Understanding more of God's character and how he loves us changed bestselling author Holley Gerth's life in beautiful, powerful ways. She realized that she didn't have to settle for "I'm fine" when there was someone whispering to her in every moment, "You're mine." The hope, joy, peace, and purpose she longed for were already there, in the heart of God.
Now in 52 devotional readings, Holley shares with women the answer to the restlessness they feel in their hearts that keeps them hurrying, striving, pushing. She shows them that "the God who scattered stars like diamonds across the velvet of the universe, the keeper of every sparrow, the maker of us all, is inviting us to draw closer to him. He is the place where our hearts can go on the hard days and the happy ones, in the highs and lows, when we are sad or frustrated or downright giddy. He is what we've been searching for all along."
Hope. Whether we are going through hard times or are just going through everyday ho hum days, most of us could use an extra dash of hope each day. Holley Gerth's new devotional, Hope Your Heart Needs, offers an encouraging hopeful reading for 52 days.
Each reading in Hope Your Heart Needs starts with a Bible verse for the day. Then Holley writes a short devotional reading in which she reflects on the Scripture and shares stories from her heart. At the end of each reading, there is a brief prayer to lift up to God.
Hope Your Heart Needs is a small book but it is large on sharing hope, encouragement and God's love to the reader in each reading. I like the small size because it is easy to stick in your purse or bag and carry along for a quick read whenever you need it. Gerth is co-founder of (in)courage and a partner with Dayspring. She is also a licensed counselor and a life coach, among other things. All of that adds up to an author who knows how to lift up readers and encourage them. I often turn to Gerth's books when I am feeling down and alone. She always helps me feel better about things and reminds me that God cares about me. I would encourage everyone to read this book. It would also make a nice gift book for a friend needing some encouragement.
I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review.
Loved this devo by Holley Gerth. So refreshing and encouraging. Love how she titled almost ever entry with just one word naming/describing a different facet of who God is -- for example, Refuge, Sustainer, Healer, Giver, etc. Such wonderful reminders of God's great love for us. Thankful to have won this in a Goodreads giveaway last year!
Holley Gerth presents a book of fifty-two devotionals, each focusing on a different aspect of God's character. The writing style is personal and comforting. It's like sitting down with a cup of coffee and a good friend, and pouring your heart out until you feel clean, emptied of your pain and struggles, filled with God's grace.
At first, I wasn't too impressed with this book. The first handful of readings weren't very "deep," with nothing special about them. The second half, though, contained many chapters and passages that spoke to me.
Recommended to anyone who enjoys devotionals designed for women of any age, needing some hope for their hearts. <3
**I received a complimentary copy of this book from B&H/Lifeway in exchange for my honest review.**
This sweet, tiny devotional is sure to find its way onto the shelves of every Christian bookstore. In fifty-two short chapters, the author explores different names and titles of God/Jesus in a thoughtful, entertaining way. I don’t normally read modern devotionals but while I occasionally found Hope Your Heart Needs to be lacking in depth, I still enjoyed Gerth’s insights. She offered a few new thoughts on the character of God that I thought were excellent. I know this book will prove uplifting to anyone who reads it.
Highly recommended to anyone looking for a quick read to boost their spirit and their faith in the One above all earthly powers.
I received a free copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my honest review.
This is such a lovely book. I haven't finished it yet as j plan to read a chapter a day during my daytime quiet hour. I have already skimmed though and read a few chapter throughout and it is a lovely reminder that we are loved and we can love. This book is a wonderful size to hold in my hands and the cover is soft with a luxurious feel. This is a goodreads win and it arrived on my birthday as a surprise as I didnt see that I was a winner. It brought joy to my heart.
I really enjoyed Fiercehearted (read my review here), so I was excited for the chance to read bestselling author, counselor, and speaker Holley Gerth's newest book, Hope Your Heart Needs: 52 Encouraging Reminders of How God Cares for You. This devotional contains 52 short chapters, each focusing on an individual attribute of God or truth about who He is, especially relating to His love and care for His children (e.g., I AM, Truth, Peace, Comforter, Refuge, Shepherd, Provider, Purpose-Giver, Tear-Catcher); each chapter begins with a Bible verse (foundational to the chapter's focus) and ends with a brief prayer. Once again, I enjoyed not only Gerth's writing style, but also her words.
