It's election time at Hillridge Junior High! But when the only candidates for school president are way-too-popular (and way-too-snobby) cheerleader Claire Miller and geek-boy Larry Tudgeman, Lizzie's friends convince her to run for office. But as Lizzie's popularity skyrockets, so does her ego. Can Lizzie become Hillridge's new prez without ditching her friends? Plus, Mr. Dig helps the kids prepare for an academic competition . . . where they'll be facing Kate, Claire, and Larry!
At Hillridge Junior High it is now time to vote for the class president! Lizzie and her two friends want not just the popular kids to be the people who win everything, and get anything they want. They want to see a change. Since it is now time for students to vote for class president, her friends think that she should give it a try to go for class president. So, she tries, and is now in a battle between Kate who is a cheerleader, and Larry Tudgeman who is eating worms to get votes. Gross! Will she win, or will she loose to being class president.
As a longtime Lizzie McGuire fan, it was fun to relive the early 2000s nostalgia through this book. The story captures the lighthearted, quirky charm of the show, making it an enjoyable trip down memory lane. However, the plot was pretty predictable, and the writing felt a bit simplistic—even for a middle-grade book. While it’s a fun read for fans of the series, it doesn’t offer much beyond the nostalgia factor. A cute addition to the Lizzie McGuire collection, but not a must-read.
Two separate episodes captured in this book . The first half being the election and the second half being the kids entering a trivia quiz and Mr. Dig is their tutor. I always liked Mr. Digg as he reminds me of some of the teachers at my school who actually made an impact on your life rather than just learning textbook stuff.
I didn’t realize this was just a novelization of the presidential campaign and the academic contest episodes. Since I had literally just watched those (I’m watching Lizzie McGuire while working out, haha) this was boring and repetitive for me.
The first story is about Lizzie running for class president against a boy who agrees to swallow worms for votes, and a cheerleader. At first Miranda and Gordo are strongly behind her, but gradually the political aspect of trying to please different groups of people causes Lizzie to go overboard to the point where she alienates both Miranda and Gordo.
She becomes too much of a politician and too little of a friend. A fairly cute story. In the second story, Gordo is complaining that he's under a lot of pressure with all his studies, but Miranda and Lizzie want him to enter a contest which could get all three of them a trip to Miami.
The second story is really a commentary on education, looking at two different approaches. One is the rote memorization of dates, names, places, etc, and the other is an approach which emphasizes more an examination of culture and practical application of learning. The rote memorization approach technically wins (since Lizzie's team loses), but the winning does not automatically lead to happiness.
Lizzie for President by Alice Alfonsi is a very interesting book. It is about Lizzie a girl not popular going for school president against two other girls very popular in school and a boy who is eating earthworms every vote he gets. She goes against them with the encouragement of Gordo and Miranda her friends. She loses the election and the earthworm eating candidate wins. Then she tries for the Fact-Athlon against the same people which the prize is going to Miami. Her group studies hard but loses because the answers were all exact time, date, place, name and stuff but she studied about how they will feel or some opinions. But the people who went to Miami became a lobster sun burnt really a lot and bitten by sea flees.
I recommend this book to everyone because the cover looks girly or something like that but in the book it is really exciting and fun. It is a very easy and fast reading book so it might be great for people learning english too!
The message sent was that no matter how popular you are you shouldn't leave your old friends behind; especially if they are the ones who helped you become popular. Don't always think you're better than someone else; and don't be judgemental.
Lizzie is a normal girl. She wants tobe class president because she doesn't want popular girls to win. Her best friends helped her a lot and they get many votes. But Lizzie joined cool drama group and she didn't care about them.
It is a very cool book for me to read. I love the other books to but, this one has something different about it and all the other books have that 2!!!!!
