Light and dark—polar opposites. That is how Brianna sees Gavin and Lukas. One is the brightest stream of sunshine and the other as dark as twilight.

Brianna Rafferty is a clàr silte—a witch with the power to strip others of their magic. Her gift both scares the bejesus out of her and thrills her.

Her future is bleak and troublesome, filled with uncertainty. There are those who cloud her decisions, make her doubt herself and what she feels. Sometimes it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.

In the end, she will have to make her toughest decision yet. There is evil working among her, threatening all those she loves. In a journey of self-discovery, Brianna will do whatever it takes to protect them. No matter the cost.

I almost didn't finish this book, but I wanted to know what the ending would be, so I skipped to the end. lol. I was tired of Bri always questioning herself on who and what she should do. I couldn't believe why she couldn't see what was in front of her. I knew from the time her great great great grandma told her one was bad, that the bad one was Luke. I mean come on, Gavin has been nothing but a great boyfriend to her and a great person. All Luke has been doing was lying to her and giving her piece by piece what he wanted to share. Then there's her cat, the cat couldn't be around Luke. Cat knows everything, feels everything. I just wanted to take the book and smack it on Bri's face. I'm done. I love the Raven and Divisa series, but this one was a disappointment.

“Strap on your witch’s hat, ‘cause it is going to be a whirlwind of a ride.”

Moondust was a good conclusion to the Luminescence trilogy. Gavin and Bri's relationship rose up from the pitfalls of the second book and they were doing better than ever. I liked the growth in their relationship and the surety Bri had in her feelings of being torn over Gavin and Lukas. I loved Bri's friends Sophie, Austin, and Tori. The friendship between all of them was sweet and fun.

I still got a little frustrated with Bri at times. She never asks the questions I wanted her to ask. She missed a lot of big stuff that I wanted to know. Despite that, we still learn more about Bri's powers, Morgana's intentions, and Bri's witchy heritage.

I really liked Morgana's character. She was seductive and intriguing. I liked how she could be dark, and still be a loving grandmother type friend to Bri. Gavin and Bri were really cute together and I liked seeing them together more.

I do feel something a little unfinished with Lukas' character. I truly don't think he was all bad and I'd be interested to see a story about his origins and redemption.

Loved

I really enjoyed the story of Bri and Gavin. I knew Lucas as a twit and no good. I hate Bri had to go through so much and never deserve none if it! Although I didn't like how long it took her to decide that Gavin was who she wanted.

No more hiding who she is, her secret was ousted to her friends, Austin took it like a champ, Tori not so much, it took her a little longer to accept it, which I thought was crap lol. Friends should be friends no matter what. Even her aunt knew about Bri's Magic, which I kinda thought she knew the whole time.

All around I enjoyed this series!

This book was an amazing conclusion. It had me at the edge of my seat the whole time right up till the last word. For a second I believed J.L. Weil would have to write another book but no, she wrapped up a wonderful series and I'm sad to see it end. I wouldn't mind reading a continuation of this series since there is so much the author could do with it.

This series isn't bad, but it's not great either. It probably could have been a duology instead of a trilogy. While the story does flow alright, it feels half-baked. Maybe less than half. The ending is unsatisfying and feels rushed, like it needed to be wrapped up on a time crunch. The grammar and syntax is still lacking, honestly I felt like I found more proofreading mistakes in this last book than the first two. It does not seem like Bri has any character development, rather it feels like the series dragged her along kicking and screaming.

--Spoilers--

I don't understand why the losing/blackening of her soul is included if the complications from it were going to be time skipped and then resolved in a page or two right at the end. I also don't understand how Bri never puts two and two together, ever. She has to be told literally everything. When she got the rune tattoo, the artist warned her that using dark magic would cost her 10 fold. That is never brought up again. Instead, it's Sophie telling her that black magic damages the soul, and Morgana confirms that. Gavin never brings up the warning despite standing right there when it was said. It was like that whole thing was forgotten about until the last second.

That was my main sticking point. I don't hold paranormal romances to very high standards because a lot of them are the same. I like the love plot points, that's what I read them for. However, this series is one of the only ones that has frustrated me like this. The more I think about it, the more frustrating it is. The relationships aren't fleshed out at all, which made it not so fun to read and made the plot holes that much more obvious. It doesn't help that Bri is a whiny dimwit the whole way through. It all compounded into an unsatisfying story that could have been really good.

