Not kindle unlimited, saw it on freebie day {there are couple or so other ones like this in that language but none are kindle unlimited}, but since I read Spanish and I've read the other {English} one on Ancient Egypt thought it would be fun to read through this version.

This book was painful to read. Poor grammar, unprofessional colloquialisms abound, and worst of all, there are factual inaccuracies within the text. (Pharaoh Djoser was THIRD dynasty, NOT fifth, and it was HE who tapped Imhotep to build the first pyramid at Saqqara, not Sneferu at Meidum.)

This book reads like a VERY poorly edited Cliffsnotes-like version of Egyptian history, while incorrectly relating heavily documented dates and locations, and glossing over or even ignoring some of the most interesting historical figures in Egyptian history. Hopefully the next one I find will be better.

There's a lot of information about Cleopatra in this book that generally is not covered in other accounts of her life. One very interesting point is that no one really knows just what she looked like. The legend is that she was beautiful but if you examines coins online with her image on them beauty is not the word that comes to mind.

It's also noteworthy that she really loved Egypt even though she was not Egyptian herself. She was very smart and could influence people, especially men. He relating to the goddess ISIS is covered as well as what she did for the peasants, her relationship to Caesar, how Cicero really sincerely hated her, the legend of Osiris resurrected and her various children.

It also goes into her involvement in various internal struggles of Roman leadership and how this led to her eventual downfall.

It's really fills out the legend of Cleopatra and is worth reading.

Ancient Egypt: A Captivating Guide to Egyptian History, Ancient Pyramids,… — Captvating History (9 chapters + Introduction and Conclusion) March 3-April 19, 2018

Short and sweet review.

This was a very enjoyable read that took me longer to complete because I read it more throughly and over a longer period of time that I normal.

If you can get past some of the typos, this is a good book that covers not only the history of Egypt, but the customs and beliefs.

The “bonus/teaser” chapters to other books in this series at the end of the book were just as fascinating. Both Ancient Greece and Maya Civilizations look like excellent books in this series. There was also a teaser for Aztec History.

I would read any of these books, and highly recommend them for any one that wants a down-to-read, easy to understand read of these cultures.

A good introductory book for anyone looking for something quick to read about a subject they know little about.

A brief overview of Egypt's ancient history. If you know anything about Ancient Egypt, this will come across as very light review, almost like mainstream songs pulled from a plethora of great albums. I can imagine this book being a good first book for anyone interested in the subject, but I unfortunately didn't get much out of it.

I don't necessarily like rating books like this as low as I have, but not all books will appease all audiences, so I can't give it anything better, especially as short as it is, though that could easily be a positive for anyone looking for something quick about a subject they know little about (I will use that as my new first line).

It’s great that Egyptian women had the same rights as men of their station and could work outside the home, own property, and be whatever they wanted to be. Unless they were of the royal line: then they had absolutely no rights and had to do whatever (or unnatural) task was set before her.
I found it interesting that the average age of death was 35 because of disease or injuries, but that many people lived to reach old age.
An interesting book which covers various tiers of society, historic periods, and even the deities of Ancient Egypt with enough information to inform but not overwhelm. More like an introduction to the topic.

If you need help understanding Ancient Egypt this book is for you.

I have long been fascinated by Egyptian history, ever since I was in school. This book provides a basic understanding of the Kingdoms and Dynasties in Ancient Egypt. You also read about the social structure and who held the power within Ancient Egyptian society. Religion, Mythology and the Rituals of Ancient Egypt are also explored. I highly recommend this book if you have an interest in Ancient Egypt.

It will be money well spent and a great read.

I’ve always felt intimated and overwhelmed by Ancient Egypt’s timeline so this book definitely made all that much more clear. It is a good stepping stone to furthering anyone’s research into Ancient Egypt. The author’s writing is easy to understand and I gave me a better understanding of the civilization in Ancient Egypt.

Quick trip to Egypt

I liked this book, and how it was set up.
This is a skin fact type presentation but it gave me a lot to learn and research. The details, while not abundant, were interesting along with just a couple pictures included.
This is a quick read that will give you the important ideas, leaving you to...dig up the rest ;D

Extremely basic, several major errors, and minor typos. Wikipedia is more detailed, but if you want any basic overview of Egyptian history, this book might do it. It desperately needs a “for the reading“ section. The Kindle version has several samples from other books in the series, so it is actually shorter than it appears.

Despite some grammatical errors and some historical inaccuracies, this book is a not so bad way to get introduced to the world of Ancient Egypt.

Having read and studied this ancient civilisation at great lengths, it would be wise to read other, more accurate books, should the reader wish to delve further in to one of the worlds my intriguing and ancient civilisations.

Simple book about ancient Egypt but very informative and touched on a lot of different aspects of history.

I really like the fact that these books are in English and translated into german . that way i can attend to two hobbies at the same time. i love history and language learning
