Design Roots provides a comprehensive review of culturally significant designs, products and practices which are rooted to particular communities through making tradition and a sense of place. Important book about cultural sustainability and how designers can contribute. Most chapters are interesting, some very much so. Nearly all are easy to approach and well written without losing academic rigour.
It seems Stuart Walker is some sort of design for sustainability powerhouse. That’s great. We need more writers and scholars as good and productive as Walker apparently is.
