OMG IT'S OVER.
I'm so excited.. and no I won't count the next book as a real book. It doesn't exist in my eyes because I don't want to read it - ever.

Reckoning is the seventh, yes you read that correctly, installment of The Four Horsemen series. In my opinion, this series is 6 books too long. After the first book, I just started to despise all of the characters. I also hated the damn cliffhangers these books shoved my way. Not only did they make me want to dive into the next one but they also made me hate myself because it was yet another book in this series. Then there's the fact that Vee, the MC, was just so freaking annoying that I just ended up hating her so much. Even the guys were getting so freaking annoying that I was rooting for the bad guys to win.

Now rooting for the bad guy in this series was just so freaking sad and disappointing. WHY? Well, because Seth is a fucking idiot. He's probably the worst villain ever written and yet, I was still rooting for him to win. I was expecting him to get hit by a smart rock or something and then he could actually be more villain-y. Spoiler alert, it didn't happen at all.

The ending was meh and the battle was disappointing. I'm glad it's freaking over and that the 8th book doesn't exist to me. Mostly because I don't want to end up hating christmas or joy.

The time has come. Chaos must be stopped or the world will be destroyed. Verity knows who she is and that she can stop Chaos with Order but it will also mean her death. The farmhouse is gone and with Chaos opening portals Vee and her Pony Boys head to the US to plan the final battle. There the arrival of unanticipated allies brings new hope and a new plan but also brings more unexpected information. There was more to the prophecy than they understood. There is even more to Vee than they realized and the Pony Boys' role in the world is more than guarding the portals. Each one of the five plays a specific, vital role but something has gone wrong with the prophecy. It wasn't supposed to turn out like it has. Does it mean their doom or their salvation? Can their allies be trusted? Is their a way to destroy Chaos and also save Vee? Will the Horsemen still be needed if the portals are sealed? Is love enough when the world can be consumed by Chaos and Order? In the end, Love Is EVERYTHING.

Reckoning is the final book in The Four Horsemen series. It's been a long, difficult fight since Vee first hit Heath with her car and invaded the lives of the Pony Boys. Not all of the guys welcomed their fifth at first but Vee owned a piece of each of them, literally. She shared their powers, she stole their hearts. She became the center of their universe and they were her everything. This is a powerful bond. One that can topple kingdoms or maybe even destroy a god. If not, they will give it their all and go down together as one, forever.

This book is non-stop tension. From beginning until nearly the end, it's hard to catch your breath. Seth/Chaos always has the upper hand; he's always one step, two steps ahead. It's hard to fight an all-powerful god with no conscience and no loyalty to another, especially when there are people you dearly love and want to keep safe and when you feel a responsibility to all of humanity. The worry is amped up by the fact that trusted allies are hurt or disappear and the rest of your allies can't truly be trusted. When everyone has their own agendas and wants a particular outcome that may not be the exact same as the one you desire, alliances are shaky at best. At worst they are deadly. The outcome is never clearly determined until the final moments so it's impossible to put this book down. Be careful when you start reading; don't start near bedtime, when you should be working, taking care of the kids, etc. You will neglect the world around you once you step into the time of the apocalypse with Vee and the Pony Boys.

This conclusion is a worthy finale to this part of the story. Vee's character grew so much from her introduction. Her strength was formidable, her heart even more so. The Pony Boys each became fuller characters as they fell in love. They each became more a part of the world around them. They may have been sent here to keep humanity safe but it took loving Vee to show them how to be human, to show them why humanity deserved saving. Vee brought out the best version of the Horsemen. Joss's smile, Ewan's hugs, Heath's zest for life, and Xander's 'surrender' were all because of their fifth and a prophecy gone wrong.

I look forward to Syv's book next. That girl has more than one story to tell. I am also thrilled to read "What's next!!" Bright! Unbound! This was unexpected but so desired! Thank you, Lisa!

I’m not worried about the world burning, Vee. I’m terrified that if it does I’ll lose you in the fire. - Xander
Fucking angels. - Seth I never thought I'd agree with him on anything.

Straight up, I disliked the ending. Too predictable and almost nonsensical in its execution. Look I'm aware I'm reading a romance novel but seriously sometimes the best action is to go with the setup and let the cards fall where they may. Death comes for us all.