Hope Your Heart Needs is enjoyable and encouraging to read. Gerth is honest and real, yet never self-absorbed or preachy, and her writing is personable and relatable, at times conversational, with some more poetic and descriptive writing interwoven throughout. Though some chapters tend toward "touchy-feely," overall Hope Your Heart Needs is grounded in solid Biblical truth and more substantive than many devotional-type books. It is not trite, overly "spiritual," or radical. Rather, it is thoughtful and often thought-provoking or bringing a new perspective on familiar concepts. I appreciate that many times Gerth reminds readers of the importance of reading the Bible, prayer, being attentive to the Holy Spirit, and the counsel and community of other believers. On another note, many of the outside quotes from books or authors that Gerth includes add interesting context or conceptual depth. (If anything, I would have liked the chapters to be just a page or two longer, so the content was not quite so brief!)
Whether used in a small group setting or as a prompt for journaling, or read as a daily or weekly devotional (or all at once as I did!), I would recommend Hope Your Heart Needs (and also think it would make a great gift, especially with its small size and fun "puffy" padded cover :)). Without meaning to be too sappy, this book is like meeting a wise friend for coffee (or tea, based on the cover image): you'll come away feeling encouraged and loved, not only because your friend cared enough to speak the truth in love, even if it's hard truth, but also because she ultimately refocused your gaze off yourself and onto Christ . . . because when we remember and recognize rightly who God is, His greatness, His goodness, His presence, and how He loves and cares for us, it deeply impacts not only our walk with Him as believers, but also our identity, relationships, and daily lives.

“Hope Your Heart Needs” by Holley Gerth “52 Encouraging Reminders Of How God Cares For You”
If you are familiar with the author Holley Gerth you know how encouraging her words can be and how easy it is to read and relate to her books. If you aren’t familiar with her, you will soon be, as you begin to read this book. It will read like a close friend is speaking with you, a friend who knows how you are feeling and wants to share hope and encouragement with you.
This book may be small in size (6″ by 4″) but it is packed with hope, help and encouragement for every life situation you may be facing. It is not a book that you read just once and put away. It is a book that you want to read daily, over and over, one that you will want to keep nearby to pick up and read whenever the need arises.
My favorite thing about this book is that each of it’s 52 Chapters is titled with one of God’s Names based on His attributes or character. If you have ever studied God’s Names you know there is one for every circumstance you might encounter.
Are you having a really sad, sorrowful day filled with heartache and tears? Read Chapter 19 titled “Tear Catcher” and you will find instant comfort, at least I did.
Or, maybe you are stressed out and frustrated, you just need a break, someone to step in and give you some strength and support, someone who Chapter 21 says is our Sustainer. “Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.” Psalm 54:4 tells us.
And, there are many more Chapters that you will easily find yourself relating to such as Helper, Guide, Friend, Comforter, Provider, One-Who-Sees, Rescuer, Healer, Caretaker, Forgiver, Purpose-Giver, and many more.
I really recommend this book as a great daily resource to keep on hand.
I received this book free from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to give a favorable review, but have chosen to do so. All thoughts are my own.
I have to be grated to my dear neighbor, who finding out I’m into reading/reviewing Christian books, loaned me her copy from her KINDLE.
I’ve always been a rather voracious book reviewer of a very wide spectrum of genres from picture books for the youngest of reader all the way to a which I rather not mention here. But lately, with an increased passion for this type of book, I’m quickly reading through a book in order to write my review and get unto another book from my TBReviewed pile or another Christian book. It took me 1 ½ days to read this book and here is my honest review.
