Plain Eriko Ichimura’s love and fantasies grow in equal measure as she gets to know smooth-spoken, handsome Akira Ohmi’s true bratty self. The reappearance of a middle school friend, Aoba-kun, lays bare an Omi-kun that excites and delights her. What’s more, Omi-kun tells her, "Let’s continue… after you pass your exam." Could this be foreshadowing of a prize to come?!

The possibility of her first kiss has never been closer for Eriko Ichimura, but overthinking and miscommunication between her and Akira Ohmi promises to thwart it even more than the bullying, jealous classmates who are ready to attack anyone who might become the sole object of Ohmi's affection. Throw in a sports day and the bandaging of minor scratches and there are tropes aplenty again, but for some reason the energy sparked with me this time. Looks like I'll have to pick up Vol. 4.

Okay so first of all: this volume was freaking funnyyyyyy. We finally have our first conflict! I'm glad that Ellie and Ohmi managed to resolve their problems. I feel like there is a storm brewing these two lovebirds. And who the hell is Kaname??? I hope they make another story focusing on Sara and her childhood friend because those two are so cute.

I WAS SCREAMING WHILE READING THIS VOLUME! JUST LET THEM KISS ALREADY!!!
I love it more and more with each volume! Omi-kun and Ellie-chan are just perfections! I love how for both of them it's their first relationship and they're not sure how to act they are super shy and cute. I love watching them get closer and closer and even though they are quite different they balance each other perfectly. Also what is up with that cliffhanger?!!! (please let it NOT be a love triangle 🙏)

"It's hard to know how to treasure someone. I'm sorry I'm not very good at it."
Aww.

I'm torn about wanting Eriko and Ohmi's relationship to move forward even a little bit, and enjoying it just as it is. Their mutual awkwardness is adorable, but I also feel like its staying in stasis for too long--without even a lips-on-lips kiss--might eventually make it feel unconvincingly juvenile for characters their age.

The supporting cast is starting to grow on me, though I can see things developing so that every single one of them is awkward at love in near-identical ways. Well, I suppose there's a reason that love comedies tend to wear thin for me after just a few volumes have gone by. The storytelling has to be pretty darn skillful for me not to get bored and frustrated. Still, I've chuckled quite a few times at Eriko's antics over the course of these first three volumes. They're the main draw of the series for me, and I'm fine with sticking around to see more of them.

In a side note at the end of this volume, author Fujimomo says "While drawing, I think of Ohmi as the manga's heroine." That was kind of enlightening, actually. A lot of shoujo manga is about the girl passively, chastely hanging around the boy she likes until he gets around to noticing her. Whereas Eriko flounders in and out of Ohmi's boundaries and makes a mess of things. :D While I don't see Eriko and Ohmi as being a 100% role reversal between the typical presentation of male and female characters in shoujo manga--Ohmi is a fairly typical "popular boy who isn't as 'open to all comers' as he seems to be" male lead, for example--it's refreshing to have Eriko's desires as a central force in the story. But the presentation is pretty innocent, despite its "older teen" rating, really!

The drooling cartoon heart that Eriko uses for her twitter avatar cracks me up every time. If I think about it, I'll take a photo of it and put it here.

One of the good things about this series, is that despite the differences that Omi-kun and Ellie do have, they really balance each other out. That’s also one of the reasons why I stay interested in this series.
I’m also very curious to see more of Sara-chan and her dynamic with her childhood friend, the boy that looks like a delinquent. I like how devoted the boy is to Sara-chan despite how adamant she claims to not like him.

Ellie's horniess is by far the best thing about this series. Let girls be horny damnit!!!

But for real this series works best when Ellie is focusing on herself and trying to feel out her feelings on her love. This volume gets a bit dicey when Akira wants to distance himself from Ellie due to girls usually getting bullied for liking him. But Ellie so bad wants to be near him. The ending was really cute and hoping these two get together.

A 4 out of 5.

Ugh Ellie and Omi are both so cute pls :'))) And I really appreciate Sara for always looking out for Ellie.

Love the new character introduced (I can't recall his name lol but I remember Omi calling him Sara's guard dog); hope to see his development with Sara in the future volumes!

This was actually so funny. I struggled getting into it (I swear I repeat this for most reviews...) but I really enjoyed reading in the end.

It reminds me of first falling in love and all of the nerves that come with dating someone for the first time.

