Someone has a crush on Lizzie -- Larry Tudgeman, the biggest geek in the universe. When he asks her out, Lizzie says no automatically, and she doesn't feel bad about it. Okay, maybe she does feel about it! But if she goes out with him, she'll be branded a nerd for life. Then again, if she doesn't go out with him, she might be missing out on something special...Plus, Lizzie gets assigned to do a school project with her mortal enemy, Kate Sanders. Can the two ex-best friends put aside their differences and complete the assignment?
Watching an episode of any Disney sitcom that aired from 2002 to 2006--Lizzie McGuire, Raven, Suite Life, Even Stevens, Phil of the Future, etc.--is kind of like looking at one of my high school yearbooks; it reminds me of days gone by. These days, it's difficult to imagine a world without Facebook, streaming television, high speed Internet, and smart phones...but, that was once the state of our planet. It's the same with reading a book based on one of those shows, especially Lizzie; I've never dated, even in high school, but, from the time I was a freshman until halfway through my junior year, I was known as the biggest Hilary Duff fan--or, at least, Disney Channel enthusiast--around. So, this novelization is a reminder of days gone by. While I know all was not well during my high school years--seriously, not only did I have issues back then that I have since outgrown, but I lost a sibling on my seventeenth birthday--I still appreciate this reminder of my younger days.
(This is a review of the audio edition, which was part of My Very First Way Cool Boxed Set! I purchased it from the Apple Books store.)
When Lizzie McGuire was on Disney Channel, guys everywhere--me included--had a thing for Hilary Duff...so, it's no surprise that school geek Larry Tudgeman would have a crush on Lizzie. It's been a while since I've watched the show, so, I had forgotten some of the details of the episodes adapted here. As usual, the narrator's voice was great, and the stories were fun.
However, the same problems I had with the first audiobook were present here: the awkward phrasing of the thoughts of Lizzie's animated alter ego...and bad episode choice. While neither of the two stories adapted here were among my least favorites from the show, the latter one--which is about Lizzie and Kate being forced to work on a school project together--had nothing to do with being Totally Crushed! They should have done one about Lizzie's infatuation with Ethan, or the one about the Scottish substitute teacher who made all the girls swoon. I would say that I hoped the next one would be better on that front...but, since I know it features the episode about bad girl Angel, which was so terrible Disney even omitted it from their "Volume One" DVD release of the show, I'd say there's not much chance of that.
4/5 stars - I actually LOVED the first part of this book where Lizzie goes on a date with Larry as well as testing her friendship with Kate. Cute read that brings all the 2000s nostalgia back!
i think i’m gonna keep going with this series because while i don’t predict any five stars or anything, it’s just a fun, nostalgic time revisiting these characters.
(novelizations of 1x26 “scarlett larry” and 1x28 “lizzie and kate’s excellent adventure”)
This was so fun to read, it was just like watching the show and made me realize how much I miss old Disney :( There were two cute short stories (i think they were just novelized versions of an episode) but I really enjoyed them and they made me smile!
Two stories in one, in the first Lizzie reluctantly goes on a date with Larry Tudgeman who she considers a "geek" but learns a sharp lesson that good people come in all forms and finds out she enjoyed Larry's company. In the second Lizzie and Kate her arch enemy has to work on a school project together, can they out their differences aside enough to complete it? Great kids stories with a moral to each tale.
Got to read this book for my master's degree. This is a funny and cute little book with good life lessons.
The only problem is that the book does not develop its characters or even present them, it just assumes that the reader has watched the TV-show. But still as a person that has newer watched Lizzie McGuire i got a pretty good idea who the character is and the different social dynamics in her world.
Another two story book. In the first part Larry has a crush on Lizzie and she decides to give him a chance and go out on a date. In the second part Lizzie is matched with Kate in a project and they have to put their differences aside to work together.
The first story is about how Larry Tudgeman, considered to be a major geek, develops a crush on Lizzie and how they actually end up going out on a date. Lizzie finds out he's not quite as bad as he seems, but he's still not quite what she's looking for in a boyfriend or as a status symbol.
In the second story, Lizzie and her once-best-friend Kate end up having to work together on a school project. They have to prepare a food from a foreign country and to do that they are going to have to actually work together.
This greatly upsets both. Kate's snobbish friends are quite nasty about it, of course, but when Kate and Lizzie actually end up at her house working together, they actually enjoy it. The problem is that peer pressure, basically, forces Kate to keep acting like she hates Lizzie when at school, which goes to show just how much peer pressure can affect how people behave.
today in this book lizzie was told that somebodie likes her. she wanted to kno who and so did her friends. but after she did find out she wished she didnt. she wished that because her chrusher was a super nerd. his name is larry tudgeman. he always wears the same shirt evreyday ever since second grade. when he asked lizzie out on a date she said no. then after she asked her mothar for advice she said that she should just give him a chance. then she did and wen they went out on the date he was very different and she thought he was cute.
this book is awesome !The best part was when lizzie did the project with Kate and they became friends agin instead of enemies. My favorite character is Lizzie and the character i didn't like is Larry (the boy who has a crush on Lizzie)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eğlenceli ve rahat okunabilecek hoş bir kitaptı. Kitap diziden uyarlanmış ve gerçekten tam bir Amerikan dizisi kıvamında. Bazen samimi bazen değil ama genel olarak beğendim.