After reading through this book I feel the best way for others to enjoy the most and make it more rewarding than it is, would to be read each chapter one week at a time, with the best being the first thing each Sunday Sabbath morning. Why this day? The answer can be found in:
King James Bible Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
The author, Holley Gerth, each of her 52 chapters concerns some particular characteristic which the Lord has [some we’ve might have forgotten or never have realized] or likewise about a truth of who/what he is. Each chapter begins with a biblical citation befitting what we’re about to read, and reading each chapter I feel it’s best for her readers to meditate on what they’ve read before offering the heartfelt prayer at the end of each chapter.
In writing this book, Ms. Gerth, wants her reader’s lives to be changed similar to the way her life has been transformed in much as in the manner which is depicted in:
New International Version Deuteronomy 30:6 The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.
And for wanting to do this for all of her readers, Ms. Gerth has gotten 5 STARS from this reviewer.
This book surprised me with how tiny it is, but it's true what they say that the best things come in small packages! In this day and age, we are all longing for something more, something Greater. We need to cling to God like never before and this is the perfect little book to do so, its perfect size to carry in your purse for those moments that arise and you are struggling to hang on to hope.
Her words of encouragement filled each page pointing us to God with each and every Devotion. She starts each devotional with a scripture that you can read deeper into and pray about. I think that its wonderful that she included littler prayers at the end of each Devotion. That is wonderful for anyone struggling because sometimes its hard to find the words to say when your heart is so broken. It's also wonderful for new believers to help them learn how to pray. Holley's books will touch many lives along the way and you will want to reach for it time and time again.
When you are feeling tired and overwhelmed it's easy to open her book up and pick out which deviotnal would uplift you the most. They are mostly one or two word titles but they truly speak volumes about who our God is. The tiles are Bread of life, Helper, Friend, Keeper, Freedom, Faithful, Rest, Forgiver just to name a few of the 52 devotions. Giving you reassurance that he is there for you no matter what you are struggling with you can surely find one of her devotionals comforting. They are short reads, you could even use them as bible journaling prompts because they stir something up in your heart that gets you thinking of how great our God is. I think that's what makes a great devotional, leaving you with the feeling of something more stirring in your heart. I love her gentle reminders that we are important to God.
I received this book from Revell Publishing a division of Baker Publishing Group. The review is made up of my thoughts!
** “When we know (who God is), we begin to live from a different perspective. We understand we are small and yet hugely significant. We see we have an important place in God’s story, but we are not the author. We realize hard times will come, but there is One for whom nothing is impossible.” **
Holley Gerth offers an uplifting look at who God is and how much He loves us in “Hope Your Heart Needs.”
With 52 very short chapters, each beginning with a verse and ending with a prayer, Gerth reveals 52 different names and characteristics of God, all reminding us of God’s attributes and His deep love for us.
Again and again she reminds us that we are not alone and that we are God’s masterpiece. But she also easily manages to portray God as not just this lofty, unreachable deity, but as a very real god who became like man. She reminds us that Jesus hurt and ached and smiled and laughed while on Earth, facing the same struggles that we each face.
Gerth is a beautifully descriptive writer (“He spoke the world into being as the light-bringer, star-scatterer, and breather of life into the first man’s lungs.”) But she is also a very conversational writer, like she’s talking to you over a nice cup of tea. I also enjoy how relatable she is, often being very real and honest about her own flaws and struggles.
Ultimately, this book shows us that we can always go to God. He will never turn away from us.
“Hope Your Heart Needs” could be used as a daily devotional, reading one characteristic per day, or read straight through as a giant lump of love and encouragement.
Five stars out of five.
Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, provided this complimentary copy for my honest, unbiased review.
I am not sure why I requested this book except I have read one of Holley's books and just really, really liked it and so therefore, I thought getting one more devotional book would be worth it to read Holley's words. And you know what? I think it was. This book was filled with hope and encouragement, maybe bordering on a too-good Gospel, but I also felt it was fairly accurate as well. When you are looking at a book on encouragement, you aren't necessarily expecting discouraging comments and it is really hard to get both sides of the coin in one book.
Names and descriptions of God make up the titles on each daily reading: Author, Counselor, Friend, Shepherd, Comforter, Instructor and on and on. There is a Bible verse to go along with each day as well, as well as a little story to get you started.