This was a super sweet read of budding love and friendship.

Whilst I enjoyed it, I'm unsure if I will be picking up any future volumes. But I really enjoyed it.

Vol. 1 ★★★☆☆
Vol. 2 ★★★★☆

I've been waiting for Eriko and Ohmi to run into problems about their decision to keep the relationship a secret. Sadly, Fujimomo doesn't fully resolve the issue and only pushes it off to be dealt with later. Still, this is a fun volume and I'm glad the misunderstandings get cleared up quickly.

I don't understand why every shoujo high school romance should have background ("clingy villainous") girls who will start a witch hunt for the MC just because the popular ("hot") guy starts to take interest in the MC??!!

It is just really annoying.

You know what? I said I didn't really dig romance stories after Sakurai-san Wants to Be Noticed just bored me silly, but this one isn't too bad! It's more along the lines of Peach Girl, where the main "couple" characters

1. admit to liking each other,
2. have *competition* in their affections, and
3. deal with assorted external problems when trying to be with each other. (That is, they aren't together for reasons other than they're too embarrassed to spell out, to each other, that they like each other.)

Sakurai-san had the first one only.

I don't think I'd read this again (particularly since I missed book 2 somehow), since some of what I hate about romances is the drama, particularly high school drama. It's "fun" to see it play out once and eventually get resolved. It's not fun to relive it over and over.

Still, it's a good read the first time. I think it's a solid effort at capturing the awful awkwardness of school romance and high school kids being... high school kids. The art is solid, and maybe the only thing I might tweak is to make Ohmi stand out a little more. (This is a typical problem with manga/anime and same-face-itis.)

4.5 stars. Not perfect, but I really enjoyed it. This was so cute and made me so giddy from beginning to end. I can't believe I ever thought the series might not be for me haha Again, the main characters are so much fun, and I also gotta note how awesome Sara is! She's so funny and such a good friend.
Loved the ending and I'm so excited for the next volume!

Ah, Ellie and Omie never fail to crack me up with their awkward yet oddly entertaining antics. One thing I’ve been enjoying about the series that has also kept me reading is that the author seems to be purposefully straying away from what you’d expect in a high school shojo romance. I fully expected the situation between the two main characters to be one where they were using the secrets they knew about each other as a means of manipulation but I love this so much more.

Some asshole called Kaname has discovered Ellie’s tweets. Yes, I’m convinced he’s an asshole, that introduction at the end of the volume is all it took to know he’s about to be a problem. Good thing I have the next volume on my manga shelf 😌

Ellie constantly saying she’s horny is so annoying lol

Recap: she passes math so she asks for her prize, a kiss! Ohmi says you know what that means right and they get interrupted, she overthinks her first kiss, he finally reveals that he wants to kiss her because he likes her. Someone posts a pic of them and people think he and Sara are dating. Sara gets bullied but her friend saves her. Ohmi decides to stay away from Ellie for her safety, sports day, he’s on volleyball and she’s on ping pong finals. He shoos her away and she’s hurt, but he comes to watch her match and they reconcile at the end. Intro of the guy who makes fun of her tweets.

Again, this is your typical shoujo manga, but in here I think we start to see one problem from their blossoming relationship. Omi obviously cares for Ellie but he just doesn't know how to say it so Ellie thought Omi doesn't like him. I think this story has been done way too many times on shoujo mangas but nonetheless, I still found this volume to be quite cute. It looks like next volume there'll be even more problems for them so I'm kinda looking forward if this will bring something new from their dynamic. :)

3.5 stars.

I'm getting really annoyed with Ellie's perversion. I get that she's really young (all of us weren't saints at that age), but nearly every cute moment is ruined by her saying something really out of pocket. Understandable as that's her character though it gets old fast. I'm honestly just trudging through it as I still see a purpose to finish it until the day I say "I cannot keep reading this". The manga does get redemption points for the cute ending and serious points, but not too much.

The only thing worth remembering is the ending which imo isn't great.

this series cracks me up!!! ellie is too hilarious. the panty bandaid at the end lmfao. the volume doesn't quite hit 5 stars for me, because we do get conflict, but it's the stupid 'I'm going to push you away but not tell you why when really it's to try and protect you' trope. ARGGG. but they seem to patch things up by the end, so hopefully we don't see that again. also - super interested to know more about sara and her childhood friend...that guy is so devoted. I need the backstory!!
