Tim Patten's 'Masculinity is Our Future' is a great book. It considers the hard and often unsung work men have always completed. This work includes building civilisation, performing extremely dangerous jobs, engaging in practical decision making and helping to develop and cultivate other people's character. Patten's book makes the compelling argument that this work is absolutely essential, and if people are to survive and prosper, we need to get back to rewarding masculinity and the vital work that men do. The book is well written. It's arguments are presented in a very simple format, and yet they are unique and interesting. I've read a lot of positive masculinities, anti-feminist literature before, and there are many great arguments in this text that I hadn't previously heard. Overall, the book has increased my knowledge of this topic significantly. A fantastic read.