"He is not a God of soul starvation but of salvation. He is not cutting portions; he is passing out extra helpings. He is not giving us meager handouts; he is giving us his very self. And there is more than enough for us all." I really like this quote, but one caution I would give is that sometimes God's portions may not look like what we think we would like. God does see the whole picture and Hey may dole out some suffering portions to help us to fully trust and tremble before Him.
I really enjoyed this book and the promise of hope that breathes throughout the pages. It is also a lovely little book to look at: hardback with one of those almost puffy covers that just takes the beauty of a book to the next level, in my opinion. Christmas is coming; it would make a great gift.
I received this book from Revell and was not required to write a positive review.
This is one of several books by Holley Gerth I’ve had the pleasure of reading, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. With her gentle, poetic style, Holley offers 52 devotions to help you ponder the different names of God recorded in Scripture.
I love the beautiful language and well-drawn word pictures she uses throughout her books, including this one. She writes with vulnerability, sharing her real-life struggles and turning her stories into golden nuggets of inspiration for you.
I enjoyed the tidbits of Bible knowledge and the great quotes from other authors that she shares so freely. I can always count on a high-quality read from Holley, whether it’s on her blog or in her books. Hope Your Heart Needs is a gift book that you can give with confidence to a loved one or friend who needs hope.
Favorite quotes:
“Sometimes when I look back with regret at the past or toward tomorrow with fear, it can be disturbing because I can’t seem to find God in those places. And I think all the while he might be saying, ‘I was there when you were. And I will be there when you arrive at that place tomorrow. But right now I’m right here.'”
“Easton’s Bible Dictionary says Abba ‘is a term expressing warm affection…and confidence.’ The same entry also notes, ‘It has no perfect equivalent in our language’…There is no perfect equivalent to the kind of dad that God is to us.”
“It’s easy to think of Jesus as powerful, mighty, and holy. It’s simpler for me to bend my knee than dare to bend his ear about my daily, ordinary struggles. But we are his friends. We can go to him with anything and everything.”
Netgalley provided me a free copy of Hope Your Heart Needs.
It’s been defined as “the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best” (according to dictionary.com). As I continue to scroll down through the definitions, I also discover this definition, “a person or thing in which expectations are centered” (from the same source).
In her latest book, “hope your heart needs“, author Holley Gerth brings this reminder from her own search for hope: “And suddenly I came to a turning point: I realized what my heart needed wasn’t a simple answer to a problem. No, I was looking for, longing for, a Person.” (from page 10)
This book delivers 52 reminders which will encourage and infuse your heart with hope. On these pages, you will find yourself hopeful in the One who never changes and is ever faithful.
The chapters are short making this perfect to grab in the moments when strength is needed. It can be used as a devotional, maybe one reading a week as there are 52 chapters. Each chapter focuses on a verse and one truth about God, including a thought from the author, and a closing prayer.
This book is filled with encouragement and hope as that is the style of Holley Gerth – she’s an encourager. But more so, the book is filled with encouragement and hope as it brings us to remember the character of our God.
*** I received a copy of this book from Revell Books for review purposes. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Holley's books have heart. Her obvious love for God and her audience come shining through each of her pages. Hope Your Heart Needs is an interesting book, while the title points out the intent of reminding readers of God's care, each little chapter (averaging only a few short pages) serves more as an introduction to a different name and aspect of God's character. What a brilliant and solid way to introduce true hope to readers.
The chapters themselves are easy to read, mostly consisting of life lessons Holley has experienced and scripture verses which all point back to the thematic name of each chapter. At first, the easiness of the read had me concerned that the book would be more fluff than substance (certainly not what I expect from Holley) but as I read on each chapter read more as a gentle invitation to discover God's character reinforcing the call of hope and care the title offers to readers. Holley uses scripture to present biblical evidence for God's nature while providing human examples of how that nature intersects with the human heart in the messy, beautiful complexity that is faith and relationship.
Physically, the book is a great carry long, smaller than the average book, it's easy to slip into a bag or a friend's hand when they need a pick me up ;)
4 out of 5 stars.