I did enjoy Vee's moments with the boys, Joss's dominance, Xander's vulnerability, Ewan's selflessness and Heath's respect. There was a lot of dialogue and moments harking back to the other books, which was appreciated. The rest of the book made me confused, tonally plot-wise. The whole thing. Some of that is down to the multi narration some is down to the book seemingly not knowing where it wants to go. I was disappointed with a missed plot point too, we don't know what Xander and Heath did to earn War and Death, why they ended up in purgatory. There were also quite a few editing errors. I wish I could give this 5 stars but I can't, honestly it's a struggle to give it 4.

I'm happy I finished this series at times it was a bit of a slog due to the publishing style, I'm not sure there was a need to publish it as 7 books 2 or 3 may have worked better. I still have Tricked, Sinister and Bright to go but they may wait a while. Despite the ending, I would recommend this to paranormal romance lovers. This doesn't come across as hardcore as some of the reverse harems I've read, there is more a focus on Choas, the Pony Boys and Vee with her powers. It is a fun series

I'm late to get this review up, but not because I read it late, I totally swallowed this book down in one sitting, and back when ARC's were out, I absolutely had to know how it would all end. But this book definitely needed it's processing time. So much concluded and finished up, and I'd been waiting to see how the 'big showdown' would actually go down.

Well, if you have read the 6 novella's prior to Reckoning, which you definitely need to. You will know that each book before this one was building up to something huge, and it certainly all went down in this final instalment. I wasn't disappointed at all, I expected drama, shock and answers and I got it all. In abundance.

We finally get answers on so many big topics. Vee's purpose and history, the Horsemen's history, what will become of Chaos, who will survive the s*** storm, and what becomes of them all. All perfectly answered and wrapped up, and of course it wouldn't be complete without the crazy hot horsemen/Vee action, the kind that doesn't involve weapons. At least I don't think it does.

What I love about LJ Swallow's stories, no matter what they are about, is how perfectly she concludes everything. She always gives a feel good, satisfaction to the closing chapter, and I feel like I'm ready to start something new.

Be prepared for some gripping moments, you won't know whether you want to cry, scream, shout or clap. Probably all of them, as everything happens at a crazy, whirlwind speed. I know my emotions were thrown about throughout the book. I have no clue what I'll do now the Horsemen and Vee are finished. I loved following their story, and loved how it was split into novella size stories released close together. I have zero patience, so it was perfect for me. Now to wait for Syv's story!!

Massive 5 stars.

This book series is way too long. This is the seventh and final book of the "regular" series and each installment is pretty short (I think the first book is like 150 pages) but damn... it dragged. There were so many slow reveals, twists that weren't twists, over-acted drama, and under-done relationships. I was so bored.

A Dec 2018 I'm sick as shit read

I skipped to book 7 because I was DONE at book 3.

7 books about the same fuckers and Ms Swallow just wasn't that engaging. I've read better Four Horseman series - that are reverse harem - and I've not even finished that. THIS? I want to say take my review with caution cause this is more a serial than a series. So yeah.

Really fantastic end to the primary arc of the series ... I was just riveted as things came together, and the details were great.

And I'm so excited that there's more story to tell with Vee, Xander, Heath, Joss, and Ewan. I'm already into book 8, and looking forward to the next arc!

"Four dishevelled horsemen and the girl who no longer knows who she is."

It comes down to this: the four boys and Vee – just discovering who they are, and who created them.

And no book blurb from me here, just an absolute and thorough appreciation to LJ Swallow for her writing of this series. She has taken me back to my paranormal reading roots, albeit is a somewhat different genre! And, Reverse Harem to boot!

She has written the series to an eventful ending, and I couldn’t see how she was going to do that, until I saw a hint in the last words of Descent, “The book talks of Chaos, Truth and Order. But what about Love? Oh yeah. Love. That which their creators didn’t anticipate happening, and made an appearance in order to fix what the Four Horsemen and Vee had stuffed up.

It is in this last book that I’ll say LJ Swallow has written sex scenes throughout the series, between Vee and each of the Horsemen as special and yet as individual as the personality of each man. The feelings of love and yep, even romance from the angry and amped up Xander, between her and each of them reflects the differing and meaningful relationship she has with The Four Horsemen.

