Frank Sinclair believes only in the visceral, the real, what he can touch and taste. After all, his mother left him when he was five years old, so how can love exist? His next sexual conquest is what makes his world go around, not romance and happily ever after. The hot guy he sees working along the highway in an orange jumpsuit fuels his bad-boy fantasies. Coincidentally, the guy shows up at the gas station across the street from his apartment building, and you can bet he’s going to take his shot.

Roy Ingalls is his bad boy parolee in orange, and he’s ready and oh-so-willing to be Frank’s next conquest. But Roy isn’t quite the bad boy he seems—deep down he’s sweet, naïve… and the most intoxicating man Frank has ever met.

The sex is the best of their lives, but can a man who mistrusts love and another who isn’t ready to admit he’s actually gay ever move beyond friends with benefits?

B.G. Thomas lives in Kansas City with his husband for nearly fifteen years and was legally married in 2014. Ehey have a fabulous little dog, Sarah Jane. He sees his wonderful daughter just often enough to miss her when she isn't there! He has a romantic soul and is extraordinarily lucky to have many friends.

He loves science fiction & fantasy, horror, romance and more, has gone to SF&F conventions his entire adult life, and been lucky enough to meet many of his favorite writers. He is a “Star Trek” and Joss Whedon fan from way back!

He has written all his life, it is where he finds his joy. In the 90’s, he wrote for gay magazines, but stopped because they wanted him to cut out story and romance, and write only sex.

Then through a few friends, he discovered the growing market of M/M Romance and was thrilled beyond words. FINALLY, a way to write the stories he always wanted to write. Adventure, romantic comedy, science fiction, and more, but with gay characters. And he wouldn't have to fade to black! People wanted to read the erotic as well. Plot and sex! HURRAY!

B.G. Thomas very much believes in The Law of Attraction and that "thoughts become things." A lot of things all started happening at once. He heard the words, "Leap, and the net will appear," and something re-kindled inside. He sent out a story and was thrilled when it was almost immediately accepted.

He believes that we are divine expressions of the Universe, each and everyone. "It is never too late!,” he states. “Pursue your dreams! They will come true!"

4.5 stars, rounded up because of the feelz I had while reading.

I'm going to first talk about the book, the story, the two MCs, and the writing. The author's typical writing style is within the pages, and its familiarity (I have read almost all of this author's books) was soothing. I also liked the plot of two very different people meeting and finding each other, finding what they needed from each other, forging a path together that will surely lead them to their happy ever after. and experiencing personal growth. Both Frank and Roy are flawed and complex, both keep others at arm's length - Frank because of what he was taught by his father Glen (more on him soon), and Roy because of shame and fear. Because he was in jail, and because he's only recently figured out that he might be gay.

I liked Harry and Cody, and Roy's grandmother as supporting characters, who all brought something the the table, and in some instances served as catalysts to further the plot. While we don't find out a lot about Harry and Cody in this book, there are some revelations about Roy's granny that really moved the plot forward.

I loved how the romance unfolded, how Frank was blindsided by his feelings for Roy, how he tried to deny them, and how he failed. I loved how Roy began questioning his sexuality, and how his reflections of his actions in the past helped him get a clearer picture and overcome his fear. Obviously, there's angst in this book, as the two men approach the budding relationship from two very different angles, and neither is certain early on that a pursuit of the relationship is advisable or desirable. There are missteps, there is fear, there is shame, and there is anger. But ultimately, this book is about two very different men falling and being in love, perhaps for the very first time in their lives. Their path to real love was a bit rough and had a few sharp turns, but they stayed the course.

And now, let's talk about Glen, Frank's father. Massive mother bear rant ahead. You'll want to skip to the end if that sort of thing bothers you. Since it's also slighly spoilerish, there be some tags around some of it.

Glen made me ragey. Here we have a man who decided to do a huge fuck-you to his ex-wife, the mother of his child, and basically city-hopped with their son from age 5 until Frank had enough of the nomadic lifestyle and forged his own path in KC. Sure, Frank's life with Glen wasn't entirely horrible, and he sure got to see some awesome places, but Glen's endless womanizing and the constant moving, really screwed with Frank's sense of self, knowing his place in the world, and his views on love and finding a life partner. I was already pissed at Glen fairly early on, when I found out about the constant moving and introducing woman after woman into the life of his impressionable son and seeming to be PROUD of that shit, but when the real truth comes out - well, that took the fucking cake. My status update at that point, around 60% or so (I wasn't keeping track, really, because I was so ANGRY) was fueled by RAGE and TEARS. Fuck you, Glen. You narcissistic, sociopathic, selfish fucking asshole.

