

This series is styled as a “retelling” of fairy tales but it’s really just interesting new stories with just a hint of the basis in the fairy tale. All three were very enjoyable to read. Perfect for a young/teen reader. (Some references to sex (in that Zel is pregnant when she meets Ella in the first book) and drug usage.)

Definitely my favorite of the series yet! This book picked up pretty much where Fated/Hidden left off, and it was interesting and engaging from the start. Like the others, I pretty much figured out where it was going long before the big reveal, but it was still a fun listen. The romance was the best-developed yet as well, and I appreciated the twist on the Beauty and the Beast. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one!

Fun little series

Well, now I’m to the end of what’s currently written. Guess I’ll have to come back later. So far I’ve enjoyed this. The second book got a bit tedious in the overlap with the first book, but this gives a whole different perspective on the same time frame and beyond. Nicely entwined fairy tales with plenty of good values thrown in.

Expect the unexpected

The Destined series is one of twists, turns, intrigue, romance and suspense. TWISTED captivates you from beginning to end. It was one of the best twists on Beauty and the Beast I have ever had the Joy of reading and I will continue to enjoy reading again and again.

I enjoyed this book, and the different take on the fairy tale. I liked the overall story arc and the heroine's personal ending. I've read the other stories in the series and they add to the background of the novel.

However, I'm dissatisfied with the way the romance wrapped up. I had to think about it and justify it to myself, rationalize it. So, 4 stars.

Love fairytales

I love the story of Beauty and the beast and this one did not disappoint. It was interesting to have Belle's father not be the living parent that we are accustomed to. Belle not only had to learn to love the beast but also be strong enough to stand up to her father.

I enjoy this author and the fantasy world she has created. This want my favorite of the series because I liked when the main character felt in control and often she didn't. She suffered a lot and that felt rather discouraging. I would have liked another chapter about the happy ending, to help compensate for the darkness of the story. Also, I was rooting for Cole ; )

Great Retelling

Book 3 is as good as book 1 .... the retelling of Beauty and the Beast was well told. I love the interweaving of not only the characters but also the stories from the first two books. That takes a lot of effort to make them work so well together and this author did it in a very intricate and entertaining way.

I enjoyed Fated, but for some reason, not so much this book. The pacing and character development was erratic, which makes me wish the book was longer to develop the plots and characters properly. What I did enjoy was the interactions between Belle and Ella, evolving from class rivals to friends over the two books.

Couldn't put it down

In book 1 we disliked belle because of how she treated ella. And now in book 3 we learn why, how she felt acting that way, and watch her grow. Absolutely loved it.

Royalty, Novels and Gangsters

What do they have in common? They all fight for power! Can Belle and Estefan find a way to save their city from this power struggle? Maybe if they don't get themselves killed first. Super fun read.

I will never see Belle the same again. I really thought I wouldn't like her character since Ella didn't really like her but it's really all about point of view. I am so glad Weslan and Ella are getting married. Also Belle and Estevan.