I was entirely hooked, and absolutely loved it. The ending was high in tension and awesome. Now what am I going to read? Thankfully for me, and my fellow reading enthusiasts, LJ Swallow has us covered, and I have something to look forward to. If I could give more than a miserable 5 Stars out of 5 stars, I would. OMG – Highly recommended.

Reckoning is the final book in the Four Horsemen series. I have followed this from the start. I am so sad to see this series end. But on the other hand I have exactly what I wanted out the series, a good memorable read with a HEA. It has been a long haul for Vee and her guys. Vee has come a long way on her journey. She has grown into her role and the part she has to play. The guys have grown over the course of the series as well. Some were welcoming to Vee and a few had to be convinced. With each installment their bonds grew, and it was a satisfying to see what they became. I don't want to give much away, just that there is alot of action, and things happening. I wouldn't start reading until you had a good amount of time to kill, once I started reading I did not want to stop. Seth or Chaos, was a good bad guy always one step ahead of them it seemed. Overall The Four Horsemen was a great RH series that has a satisfying ending. I would recommend this series for any paranormal RH fan. LJ is working on a next series, one from the Four Horsemen world. You remember Syv, she will be the lead. I cannot wait for this one!

** 1.5 stars **

I can't believe I survived.

Seven books/novellas of this, so close to DNF-ing so many times. Perhaps I would've been spared some madness had I just chosen to DNF, but here I am. Ready to pour out my feelings to like the one person who reads my reviews (you know who you are c;).

I'm going to start this review by saying that I didn't dislike everything. Frankly, there were quite a few moments that I enjoyed, like the horsemen not knowing stuff about the human world because they'd interacted with it so little in the past. Heath and Joss were the ones most aware because they had an interest, whereas Ewan and Xander had zero social skills with humans. They were so focused on their jobs that they forgot to learn more about the people they were protecting, though I suppose they never imagined being able to partake in that life and society. I also liked a lot of the dynamics between the guys throughout the series, like how Xander and Heath interacted as brothers and how Joss was always the one to try to calm things down between the others when fights broke out. Xander was probably my favorite out of the four, along with Joss, because they felt the most fleshed out. Heath was kinda dull, and Ewan a bit too brooding for my taste (though I really liked him in the second and third books). So there wasn't just negative things, though I'm afraid the negative might outweigh the positive. Also I will likely bring up things from the other books, so this will kind of be a review of the series as a whole with a little more focus on this book in particular.

So. Here we go.

I know this was meant to be a sort of reverse harem and I've got to say I like the parts where they all hang out without jealousy. Polyamory isn't really my thing, but it didn't seem to be that badly done in this series. They found a way to have a relationship with each other and each guy had his thing with Vee. However, I really disliked how much focus there was on the sex and attraction. They could be in the most serious scene and suddenly someone became horny or internally commented on another's appearance. I'm pretty sure Heath's final thought was "dat ass." The entire thing about transferring powers through sex was a bit...gross. There are other ways to establish connections to other people, it doesn't have to be through sexual intimacy. It became a bit too much like an erotica. I think there was more variety in the terms used for sex and genitals than anything else in the entire series. It usually doesn't bother me a lot, as long as the sex doesn't steal the spotlight, but it really did here. Everything else seemed to be an excuse to write and publish porn. Not a fan of it.

So why did I continue reading? Well, I was interested in the fantasy and supernatural aspects. I wanted to learn more about the story behind the four horsemen and the truth (haha) behind Vee. I was hoping that it'd be something different, since the story behind the different creatures in the world (like demons, vampires, etc) was that there were portals that led into other realms. So I thought perhaps the four horsemen were employed by some sort of overseer, or some sort of supernatural creature that didn't want anything else coming. What I got was angels versus demons. The angels appeared in the last book and suddenly there's a gate to hell beneath the guys' house. Also Lucifer may have gotten out?? There was some mention of God and comparing him to Chaos and Order as well, and it was very weirdly done. I'm not religious, but the way the entire thing was handled felt kinda iffy to me if I'm to be honest. It became a bit too sudden when it was first mentioned in book five and then only elaborated on in the last one, and so it didn't feel well handled. It's the same reason I've gotten turned off with the show Lucifer, as well as Supernatural. It became too much and not well handled. I'm gonna try not to speak too much about this because I already have (whoops), but yeah it started to make even me uncomfortable at one point. I'd rather they'd fought Ripley, a major demon, to keep the portal to his realm from being opened or something, It'd still be large scale, but not Chaos-sized (whatever that means, since he was apparently meant to have created the universe??)