I received this book as part of the Revell Reads Book Tour, the opinions expressed are my own.
I am a total fan of Holley Gerth's work. Her writing is always spot on for what I need. Her new devotional is no exception. There are 52 delightful and encouraging short stories about life and one of God's many names with a verse and prayer to match.
This small sized book (It fits in my purse!) is jam-packed with just enough theology, just enough humanness, just enough transparency, and just enough of life's joy, triumph, sorrow, and pain.
5 Favorite Quotes from Hope Your Heart Needs:
...rest is not simply the lack of activity but the presence of trust, because trust is a kind of inner leaning, an intentional reliance on someone else. pp. 209 Bread of Life, You are the only one who can satisfy the hunger in our lives. pp. 23 ...He has specific assignments for us during our time on earth... They are original and only for us. pp. 71 Faith is not about what we want to happen; it's about Who we're trusting in no matter what the future holds. pp. 85 When we find our refuge in God, we can be who we are, do what we're called to do, live without shame and guilt and fear. And now, I will go back and read the whole book again. This time, one day at a time, savoring, sharing, and sensing the life-giving words on these pages.
Thank-you, Holley Gerth! What a blessing this has been!
Sitting in a comfy chair with a warm cup of tea or coffee are my ideal morning times. They rarely exist in my reality though. Instead its out of bed by 5:30, showered & dressed by 5:45, turning on lights in the living room and kitchen and meeting the kids at the table by 6:00 for morning devotion time. Regardless of how my reality lines up with my ideal, the book Hope Your Heart Needs is a perfect devotion book to snuggle up with in the morning to read with your cup of hot _______(fill in the blank).
I have adored this sweet devotion book, and since my reality is a bit crazy, many nights I read a devotion before bed, allowing me to contemplate Holley's words as I fell asleep.
Holley Gerth always writes truth. This is my favorite thing about her, she does not say what you want to hear, or what she wants to say, she shares God's word straight to you. I love this book of encouraging devotions that are exactly what she says they are : reminders of how God cares for us.
As Christmas shopping season is almost here, depending on who you are, this book would make a great Christmas gift for a reader, or a Jesus lover! It is a book full of truths, its adorable and it will inspire its reader and remind them of who they are!!
NOTE : I received a copy of Hope Your Heart Needs in exchange for an honest review from Revell Publishers.
“Hope Your Heart Needs” by popular author Holly Gerth is a lovely little addition to the devotional genre. Published by Revell in 2018, “Hope Your Heart Needs” is the newest title in the growing list of books by this author.
First, I must say that this is a very pretty little book, with a padded hardcover, decorative fonts, and a warming image of a teacup. The chapters inside are short, excellent to just pick up and read when you don’t have a lot of time. The chapters can either be read in order, or you can scan the contents at the front and choose the one that pops out to you on that particular day.
The writing style is warm and approachable - much like a friend. I would recommend this book to those who are new to the Christian faith, or to those still considering a relationship with God. Those who have already been pursuing this relationship for a length of time may not find much new information in this book, but at the same time it might also feel comforting on hard days.
Filled with gentle encouragement, “Hope Your Heart Needs” will be great for those looking for short, sweet devotionals to read regularly, or to give as a gift to a loved one.
I received this book courtesy of Revell Publishing, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Holley Gerth's "hope your heart needs" is an encouraging reminder of God's love for us. Driven by her passion to empower girls and young women, Gerth writes books filled with wisdom on how to tackle our stress and busyness in this overwhelming world.
"hope your heart needs" offers 52 reminders of how God cares for us by helping us understand His character and His love for us. Each "chapter" focuses on one of God's character traits, such as Advocate, Bread of Life, Bright Morning Star and Shepherd, just to name a few. Through personal experiences and insights, Gerth shares how God has met her needs and how He promises to meet ours as well.
I have read most, if not all, of Gerth's books. They are all encouraging and uplifting and draw you closer to God. You can choose to read "hope your heart needs" daily or weekly to stay focused on God's love for you.

