I know I have given average ratings to Rankshetram - 1 - Raksh Raj Markesh Ka Ant. That doesn't mean I cannot read next part. The author provided me ARC of the book to get my suggestions as I bombarded with issues in part-1. He wanted critical inputs to improve Asureshwar Durbhiksh Ki Vapsi. And I am glad author has improved a lot compare to part-1.
The first part ended with "Mahayudhdh" a great war. The second part started at the beginning of Durbhiksh background. The story also portrayed a good part of Markesh, his wife Shivanya and their love story. The story then switched back to Tejaswi's time, where again things went hay wired due to Bhairavnath's cunningness, which led to another big war. In that deadly war, the return of Durbhiksh was known to the world. After the war, the story advanced and new generation entered into the story. Sons of Akhand and Tejasvi led there on. Another kingdom entered the scene which is Hastinapur. Along with Hastinapur new sets of characters added to the story. To know more read the complete story.
Firstly I would like to apologize to the author as I was not aware book audience last time. If I have known the fact I might have reviewed differently. Well, the book is targetted for young adults and middle grades. Content maturity and writing style is aligned with the audience. Some highlights of writing style & characters. - To the point story. No extra line apart from the main story. - No abusive language - Simple language usage for beginners - Good linking of characters as story evolves
I had many negative points in mind while reading previous part even halfway through this part but author's style also evolved and improved after Tejaswi's chapter. The impatient behavior of characters steadied in later part. Though some bricks lose here and there but looking at the targeted audience I think content is strong enough. Looking for next part in series.
This book starts with Vakrabahu narrating the story of Rakshraaj Markesh, who was earlier known as Raja Dushal. Though he was asur He used to be a justice-oriented king. He tells them how he befriends him and how Dushal lost his kingdom by the hands of Asureshwar Durbheekhsh.
Asureshwar Durbheekhsh has a different story altogether. Born in the royal family, Guru Bhairavnath has maligned him before his birth. Durbheeksh has the name of Surjan, however, due to many misunderstanding and cunning of Guru Bhairavnath, he becomes Asureshwar Durbheekhsh. He is born with the five elements which make him invincible.
The story then progressed to narrate the end of Asureshwar Durbheekhsh and how he can alive again.
Then the story moves to present, Tejasvi and Akhand and their sons.
Due to Bhairavnath’s plan, Asureshwar Durbheekhsh is back. However, there is no one in the whole Aryavarta who can defeat him.
Between all this, there is a story of two great warriors Meghvarn and Chandraketu who are secretly trained by Mahabali Akhand.
Further, the story includes kingdom of Hastinapur with many new characters which give a new twist to the story.
The book ends with various new mysterious which will be answered in the next part.
I have kept summary short as I don’t want to disclose the most interesting part of the book.
Writing style:
I need to admire the narration skill of the author as there was not a single dull moment in the book. There are many characters and plots but the author has managed them excellently. The language is very simple and one can finish this book in three to four sittings.
My perception:
This book is super adventurous. While reading, I was amazed to see author’s brilliant skill to manage end number of plots, subplots, and characters. Plots are interlinked to each other and help to make a strong story. The author has also provided a list of events and characters chart which is an easy guide for the readers. I loved the first part and I can proudly say that second part is more happening. Creating such a vast storyline and using many references from mythology then again weaving it with imagination is not an easy task but the author has succeeded into it. We praise international fantasy and fiction but we forgot the great fantasy written by our own authors. These series need to get more exposure.

Author: Utkarsh Srivastava Format: Paperback
About the story: The book is the second one in the four books in this series. In the first part, the readers are introduced with the end of Mahabali by Sri Vishnu's Vaman avatar and Bhairavnath's evil plan to end the human race due to vengeance. In the first part, the birth of four yoddhas who are the rescuers of humans is shown. The evil being Markash is brought to life by Bhairavnath to sight against these four yoddhas. Markesh vows to himself to destroy the human race by any cost. And the first part ended with Mahayuddh.
The story of Prince Surjan is the second book is almost completely about. Here, in this part, Markesh and his wife Shivanya along with their love story are introduced in an elaborated manner. Vakrabahu is seen to be narrating Markesh's story who is also famously known as King Dushal. Though he belongs to the Demon race, he is comprised of good virtues of discipline, honesty, and justice. The story of Durbeeksh is also explained here. He is manipulated against every force by Bhairavnath to seek the wrath of humans for his own purpose. The story then switches to Tejasvi and Akhand.