Speaking of Chaos, Seth was one weird dude. I kinda guessed something was wrong with him the minute Casey was killed, but oh boy did it feel ridiculous when became the mega villain. It almost felt ridiculous how Big and Bad he was meant to be, and then he was only present for like 20-40% of the book, even less in Descent (6th). They said they were going to look for him, yet never really did. He was too big of a villain, I think, which made the author probably think it was necessary to bring in angels (which turned out to be bad anyway, so I guess that was utterly pointless except to do infodump and create some kind of sinkhole for the final fight). Like how are you meant to fight a being that supposedly created the universe. Wouldn't the universe collapse?? Ah, questions that will likely never be answered, partially because I am not picking up Bright (the 8th and start of a like a sequel series I think?). At least not for another decade.

Also I think Chaos became some sort of giant in the final fight, which reminded me of the final fight in the second season of Legend of Korra. But anyhow.

Overall, the series felt like a fetch quest. They were looking for this, then that, and on it went. It often felt like nothing was happening (except sex and horniness), which made the books tedious and drawn out. The text would often repeat itself too, with the POV mentioning things several times except with slightly different wording.

Not gonna lie, Xander saying "Why? We got plenty of trees in the garden" when Vee wanted a Christmas tree was really cute so that's why I'm giving 1.5 stars instead of just 1.

Gasp, do you hear that?
There, in the distance.
It's me yelling "Bitches I'm out!"

Yes, I’m using the same review over and over; my thoughts haven’t changed.

First off, eyyy, another author going by LJ; high five! *gives myself the high five*

Good start, I suppose; it could’ve been worse. The characters were decent enough, not that terrible; that may change in the future, though. I could, however, do without all the guys instantly liking the main girl, though; it made me think of Ouran High for a moment.

For this last and longest book of the main series (the author plans to write some later, special installments to show what the Pony Boys and Vee are up to) I liked having some last romantic scenes between each couple, and seeing the long battle finally come to a climax, with some interesting revelations about both the good guys and the bad, and new characters to help wrap things up.

I've read this series from the beginning (and you must read in order) and I always preferred the romantic side than the urban fantasy side, which to me ended up being the more prevalent part of the series and thus detracted from my overall interest in the series. Although I still enjoyed and kept reading the series to see how the relationships would evolve I became increasingly confused by the mystery and mythology as the series went on. It almost felt like there were things going on off-page that I didn't know about that led to discoveries or suspicions and statements or feelings that I didn't follow the reasoning for. Now, I am admittedly not good with subtleties and need things spelled out a little more sometimes so this can account for some of that perhaps. I definitely would have enjoyed the series more if the focus was on the interpersonal relationships but if you are a fan of urban fantasy I would say read the first book (or a sample of) to see if it seems like your cup of tea. For me the overall series ended up being an "It's ok" rating which I just realized was a 2 star on Goodreads and a 3 star on Amazon. Since I rated the other books in this series off of Amazon's scale I will go with a 3 here to be consistent.

This series was lacking, well it feels like everything. Likability of characters, strong storytelling skills, twists or turns.

Even the fact that this book was a reverse harem was done wrong, even in the end it’s like she had individual relationships with the guys which left them divided and and on the outside rather then them actually coming together as the 5 to be unstoppable.

They were very immature when it came to being in a harem too, I’ve read lots of RH books but this one was brutal.

They we’re always lying or not being fully honest with each other which lead to chaos being about to come between them. And the guys were around for years but never thought to ask where they came from or tried to figure things out?

Even though the guys are the 4 deadly horseman and their characters are apparently a part of who they are you would hope with V joining them they would of matured a bit, but nope they were always the joke of the fae, demons and angels that they really live up to their names & aren’t to smart.

Ah don’t even get me started on all those cool magical creatures and worlds there was so much potential for a really great story but there was absolutely nothing special about any of them. This series was a waste of my time!