I can't give these books more than a 3 star rating. The grammar is annoying. Brianna is annoying to read with all her negative thinking about herself and what's going on. I get it yes some teenager girls and women can go crazy with thoughts running through the brains about everything. Do we need to really read about it? Ugh. I also wasn't happy when I read an f-bomb in the story. My preference I don't like to have in stories. You can use better writing than putting in those words.

Anyways, beyond most of the book with Brianna complaining, being a horrible friend, keeping her secrets to herself and not sharing with her friends and Aunt about what's going on with her. It was an ok book. Her friends found out about her being a witch when some witches attacked her because of her incredible powers she has. Her Aunt knew all along she was a witch. Oops I'm probably sharing spoilers.

This book with Brianna, Gavin and Luka, it felt like Twilight all over again. I'm glad Brianna picked the right one to help her through all this magic mess and relationships. I'm also glad I'm done reading this book. The next one is really short so let's see what it has in it. Hopefully I don't waste my time.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I thought this was a good book. I loved that Gavin never gave up on Bri even when she was a bit confused about her feelings or she was fighting against the blackness that was taking over her soul. Bri finally finds out that someone close to her betrayed her since one of the witches that attacked and tried to k*ll her knew her name as they’re scared of the power she can wield since she’s a Clar Silte meaning she can drain a witch of their magic and I can’t believe she still didn’t think it was actually Lukas or that there must’ve been a reason for it when she was told that it was him who’d given everyone her name and description. I loved Bri’s visits with her Great Grandmother Morgana as she gave her some good advice and even helped her not give up and fight for her life in the final battle. I’m looking forward to reading the final book and getting more of Bri and Gavin. I’d recommend this book, series and author.

Moondust (Luminescence Book 3)

I just loved the book!!! It was definitely a page turner!!! And I hope there is another book because I just loved this series so much!!!
It ended amazingly, is there is no cliffhanger, but I would love to see what happens in the future to the happy couple!!!!
Do they go to college? Do they get married?? Do they have their happily ever after?? Or are people still looking for Brianna? I guess those are questions that are just in my mind!!
But, other than that!! I LOVED the series and the book!!!

Definitely going to recommend and going to see what else J.L. Weil's has written because she has me hooked!!!

Is there an editor?

I liked the general plot and storyline of this series, but I kept getting stopped up on the horrible syntax/grammatical errors on almost every page!! The whole series was like this, where words would be jumbled, the incorrect use of a word/ form of a word was used. I think the editors skipped over this completely. I enjoyed the story and the characters though.

Meh- main character was horrible

I stopped reading this book simply due to not liking Brianna's character. I liked everyone else and they were the only reason why I made it to the third. She was wishy washy, whiny, selfish, a horrible friend, girlfriend and weak even in the strongest moments. Its a good story line but how the main character was written was not doing her any favors. I like the authors work but this one could have used more time- .......and editing.

Good, but not as great as the previous two

The story here was okay. But oh, my, gosh!! I was so distracted at the volume of typos in this book alone. Yikes. And there were a few times I felt Lunar was overlooked and I didn’t see the whole purpose of him in the story. There were a few aspects that were hard to follow and some areas that could have tied off better. Good ending, but overall not the page turner the other two books were.

I highly recommend this trilogy

I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 books in this trilogy. Bri is a typical teenage girl in the sense that she suffers from self doubt and insecurities, which end up keeping her from sharing important information with those she cares about and in turn puts her in more danger. Fans of paranormal romance will love these books!

This story had me on the edge of my seat constantly, just as I thought things were in the clear something else happened and I read as fast as I could to see the outcome. Gavin was wonderful as ever, others learn the truth, Morgana became more, and Lukas showed who he really was. Excited that there is a bonus story yet to read.

I finally finished this book. It was all right. Good conclusion of it all unless you want to read the 4th book when she was sent off to College. I’ll stop from here. It wasn’t my favorite series from J.L.Weil however it still did it’s magic about young love.