The readers are also introduced with new characters namely Meghvarn and Chandrakethu, who are trained as warriors by Akhand. And the story moves to Hastinapur. What happens next is to be definitely read.
The author has created this myth fiction in a very interesting manner. From the first part, the narration of the story is very engaging. Not a single moment, I felt it boring. Though in the Hindi language, which is a language not so read, I have finished reading the book in 3 hours. The language is very simple. The author's imaginatory skills in creating many plots and subplots and linking them with ease are to be appreciated. I am looking forward to reading more from the author.
What I like: 1. The great narration 2. The introduction of various characters in the subplots 3. The vast storyline
Characters: Every character is beautifully portrayed.
Narration: One of the best narrations I have read in Indian Myth Fantasy Fiction.
Language & Grammar: An easy and swift language with good grammar is used.
My Final Verdict: A perfect Indian Myth Fantasy book.
About the story: 4/5 Characters: 4/5 Narration: 4/5 Language & Grammar: 4/5 Final Rating: 4/5
⚔️Rankshetram is a series of 5 books, and this is the Book 2 of the series. I have already reviewed Book 1, if you haven't checked it yet, go and check it on my profile.
⚔️The story basically revolves around Durbheeksh and it is divided into two phases- before and after 63 years time span. The characters in both the phases are phenomenal and different to each other and there is a unique, interesting link between the characters of both the phases.
⚔️As in the first book of the series, we read about the war between Vikramjeet and Markesh, where King Markesh was defeated, but the story didn't end there. Some unanswered questions and unsolved mysteries are unfolded in this sequel. I loved the story of Dushal and Shivanya and their meeting with Lord Mahabali abd Vaman avtar was really impeccable.
⚔️The storyline is gripping and the book is a complete package of suspense, thrill, and the character development is truly appreciable. The way author has carried things, make the book much exciting. The best part is you'll get a complete idea of Book 1, if you haven't read it. So ya, that's a USP of this book. The language is decent and one can easily understand everything.
⚔️The book is written in "Hindi" and I believe the joy of reading mythology is in the national language. Also I assure you, you'll be glued to the book throughout.
"Rankshetram (Part - 2)" is the second book of the series "Rankshetram" by Utkarsh Srivastava as I've already reviewed first book "Rankshetram (Part - 1)".
In Part - 1 we noticed how the conspiracies created via Rakshaguru Bhairavnath took the lives of many heroes. However Bhairavnath's conspiracies started approximately sixty five years ago and the second segment of Rankshetram revolves around Surjan, a victim of Bhairavnath's conspiracy. Surjan was a prince of Ekachakranagari born with five powers with the blessings of Maharishi Omeshwar but the game composed by Bhairavnath made him the king of Paatal. The author has also included some important characters of history along with fictional characters in this part of Rankshetram, which makes this story more interesting. I really had my hopes up so high for the second part of this book and with all honesty, it stood up to all my expectations. And I hope the next part of the story will be equally exciting. The ease with which the author has veiled all the mysteries is commendable.
I loved every minute of going through this book and it was really enjoyable to read. With lyrical writing, new twists on epic scenes and clever characterization, this book is worth a read.
Mentioned characters like Shakuntla, Vishwamitra, Dushyant and Sarvdaman (Bharat) are tremendous. Full of suspense & thriller till the end gives goosebumps

The part 2 and 3 is continuation of Part 1 , Raksharaj markesh ka ant
Second part ,is Asureshwar Durbheeksha Ki Wapsi .
First I will talk about cover ,which is beautiful beyond wors . The story revolves around mostly about Durbheeksha who is half Human and half demon . How Demon Guru Bhairavnath played a trick and turned Raja Yayati's divine would be son into half demon and half human. Guru Omeshwar helped Raja Babhooti and with his divine power turned his would be son into a child with divine powers . The book is intersting with various twists and turns and help us uncover the life journey of Durbheeksha . Which is terrifying at one time and make us pity him at another. His divine turned devil power is not in his control but his Guru Bhairavnath' s,who misused it at every step and through his tricks make him fight and kill others . How his life shaped up, you have to read the book to know it . The story is beatifully crafted and narrated . The pace is fast and keep is glued to it . The writer has done a lot of research and it shows in his book . An intriguing read.
It is getting more and more interesting. The series is a must read. The writer has done a marvelous job in showing that every character has some good and bad qualities, which makes them interesting. There is no complete evil except maybe the Rakshaguru Bhairavanatha. Author has also proved the point (that we see in Mahabharata too) that the one who stands with Adharma deserves no mercy and should be treated as enemy.