What an absolutely captivating and amazing series that Lisa has written. This whole series has just kept the reader begging for more and more. This book book sure does not disappoint with the action and emotion and it really keeps the reading captivated from page one to the end. We really get to see Vee come into herself in this book, she knows her power and she is confident and she knows what she must do. Then the guys...throughout the whole series they have kept themselves from from humanity but as their love for Vee grows we see them becoming s bit more human, really becoming who they need to be in order to save humanity and to be there for Vee. Another great thing about this book are the supporting characters, they bring s new depth to the story and it will be great to see some of them in s spin off series!! This series has truely amazed and Lisa is a fantastic author who writes a compelling and classy story. Sad to see it end but so happy to see how they all are at the end.

Ok

I'll be honest that I didn't really understand what exactly was happening in that finale with Chaos. But, it really doesn't matter. My connection to the characters was basically gone until that finale. In the finale the characters seem to come together with their love for Vee. But until that point it seemed like they were in a strange love/hate relationship. They really aren't a harem. Yes, one girl with 4 guys. But none of them do anything together so it's more like one girl with multiple lovers. I started out liking the series. But I lost interest as the story progressed. The plot moved slowly. There was very little romance. There were no steamy scenes with more than Vee and one guy. There was very little character growth or relationship progression. There was too much conflict between Vee and her harem. The books were really short. All in all, I guess it's an ok read. Definitely not great. I'm actually glad it's over.

OMG! This book was definitely worth the wait!
The ending is finally here, and I was so excited to read how the Four Horsemen would defeat Chaos. Yet, I’m so sad that their story is over. Good news, the author isn’t ending the Four Horsemen! Yeah! We are going to get more stories of Vee and the guys! Yeah!
The final battle is finally here, and new foes and new allies come into play. But are the allies actually allies? It’s never easy when it comes to The Horsemen. Plus, the prophecy story is not the whole story of Vee and the guys. Can they win in the end? Will they all live through the final battle?
The final word? Love. Love can conquer all.
I finished this book in two days and it only took that long because no matter the tension and excitement of the book, 2am came about and my body shut down.

The entire series had a plot that was engaging enough to make me finish it, but there were so many issues that I had, I could only rate this 3 stars. I got so sick and tired of the constant conflict between all of the main characters, as i found it excessive. I understand there needed to be a lot, but there was just too much. I found their drama to be so annoying that i couldn't see how they maintained a friendship or relationship. Other than the sex. I thought the villains were easily identifiable, like Seth was hugely obvious.

The storyline about who she actually was, the roles they played, the fantasy element, those things were enjoyable. The sex scenes were also hot. These elements kept me reading until the end, mostly the desire to know how things resolved. But this could have been cleaned up a lot and made into a trilogy.

A tense, emotional read!

The book talks about Truth, Chaos and Order...
But what about Love?

Chaos is among them. The Horsemen are a few steps behind. Who will win the war?

Holy gods! Was this an intense finale - so much tension, mistrust and emotion. Such an emotionally charged read that will ensure your eyes never stray from the words on the page/on your Kindle. Amazing.

Oh wow! What an emotional ending/last few chapters. Jesus, I was in no way prepared for that. Now, I am going to collapse because my heart is beating way too fast - I need to calm down after that ride!

Full of the Horsemen, trust, gods, Chaos, Order, goddess, evil, portals, war, battles, demons, angels and love.

Perfect for readers of urban fantasy reverse harem romances.

Amazing series and terrific ending!!! Must read series!
I absolutely loved Reckoning!!! Wow! What a twist at the end! The angels, Chaos, Ripley, Syv and Order!!! It was a crazy ride, but so worth it!! Vee, Ewan, Xander, Heath, and Joss saved the world and each other! I loved how Heath revived them all and himself, to pull Vee back, and join with Xander and Vee to destroy Chaos! It was awesome to see the story end with Heath after beginning with him as well! It was a beautiful ending, but a little bittersweet! I can’t wait to see where else their journey goes and how they continue their love story! Thank you to LJ Swallow for writing the first horsemen reverse harem story that I loved and will always love! I’ll be anxiously awaiting the upcoming Christmas novella and Syv’s book!

This is the final book in The Four Horseman series by LJ Swallow.

LJ Swallow is an excellent story teller. I love this series, it is a great read. The characters are wonderful, Heath, Xander, Ewan and Joss are the four horseman. Their fifth is Verity and she has taught them to love and care about her and the world.