J.L. Weil is an amazing author. Her world is imaginative yet believable at the same time. I really enjoyed this series, and the ending was great! It didn’t leave the reader feeling empty like so many others do, instead it brought it to a perfect wrap up. Highly recommend!

wow

I love how she ended it but I called which one was which 😂 I wish love was like books and romance too but it’s dry and unimpressive in real life. That’s why I love reading at least I can read about it even if I don’t live it.

Slow

Hard to keep my attention, book was mediocre at best and the characters could’ve been written a bit better. A lot of words were repeated and the storyline dragged.

The story was very predictable, the love triangle drama was boring because you already knew who she was going to pick. I also found so many typos that it ruined the flow of the book.

I want to start out saying that overall, I liked this book. I found it got to me emotionally, and I liked the writing for the most part. It was easy to overlook much needed editing of grammar and improper word usage. In fact, I liked the author's style so much that I've read almost all of her books. However, there was one aspect of this book that frustrated me immensely: the love triangle. I'm personally not a fan of love triangles so the book before this one had frustrated and annoyed me in regards to the triangle as well, especially with the way the lead female handled it. It made it hard to like her. However, the rest of the story line was interesting enough for me to overlook the love triangle in book two. Not so easy to do in book 3 because it seemed like the love triangle had been resolved in book 2; the lead female had figured out who she loved and was meant to be with in book 2, yet suddenly in book 3 she is confused again [and not for any reasons that seem believable/acceptable] and the love triangle resumes. The reasons for her confusion and refusal to commit were so annoying and aggravating to the point that there were times I actually hated her. It was really hard to like her and be on her side in this book because of her resuming the triangle compounded with the way she'd handled it in book 2 before making her "decision." Last, her complete lack of attention to all the glaring clues she was provided with in the first two books regarding who was evil and who was not was incredibly frustrating and annoying to witness. Despite all of this, I did like the series and its conclusion.

Other then the random (but not overly present) typos, the only problem I have with this book is the ending. I read other reviews that it felt rushed and I have to agree with those reviews. The entire book is very suspenceful and will kill you up reading and wanting to know what happens w/ gavin and bri and lukas. I never was much of a fan of lukas, definitely rooting for Gavin through the entire series and I loved how the relationship between bri and morgana evolved. I think what was so disappointing was how at the end it was like "oh yeah.....here's the answer" (I'm being vague to avoid a spoiler) and that was it. I feel like there could of at least been one more chapter after that prior to the graduation with a little more of Gavin and Bri. I would definitely like a spin off novella maybe w/ gavin & bri in college....I just feel like their story isn't quite done and the same goes for sophie and jared...maybe a spin off story with them. Lots of lose ends that could really be tied up here as well as with her aunt claire and chad.

This book... It wasn't... that great. I don't want to be a negative nelly but the grammar and the spelling mistakes were quite abundant. At times it was difficult to read because you could tell it was in a very fast paced moment and she got carried away and forgot to look back. Big mistake.

Secondly, the attempt of sarcasm and character development was weak. Trying to make Brianna sassy and quick witted flipped her character back and forth between quiet and obedient to "Yeah, look at the shit fly!" And speaking of shit... did we really have to endure "Poo hit the fan"? Seriously? In a scene where it was quick with action and the swears were flying, we still dealt with "Poo hit the fan" and "muther trucker".

The series was overly predictable with not a lot going on... The love triangle, with those specifications, could have had a lot of potential, but it didn't live up. To anything.

Overall, meh.

I love the story. I just started losing interest at times due to Bri's lack of confidence and just seeing things that were so obvious & clear. I'm happy her & Gavin got a happy ending along with her aunt and friends. I kept wondering why Breanne never thought back to what the tarot card lady had told her about the Moondust. Luckily, Gavin saved the day~ The grammar at times was enough to make me want to give up on the story, but I had already endured it throughout the first and second book in the series, so I kind of just let it go. I enjoy the author's writing and her other books/series. I can say I do recommend this series because there's a lot of wonderful parts to the entire series. The love, family & sacrifice that led Breanne to her final choice was poetic and selfless. I loved Morgana too.

Good grief, I could have gone a few more months without this book for her to have had it edited properly. The amount of misspelled words, missing words, and misused words were enough to make me want to grab a red pen and school her. With that said, I enjoyed the ending to the series, even though it was predictable. A nice and easy read.
