I have read a lot of books on Witchcraft lately but this one had a few things that I found off putting.

I want to point out that this book is definitely based off of the Wiccan tradition. While I wouldn't label myself a Wiccan I was interested in the spells and ideas that were presented.

I didn't like that the author pushed for secrecy in your practice. I know a lot of people practice in the broom closet because of fear of rejection (from family, friends etc) but this is the first book that suggested secrecy instead of doing what feels right for you. At one point the author states that once your friends know that you are a practicing witch they will constantly ask you to fix their problems. This just seems wrong. It seems wrong that friends would use you in such a way. It gave me some ick vibes.

Another thing that annoyed me was her point in the beginning that witches do not need a lot of tools. I appreciate this point because I believe it is correct and that the main thing a witch needs is intention. However, what annoyed me was that all of her spells need multiple ingredients. They seemed at odds with the sentiment at the beginning.

I did get several new ideas from this book that I am interested in adding to my practice.

On the balance I am glad I picked it up and glad that it was discounted.

A nice little book to get you initiated to some badic ideas of the Craft. It's by no means a scholarly book or even a highly informative one.

This is the kind of book you'd offer someone that is interested in the Craft or in Wicca but is afraid to drive headfirst into its studies.
It has a couple of simple spells/rituals that could be used for practicing spellwork and get a general idea of how it works.

Absolute trash.
Nothing but Wiccan rhetoric, Candle Magic and "Did you Know?" Facts, which are false and unsubstantiated. Save your money.

Divine womb magic vibes – politically uncomfortable, and spiritually nothing new.