So. There you have it. Any book that can bring out such strong emotions - it certainly deserves to have its rating rounded up. I also want to make clear that while I wanted to punch Glen on more than one occasion (and I'm not a violent person at all), I also very much appreciated how the author chose to finalize things for this character's involvement in Frank's life. Justice in this case was very sweet indeed.

As always, the author's writing style is distinctive, which may not work for everyone, but it certainly works for me.

I don't usually comment on covers. I'm not enamored with this one, but please don't let that turn you off giving this book a chance. What's behind the cover is worth your time.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.25 stars

I quite liked Orange. What’s not to like? A naïve man who’s just out of jail, a man slut you just know will be reformed, a little angst, dreadful families. It’s a veritable gold mine. The story begins with a bang and takes off at breakneck speed and I was along for the ride.

Frank and Roy were good characters and they were written well. I do have to confess, I didn’t care for Frank at the beginning at all. I didn’t like his attitude toward relationships (there is a reason, of course). He was jaded and that most certainly came through in spades, but he grew on me. Roy, on the other hand, was sweet and confused. Is he gay? Is he straight? Is he somewhere in the middle of the Kinsey scale? He’d been taken advantage of by a former girlfriend and he paid for that mistake. I immediately felt sorry for him, and at least in the first few chapters, I thought he was too good for Frank.

Frank is the main character that I thought I wouldn't like. He is pretty full of himself, though he says he isn't conceited. He only does one night stands or a .f...buddy. First sign the other man is getting too close he sends them packing. He was brought up that everyone leaves you. His dad was a Casanova and he wasn't taught any better. he was just following in his father's footsteps. Love em and leave em was his Motto. BUT, once I read about his dad and why he had the views he had...I liked Frank. By the end of the story, I was in love with him. Roy, I fell for right away. probably from the first description of him on the roadside. that was quite hot.
I thought this story was pretty unique and had some unusual characters. I did missed the humor that usually is in B.G. Thomas stories but I still loved it.

The story starts out with quite a bit of sex and I felt some stuff was a bit repetitive, whole lines or even paragraphs, But I liked the story enough to not let it bother me. There are lots of fun quirky characters and a few shocking surprises. I hope to see Wilbur's story as well as Roys friend from jail.
If you like stories of finding yourself, coming out, woodworking, and some hot man-sex this is for you.

First off, the cover was horrible, probably want to update to not look so creepy.

I really went into this book thinking it was going to be really good and it fell really flat for me. I hate a lot of inner monologue, I need dialogue with my characters. I found myself skimming the book and really wishing it was only a 100 page book instead of just over 300. I couldn't connect to Frank and Roy because there wasn't much dialogue and like I said, I need that to connect and fall in love with the main characters. I seem to be in the minority with my opinions so I am sure everyone else will love Frank and Roy's story.

Between Frank and Roy, the two very different main characters of this sweet, delightful, and very sexy story, I was entertained, in suspense about how they’d make things work, and utterly charmed. While both men are in their midtwenties, it is only when they meet that they begin to come into their own. Physical attraction and chemistry gets them started, but they soon realize there may be more between them than either wants to admit – for very different reasons.

This was a sweet quick read. Not my favorite of BG Thomas but still a nice contemporary romance. Sort of a mixed coming out/gay for you romance. No angst or drama. I liked both Roy and Frank. There was a little to much endless, internal thought process and dialog. Not enough actual page time between MC's for this to be a great romance.
Characters were nice, but not that memorable. Even with all the internal character development, both guys felt a little flat. Again a nice quick read for a rainy day.

I really enjoyed this. The entire book is about the growth of both MC's, both as a couple and individually. The sex is raw and off-the-charts hot.

The only reason that I didn't give this five stars is because I think it was a bit longer than it needed to be. There were some slow periods mixed in where I found myself skimming a bit.

I think this was only my second BG Thomas, so I will definitely be checking out more of his work!!

A beautiful story about Frank and Roy, and their path to their own HEA. Frank is sure that love is but an illusion. His mom left him when he was little, and his dad was a serial womaniser who claim to love women so much he can't have only one, but in reality he disrespects them and only want to have sex with them. Frank is afraid he is like his dad, and that he will never find love, because it doesn't exist. So he also lives for meaningless sexual encounters, and is deeply unhappy for it. Roy looks like a bad boy, but really is not. He is also not gay. Or is he? So a man who doesn't love, meets a man who doesn't love men and the result is a beautiful love story that really touched my heart. B.G. Thomas is a new author to me, but I love his books, and this one is also a gem.