"We don't have to settle for 'I'm fine.'" (12) ". . .His word is one long love letter of encouragement.'" (67)
Holly Gerth's Hope Your Heart Needs is one little book that fit much thought that is almost contradictory to its size. There are 52 chapters (probably by design) and there are 52 weeks in a year. It'll make a great weekly devotional on top of your daily quiet time. Of course, you can go ahead and use it daily, but having done so myself, I would recommend taking your time.
Hope Your Heart Needs is the first book of Holly Gerth's that I've read. Hope is a strong and heavy word for me, and the author's easy style of writing, almost like she's conversing with each one of us makes Hope Your Heart Needs the type of devotional that really speaks to me. Her words of encouragement, backed by scripture and personal stories does act as reminders for us. Reminders of His Word, His promise and His love. A weekly devotional that may make a great start of a week, to inspire, uplift and encourage readers, and in turn those they encounter.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. This is my honest opinion.
Holley Gerth’s devotional Hope Your Heart Needs offers short reflections. Every short reminder reflects on a different element of God’s character.
The reflections often include stories from Gerth’s life, which tie into the verses she is reflecting on. I found the personal nature of the devotions relatable.
Some of the 52 facets of God’s character Gerth shares about include:
Helper Friend Comforter Instructor Giver
Examples of quotes include:
On I AM: “God is somehow, mysteriously always present tense.” On His being our Shepherd: “He found me when it didn’t look to anyone else like I’d gone missing.” On Christ as Truth: “Truth is always and only to defend the people we love. To protect each other’s hearts. To say, ‘I see a threat in your life and I am willing to put myself on the line on your behalf’.” On God as our Dwelling Place: “Home is a person. And He is always with us.” True to its title, Hope Your Heart Needs was consistently hope-giving and heart-focused. Gerth continues in this devotional to use her gift for connecting the head to the heart through faith.
I recommend this little devotional as a gift for loved ones and as encouraging reading for yourself.
From the book: “Why did he need to be a Carpenter? Maybe, just maybe, he was a carpenter for me....Each hurt is a board, each disappointment a piece of wood, and each trial a plank. Jesus, the Carpenter, is taking each piece of wood and nailing it together. He is nailing together a future that is unclear to me, but I have peace because he is my Carpenter. I take great comfort in Ephesians 2:10. “For we are Gods workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” I understand that my past was not wasted. He is using it all to “build” me so I can do the good works God has prepared for me to do. I don’t know what he has in store for me in the next phase of my life; however it doesn’t matter, because he is building me into his masterpiece.”
Is this why Jesus spent all those years as a carpenter? I think it’s likely one reason of many. So much of God’s plan is a mystery. But those “wasted” years in his life, in ours? It seems clear there is no such thing. A Master Carpenter knows how to make every part useful, every part beautiful. And he is not done with his work in us yet. -From “Hope Your Heart Needs”
This devotional is wonderful for the days when hope can be hard to find. Broken down into 52 entries, each one is based on an aspect of God’s character. They can be read in order or out of order based on what you feel called to read.
I picked this book up to read during a time of uncertainty based on some medical issues I’ve been experiencing and it was great to go to the table of contents and choose entries based on my needs (Comforter, Healer, Refuge). Holley’s writing is very relateable. She relays personal stories along with stories and lessons from scripture in a way that is enjoyable to read but also packs a big punch in a few pages.
This is a great devotional to pick up during times when hope is needed but also during times when time is short because each devotional is only about 4-5 pages long.
I also love the presentation of the book. It’s a small size that would fit nicely in a purse and the cover is very pretty. This would make a great gift.
I recommend this book to anyone who needs a daily dose of hope.
I received this book from the publisher tor review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I cracked open Holley Gerth’s new devotional recently and scanned the Table of Contents. I loved how each devotion has a one-word or short-phrase title that reference ways God cares for us. Of course, I zeroed in on the word “rescuer,” which keeps weaving its way into my life and turned to page 166 to read a story that starts at Niagara Falls where someone fell in and ends up in my own heart.
