Memories We Lost. AND OTHER STORIES.

Rate this book
This anthology brings together a variety of short stories from Africa and other parts of the world. A rigorous and informed selection has ensured that it combines the confidence of classic with freshness that contemporary writers bring to their craft.

The collection is a grain-store of memories that seek to entertain, provoke, empower and educate. The themes are as wide ranging as the authors' backgrounds but they share a common belief - enhancing values and integrity in today's society in an effort to preserve human and social dignity.

The short story is probably the world's secret weapon in the way that the oral culture is interwoven into the written text, to be enjoyed for education as well as good read.

A fine collection of African short stories. Most of the stories are easily understood.

Did this in high school and some stories just sucked because we had to do essays on them but otherwise they were mostly nice.

One of my favourite pieces in the book was the weird kids in army uniforms. They hold guns & machetes & they don't give a damn. They amputate their fellow kids like its dinner. Now that's a horror movie!!

If you've never met kids like these you would never understand what happened to Mariatu Kamara.
She lost her beautiful hands & "we are net going to kill you, go to the President. Ask the President to give you new hands". Like who the hell are these kids??

This is more of a rebirth of the Auschwitz Prison. This is Ancient Germany.