Verity is still coming to grips with the power she holds and how to use it. The horseman are trying to understand Verity’s powers and how to save her from death.

LJ weaves a story that is beautifully written, it takes us through the highs and the lows of each of their emotions as they wait for the final confrontation with the god Chaos.

This series is terrific from book one and I total recommend that you take a chance on LJ Swallow’s The Four Horseman Series.

Bit disappointed in the conclusion of this series. I don't feel like everything was explained away and there were a few too many plot holes til we got to the final pages.

Seth is just a ridiculous villain. I don't feel he brings any kind of proper menace to the horsemen and the way the final battle went down was more of a letdown than anything. There were so many inconsistencies throughout and i found myself making a note of many.

I would have liked a better ending but it was ok for a quick series read. I'm excited to read syv's series as i found her character intriguing so i shall probably move onto that once all the books are released.

Edge of my seat.

What a way to end a series! L
J Swallow did good!

Vee finally shows us what she is made of. I was biting my nails in parts, shouting at some of the characters in other parts and crying with shock and disbelief in some. We follow the story of the four horsemen and their fifth, Truth. They are all struggling with the fact that Vee could die but that doesn't deter their need for answers. What a showdown although Seth childishness bordered on annoying yet I found myself chuckle at one point.

Well written characters and explosive scenes.

Loved it, loved it, loved it!!

Oh WOW!!! I was pulled in from the beginning! Fabulous paranormal/fantasy world, I absolutely love this series of books, the action starts slowly and builds, The characters are well defined early on and blossom throughout the series, you can feel the tension building between the main characters early in the series which develop wonderfully as each book progresses. Very well written storey. There are no cliff hangers as such but each book always leaves you wanting more so be warned though once you start reading this series you won’t be able to put the books down so be prepared for some binge reading.

Oh oh oh wow! The last book in the four horsemen series and it is epic! I was confused and stumped as Vee and her boys try to work out what is going on, they have no idea who to trust and what is going to go down, but there are twists and turns nd things are not as they seem

A well written thrilling series finale, it all ones to an end with a massive bang ! It is full of excitement and drama along with steam and changing relationships, I was pulled completely into the story, so gripped that the world could have ended and I would not have noticed - totally awesome!!!

So hears the deal - it's a good book and very suitable ending to the series. However I nearly put the down within the first 15 - 20% because it was just dull and I kept thinking, I am just so over this. Then we had the obligatory (although hot) bonkfest with each of the guys before we got down to some action.

Over all this has been a good series but the books have been a bit up and down in terms of quality and the more RH I read, even with the better series, in general the less I want to read it.

I loved this series

I like this author's writing and have enjoyed a number of her books before this series. These books are really good too. I love the main characters and the ones we see less of. I like that it feels authentically British. I like the twists.

This book takes the series to a satisfying conclusion and although there is no cliffhanger, there are still threads that are not tied up. There are things I still want to know about some of the supporting cast. I like that.

A great ending to what has been an enjoyable series for me. It had the action it had the emotions but it also had closure for what we needed. Whilst I'm happy with how it ended for Vee and her four horsemen, I don't think this will be the last we'll see of them. I know that Syv will be getting her own story (am really looking forward to reading that one!) and I'm sure they'll be popping up there. I've really enjoyed this series and am sad to see it go but am glad I read them all as I thought the story line was creative and different.

I really enjoyed this series. It was an easy read that kept my interest, and it's always nice to be a girl in the center of 4 yummy guys who collectively make the perfect man. As for an RH I preferred it over others because although she was with each of them, those intimate parts were kept separate. Some reverse harem books that have 4 guys and 1 girl who participate in one big orgy isn't as much of in interest to me because I am constantly distracted by thinking about how difficult it would be, not to mention exhausting!

I absolutely adored this entire series! I still have to read the two novellas but the story line and characters in this were amazing. The character growth was so good. I had all the feels reading these and seriously was almost in tears toward the end of this! I knew the guys couldn't really be dead for good but it still hurt as much as before you knew they could come back! And I love that these 5 were able to overcome everything with their love for each other. I'm defiently bummed to be done this series but couldn't have planned a better ending for them all!