“I keep picturing those rescue workers. So diligent, so intent, so determined that the outcome would be one of victory. They could have said, ‘This is too much to ask of us. He’s on his own.’ They could have stood along the railing and just shook their heads. But no, they changed the ending of the story. And this is what our great God does too.” -Holley Gerth
Other titles in “Hope Your Heart Needs” that caught my eye were Author, Tear-Catcher, Holy-Maker, Sustainer, Grower, Advocate, Perfecter, and Purpose-Giver. Right there at the beginning, Holley gives God names rooted in truth she so beautifully shares through her words.
This is definitely a devotion that will be near so I can reach for it when I needed to be reminded God does indeed care for each one of us.
As always, Holley Gerth speaks to my heart and soothes my mind with her Biblical words of comfort.
This book has 52 encouraging devotionals that you could either do once a week, to last out the year, or do one a day (which I am doing) to help you remember who you are in God. Each day starts with a Scripture and then the devotional is written from Holley's heart to yours. She encourages, uplifts, and makes you feel as though you are talking to your best friend over coffee. Finally, there is a promise of who God is for us in our lives.
Holley has experienced the same type of heart-aches that all of us do and she shares how God has given her strength during the hard times. I love that she reminds us that it's okay not to be okay all the time but that God is with us through it all.
I highly recommend this devotional, as I have all of Holley's books. She never disappoints and she always keeps things true to the Word of God. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
*This book was provided to me by Revell. I received a copy of this book to review but I was not financially compensated in any way. The opinions expressed are my own and are based on my observations while reading this book.
This wonderful little book can be used as a devotional or just read for encouragement. Each chapter is based on a part of the character of God and includes a vignette of something that actually happened in the life of the author. I was drawn into the events of Ms Gerth’ s life and I was also drawn to meditate on how that facet of God’s character related to me and my life. The book was thought-provoking and made to be mediated on alongside the Bible. The author makes sure that the reader can understand how totally loving and caring God is, even in the the most dire circumstances. I was encouraged by this book and the truth of how much God cares for me, every day and in every way.

Wow! In 52 ways Holley Gerth has written a devotional to cover many topics that face us today. Honestly, this book has earned a home on my bookshelf for a long time coming. The messages are timely, and hit the target. This inspirational book could be read cover to cover. It can be studied as a day by day devotional. However, when I got this book in my hands, I looked up a topic you that called me and from there, the rest has been a pleasant journey.
Holley's style of writing and the encouragement she gives. Her down to earth style makes her feel like you have just sat down with a friend to discuss God's encouraging words. The format of this book is just right for someone who wants to pack inspiration into their tote to be pulled out for quiet moments in the day. It is a treasure trove of God's word and how they apply to our modern day lives. I was given my copy as a gift with an option to write a review or not, from Revell. I had to share my thoughts as this book is too good to keep to myself.
Hope Your Heart Needs: 52 Encouraging Reminders of How God Cares for You by Holley Gerth 5/5 ⭐️
Thank you to Revell for the free review copy. All opinions are my own.
I love reading Holley Gerth because she gets so personal and truly shares her heart in what she writes. This devotional was no different. She gives 52 different words for how God cares for you. I liked how each word had a verse and prayer. It was also so impactful because of how vulnerable she is in her writing.
There is a reminder on every page of who God is and how he cares for us. No matter the situation she is writing about, Gerth makes it so relatable. I stopped multiple times and thought I’ve been there, too. It’s wonderful to be reminded of where God is in all of those places.
This book is out now, and I think it’d be a great companion for a weekly word meditation or for something to read along with Bible time every day.
I have never read a book by Holley Gerth that I didn't love and Hope for Your Heart is no exception.
This book has 52 devotions which are each about five pages long. Each contains a scripture at the beginning and a prayer at the end. This book would be great for a quick devotion, for adding to your daily devotions, or for reading something "extra" during the day. The cover is so pretty and I enjoyed having it sit on my desk where I have my quiet times.
Whenever I read something by Holley Gerth, I feel like I have my own personal cheerleader. She weaves her own experiences into this book and talks about how she's grown to lean on God through those experiences.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a boost to their heart and a reminder that God loves them!
