As Caleb plans for his wedding to Caroline Langley, the bounty hunter brother of a man he killed is threatening to uncover his past. Can Levi find love with Bluebird, and will Caleb escape his past? Duane Boehm has written another western novel with enough humor, heartbreak, love, and outlaws to keep you turning the page.
Duane Boehm grew up on a farm outside of Petersburg, Illinois. All the time spent driving a tractor gave him plenty of opportunity to let his imagination run wild and not tear up too much equipment. The two passions he developed early in life were the love of playing guitar and reading books.
He eventually moved to a mini-farm outside of Murfreesboro, Tennessee with his wife and replaced planting corn with trees and raising dogs. For a number of years he worked as an IT consultant and continued with being a part-time musician and songwriter. He dabbled in writing short stories with the idea in the back of his mind that someday he would write a novel. One Christmas after watching "A Christmas Carol", he was inspired to begin his journey as a novelist.
Duane Boehm writes an enjoyable tale, consistent in his characters and the story history. As a grammar Nazi I love not getting hung up on poor word choices and bad grammar. He does a fine job.
Levi, Caleb, and Joey proves to be the type of men to ride the River with. They, along with their women, pull no punches in their ongoing commanding offensive attitude that brings peace and tranquility to their beloved area of responsibility!
Never read a Duane Boehm story that wasn't five stars worthy and this compassionately motivated series of unending excitement most definitely continues that trend! I was unable to put this compelling rendition of unending exciting adventures aside until the final paragraph had been read! There are no slow downs throughout the entire series of unending adventures, and the outstanding camaraderie of the good guys certainly will appease anyone's desired expectations! Mr. Boehm goes above and beyond in his descriptive storylines that successfully maintains anyone's undivided attention from beginning to end! Too, his successful selections of characters were unsurpassed in their commanding assignments throughout this compelling story of realistic old American western folklore extravaganzas! No slow downs in this compassionately motivated success story and the resilience of the good guys certainly will appease anyone's desired expectations! Definitely recommend this intriguing series of events to all readers, but especially to you western addicted readers, as I am! Even you non-western fanatics will find yourselves completely mesmerized immediately with these compassionately motivated stories, and the individuals involved. To not read this compelling western masterpiece will definitely be your loss!!!😃
Levi was a small time outlaw when he rescues Bluebird, a Pueblo Indian. As they flew the outlaw gang Levi begins to appreciate Bluebird as human being capable of feelings. They arrive at the Langley ranch and become part of the ranch family. The Langley's decide to expand their ranch to include cattle and then encounter rustlers. Levi and Bluebird contribute to the ranch and realize they love one another. The Langley's and Levi are dismayed at the prejudice against Bluebird. Caleb and Caroline and Joey and Claire marry and begin their lives together. A drifter arrives and creates tension between Gideon and Caleb who eventually come to recognize the strength's and trials in their individual lives. This is an interesting story with action, compassion and western life combined. I would recommend this book as it is joy filled and yet realistic in the trials and tribulations in the old west. Duane Boehm is an excellent story teller and writer. He keeps the big picture in mind as each member of Caleb's family in interwoven in the book.

It was a nice change of pace from what I normally read. I really enjoyed the tale and liked the main characters. I recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
I love these books. I have trouble getting to the next one so the 4 boxes set was great! They are easy to read with characters one comes to expect actions from a nd we/I am not disappointed. Plots are pretty simple and anticipated, maybe even sappy, which I love. I get wrapped up in the folks . The stories are perhaps simplistic and enjoyable in our busy and complicated lives. Thank you Duane.
A TH Western About A Young Man Who Saved an Indian Maiden
DB. has. penned a western about a young man who saved a young Indian girl and they have traveled from South Colorado to Wyoming and end up at the Wild Horse Ranch where the man from Tennessee and the lady owner are finally making a profit. They begin to trowel safe until a bounty hunter shows up. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
I gave this story the five star rating because it kept me on the edge of my seat reading page after page,I read book 1,and couldn't wait to see how the story ended in this book 2 and I was not disappointed ,Duane Boehm is an exceptionally creative and talented writer of the Western stories I can't get enough of. I enjoyed the characters and the diversity.living in the 1800's was difficult but they endured.Great book!
Sometimes things happen in our lives that changes us. But if we're going to move forward with our lives we need the courage to make a change. In Spirit of the Wild Horse the characters have to keep from letting the past control their future. The books in this series are well written, witty, and full of action. I have enjoyed every book written by this author.
Spirit of the Wild Horse 🐎(Wild Horse Westerns Book 2) by Duane Boehm
Spirit of the Wild Horse 🐎 compliments his first book so completely. Duane Boehm seamlessly blends both stories. His books just keep getting better. I love the characters that he weaves together to keep you on the edge of your seat. OUTSTANDING!!!!!BRAVO 👏👏
I chose five star rating because it was believable, good humor, and well scripted. No super wealthy hero, yet many characters were heroic.. I really hope a movie of this would happen. Very rich in character lives that came together at a Wyoming horse ranch..
A tough land requires a tough minded bread of people.
Another excellent Western interesting characters and a plot straight out of the times. If you enjoy reading good book about the West as I do then you should thoroughly enjoy Duane Boehms "Spirit Of The Wild Horse" series which I highly recommend.
Classic old west before local law enforcement and danger lurked close.
The army couldn’t handle everything while fighting Indian war parties and local law enforcement was frequently left to residents and ranchers. Excellent characters, great settings, fast guns, and horses deliver a vivid look at the old west as it was being tamed. Fascinating twists and well worth the time.
This book was exciting all the way through. I was entertained with the different story lines going on! The characters are well developed such that I cried in a couple parts. The author writes well and gives just enough descriptions to lead you on, wanting more. I will finish this series!
This was a really good western novel, the second in the series about a family of horse ranchers. It revolves around Caleb who arrived at the ranch with Joey who he's helped after being robbed by bandits. It's a story full of action, gun fights, and includes just the right mix of romance as well. I found it hard to put down and would highly recommend it!
Book 2 introduces Levi and Bluebird. Levi became a criminal because he couldn't get hired and had to eat. Bluebird belonged to one of Levi's fellow crooks who abused her badly. Levi finally had enough of her being abused and they escaped together. Caleb and Joey found them and took them to the ranch. Lots of action and a very good read.
This book was absolutely fantastic. I hope this series continues as Mr. Boehm has created some great characters. Would highly recommend this series to everyone that enjoys a great western.
Boehm skillfully weaves the lives of his characters in this series. He is a master at showing weaknesses and how circumstances change lives, while his characters mature page after page.
This is another installment in the Wild Horse Westerns. It is enjoyable reading. I look forward to the next installment -- eBook 3. I highly recommend it.
I like the Western genre and have read "a lot" of them, since I was 12 or so. I can tell the good from the bad pretty quickly but, please understand, my rating is based on my reading. Mr Boehm is an excellent writer and his books show that.
Characters were believable and real. The action was excellent and the pacing was good. It was true to life in that every one has troubles. Sometimes I think it would be nice to just stand up and draw.
Confusing at first. Couldn't figure out the characters. So it was slow at the beginning. But with the help of ChatGPT I was able to figure it out. Then it ended! Not as good as the Gideon Johann books.
