Lizzie is sure her "Rock and Roll" float idea will be the winner at the Christmas Parade. She just needs a little help. But everyone has deserted her to help some old guy. Lizzie's furious. Is she forgetting the true meaning of Christmas? Plus, Lizzie makes a Christmas wish to meet pop star Aaron Carter.
The episodes that inspired this book were never my favorites, but this novelization does a good job of translating them from the screen to the page. Also, it was hilarious to me that Aaron Carter is referred to as Zander Knight in this book; was his name copyrighted or something?
EDIT: The last episode adapted in this book--that is, the one all about Aaron Carter--nearly prevented me from being a fan of Lizzie McGuire or even the Disney Channel. One day in the summer of 2002, they showed that episode on The Wonderful World of Disney, and followed it up with the Even Stevens one that was about BBMak. I didn't listen to mainstream music back then--I was a proud fan of dc Talk (both together and apart,) Audio Adrenaline, and ApologetiX...and ONLY them!--so, when I saw those two episodes, I thought: Is that kind of music all these Mouse network sitcoms are about? Some months later, I saw other episodes that had nothing to do with such musical acts that made me a big-time fan of the Disney Channel, as anyone who knew me back in high school knows all too well. The other Lizzie episode mentioned here isn't among my favorites either--I never have been a big Steven Tyler fan, especially after the way he talked to the female contestants during his stint on American Idol, though I'll admit Aerosmith does have some great songs--but, it's still great fun.
Lizzie has a competition in her school where each student will make a float and the judges will decide which one is the best float. And since Lizzie was in this competition, Kate decided to compete. Gordo was helping Lizzie on the float they were going to make. Kate came in with some mens that were really good at making float. Lizzie thought it wasn't fair to ask some people to make some your float. Lizzie was thinking what they should name there float. Lizzie said she would name it Rock N Roll float. Kate started laughing when Lizzie told the floats name. Lizzie had a santa came in there school. And the santa is fake which everyone knows that. In their school they have to donate things to santa. And so Lizzie thought of giving away her brother Matt annoying things away. Lizzie rated the santa four stars. Each year Gordo and Lizzie rate santa. There was this elf with the santa. The elf waas very kind and a peacefull person. When Lizzie arrived at her house she saw the elf. When she ask her mom and dad why the elf was here. Lizzie's mom said that the factory of the elf had water problem. Matt and Lizzies parents went to the elfs factory to help the elf. Lizzie was like people where are you going you guys need to help me. So Gordo said that he would help Lizzie with the float. All of the sudden Gordo change his mind and he goes with Matt and Lizzie's parents. Lizzie went to her school to work on her float and as much as she tried making her float look good she failed to make it look good. To know more you have to read Lizzie Mcquire"A very Lizzie Christmas".
As with the other novels, this one has two stories.
The first story is about Lizzie trying to get a float for a Christmas parade ready. She hopes to win the prize, which is a skiing trip to Aspen. Kate, of course, is in the contest and has spent thousands of dollars on her float and has even hired helpers.
A strange man, supposedly from an elder-care facility, appears and is likable, but before long has Lizzie's parents and her friends helping him restore the plumbing at the facility rather than helping her with her float. Lizzie goes through an abridged Christmas Carol set of dreams and has to decide whether her float is more important than helping old people in need.
The second story is about Lizzie and her friends wanting to be involved in the taping of a video for a rock star. It's a rather funny story, especially once Lizzie, Miranda and Gordo get inside the taping area and end up being chased by a security guard. Even her parents show up and get thrown in the brig (figuratively, of course.) A very funny story.
I gave this book four stars because it was good but not great, I love how in this book Lizzie actually acts and thinks like a real teenager would, for example, in the cheesy books where you know whats going to happen, you can never really tell what Lizzie is going to do next. I like Lizzie and Gordo's realtionship in this story and how the float making brings them closer together when you know that they like eachother. How ever in this book I did not like; how they built a rock 'n roll float, that was something that wasnt too realistic because I know no teenage girls that like that type of music, most of us like hip-hop and pop music. In the end it ends up that Lizzies christmas wish does come true, and she's in the music video with Aaron Carter which happens to be a hip-hop song :) Lizzie finally realizes that she need to not worry about the float and help out her parents with the old man at christmas time and remeber what christmas is truley about.
It was pretty awesome book recommended for children. It's quite like the series but you make your own episode in your head. Lizzies school has a competition to win whoever makes the best float for the Christmas parade but an elf has crossed her way and stopped her from getting help from her family and friends. But she learns to help the elves and it turned out to be perfect for her.
I got this book from my school when we were visiting a bookstore, so I was kinda forced to read this, but at last I thought this book was quite good. I just didn't like how the story became so flat, no real surprise to expect.
This book very well writen and the fact that it was about Chirstmas and that this book got recomended to me a few days before Chirstmas and that i finished it on Chirstmas was very cool!
Found this in a free little library and I had to read it for pure nostalgia. It did not disappoint. It’s basically the Christmas Nick Carter episode. So fun
This book will always get 4 stars from me solely on the “Zander Knight” (Aaron Carter) episode! I still remember coming home from school in 3rd grade, turning my TV on, and watching this episode. It was my FAVORITE!
Lizzie MaGuire was my favorite show Growing Up I loved all the books so I was reading this one for fun never read it as an adult only as a teen but still one of my favorite books as an adult
not as into this one as the previous few. wondering why in the second part, the aaron carter christmas episode, aaron’s name is changed to zander knight, like, were they not allowed to use his name for some reason? (also thinking of that episode makes me incredibly sad, due to aaron’s recent death.) and i totally forgot until the end of the first part, that it’s the steven tyler christmas episode lmao
(novelizations of 2x20 “xtreme xmas” and 1x07 “aaron carter’s coming to town”)
